Capri Driver No, Robin Rew, he was based at Silverstone and was a Scimitar and AC 3000 specialist, he converted 19 ME to Turbo - a 1/5 of the total production, around 10 survive.
Always loved the 3000me. A bit shocked the interior is truly so god awful. I believe it began life as the Diabolo ...a borderline kit car, then AC bought the rights to manufacture. That heritage truly shows. If only the design was purchased by a well off manufacturer and the interior (and erm... handling, because that was not great either) was completely reworked...it would still be my dream car.
I quite like the interior, everything is in easy reach when strapped and the instruments well grouped in eye line. Diablo (another car we own along with an N/A ME) was a bit beyond a kit car, designed by Lola engineers with similar clever packaging to an ME with a chassis by Arch. Diablo has fully adjustable suspension but AC chose to fix the geometry and then suffered with production tolerances affecting some cars. Early cars were also on Dunlops, the same Dunlops Lotus stopped using for Esprit for similar odd handling at extremes. Have you ever driven an ME?
Well if you’ve seen people driving before why watch another clip of the same? This car is quite well known from Motor magazine in period, a Classic Cars magazine feature, the NEC shows and Goodwood meets so try doing some research before commenting!
Awesome - made my day.
Very nice.
No it's not twitchy at all, not delicate and sharp like an Esprit or a Europa but still stable and planted - which chassis no. did you have?
Essex V6 with a Turbo? Broadspeed converison?

72twink A video of the engine would be nice.
did you find the handling scary and twitchy or was it just that the one I had had old tyres

Well, that was boring. I've seen people driving before. I'd rather have a good look at the design of the thing. 😕
