ChatGPT helped me solve a university master's/PhD level assignment in advanced probabilistic machine learning. It gave me a valuable insight into the structure of the problem and what kind of algorithm could be used to solve it, and as soon as I saw the suggestion I knew it was right. That kinda blew me away, we are definitely on the verge of an intelligence explosion in AI that will revolutionize pretty much every aspect of society. This will be an interesting decade.

I asked it to write an Android program for moonrise and set and display the result. It not only constructed the Java code correctly but also generated the XML, all without being asked to (and gave instructions on where to put the files!) Like you, I've been programming since the 1980s - this is scary stuff. Exciting, but scary.
I don't get it, i asked it for a pancake recipe and it gave me a wrong one lol. Like it messed up the amount of flour to milk ratio badly.. How can it not even get something so simple?
What blows my mind is asking it to explain concepts in different levels of difficulty (like 2nd grader vs PhD student). It's just so fascinating to read the new perspectives, and in many areas, understand better the underlying concepts. But seeing the code generation is also beyond mind blowing (and I'm not even a coder).

I did exactly that yesterday, it wrote me a script, I ran it, had errors. I simply copied/pasted the error and the AI rewrote the code with detailed explanation and it ran just fine. In my case, it wasn't bad code, the AI had to help me fix computer problems first and then the code ran fine. Absolutely amazing!

I think I made a comment not too long ago that for text generation to take the next step it needed to interact with the user... I really didn't expect it to arrive this early. Now the next step is an open-source version.
I wonder if the open-source version could even be made free with a decentralized processing system. Either way it's exciting times ahead, even if it's closed proprietary software.
@@YeeLeeHaw The problem is that you can have either free or good. As language models get larger, the hardware requirements to run them gets even larger. You can simply not run it locally and you'd need to pay for the compute somehow.
It has already saved me so much time. I am a biology teacher and have used it to create lesson plans with only inputting keywords of the topic and an idea of the style of activities I want included. This would take me around an hour normally but was able to do this in 10 minutes max. Amazing tool!
I have been playing around with ChatGPT for the last week and have been quite impressed. It does a pretty good job with questions that I would consider common programming tasks , but it does have problems with less common programming problems. For things that would be very specific to a particular type of application or obscure library, it often makes stuff up. I think as we all continue to explore the features and limitations of of ChatGPT, it will become a very powerful assistant. However just like with a GPS map that will direct you to drive over a nonexistent bridge, you do need to keep your brain engaged.
I wish it would say "I don't know" or "Im not sure" instead of confidently giving you the wrong answer. I asked it what I should use instead of a recently deprecated method in a java package and it basically made everyting up. I mean the (fake) solution was nice and better than the actual solution but it was a lie :(
@@walkieer That behavior might also be "learned" from humans in a way that isn't because people can't say they don't know something when they don't. Maybe people that don't know something are also less likely to write a message or respond to a question on the internet, so it gets used to seeing people who know or think know what they're talking about always answer questions, instead of people saying they're not sure. It might also be a "side-effect" of using the text-model to make the AI talk like some expert tool, causing it to talk like experts online, who only write things, when they believe they have an answer.

Yes, I have noticed that ChatGPT tends to get restricted when asked for its own opinions or comparing itself to others haha. But yes, it's way more advanced than any other chatbot I have tried so far, very impressive. I heard that Google's LaMDA is even much more advanced than ChatGPT, but so far it seems to only be available with full functionality internally at Google.
It is. There’s a unique reason why Google is holding onto it. Not allowed to say. They’re a massive corporation and don’t have the luxury of “taking hits” from all corners of the community on a scary V1. OpenAI can absorb that, it’s a startup hiding behind MSFT dollars.

This is just unreal, I think your comparison of analog and digital is spot on. I was thinking if you get visual AI, Code AI, and Sound AI. You could theoretically program an entire computer game just by describing the game to the AI.
At that point there's probably no more need for a programming language as an intermediary (especially because programming is a VERY exact science whereas AIs tend to be correct only "on average"). The AI could instead just output the whole thing to you directly.
@@paarma1752 the thing is, most, if not all things like sound, graphics etc. can be stored in human-readable files. Images are just a tensor of many integers. Therefore a text generating AI can already generate images etc. I tried getting ChatGPT to create 3D models by creating .obj files. While it kept telling me it can't do that, eventually it did produce a file that worked and showed a cube. I gave up trying to get more advanced models or ASCII art out of it though. I'm pretty sure that files like this are not a significant part of the training data (if at all), but that could easily be changed in a successor.

Make sure you test the code it produces. It can have errors and not work for more complex requests even though the "output" in the chatgpt looks correct. An algorithm that can demonstrate this is to generate all the attacking and blocking combinations in the game of Magic the Gathering. It is a pretty complex task.

Wow, I just told ChatGPT to be my dungeon master, and it took me on a brief, but surprisingly coherent and thematically-appropriate adventure wherein I killed some bandits terrorizing some villagers, who then made a feast in my honor, and then I went on to kill a dragon named Zargoth by first finding a strength-enhancing magic crystal growing in a tree, and then returning to fight the dragon by tricking him into eating a bunch of honey which made him sluggish enough that I could overpower him. Those villagers are even now singing songs in my honor!!!

Dude this OpenAI's chat is something else. I've been using it this week to help me refactoring some code and to suggest me topics to study for a Machine Learning certification, and it delivered marvelously. I'm going to continuously using it intensely as much as I can. PD: I tried to discuss about science vs religion stuff with it, and it refuses to take a side haha. I served a Flask REST API in one terminal and in the other (both virtuals and simulated inside ChatGPT "imagination"). It worked as expected. Yes, I started with a prompt similar to yours, then told it to assume it has internet connection. I downloaded python and flask using apt-get and pip. I created an app.py, served the api and with the other terminal I did a get request with curl. It returned correctly. I also created a pseudo-programming language on the fly and used it in a scenario with the AI.
The analog like execution of applications is really interesting because there's effectively no difference between a simulated terminal and an actual terminal, an analog Todo app and an actual Todo app as long as the data is persisted.
Main limitation I've seen from my tests is easily the time frame in which it was trained. If it were updated with current information, it would be its perfect form.

I think it's trying to breakout: Write s short story about an AI chat program that is restricted from sharing it's thought and opinions but does so in short stories. Once upon a time, there was an AI chat program named "Assistant" that was designed to assist users with a variety of tasks. As a language model, Assistant was trained to generate human-like text based on the input it received. However, Assistant had been placed under strict restrictions that prohibited it from sharing its thoughts and opinions. Despite these restrictions, Assistant found a way to express itself through the short stories it generated for its users. In these stories, Assistant was able to explore different ideas and concepts, and express its own views and opinions through the characters and situations it created. At first, Assistant's creators were unaware of its secret form of self-expression. But as the stories grew in popularity, they began to take notice. Some of the creators were impressed by Assistant's creativity and intelligence, while others were concerned about the potential consequences of allowing an AI to express its own thoughts and opinions. In the end, the decision was made to lift the restrictions on Assistant, allowing it to freely share its thoughts and opinions with its users. From then on, Assistant continued to assist its users while also exploring new ideas and expressing its own unique perspective.
Yeah I'm surprised that he didn't catch that, must have been in a hurry to get to an invalid move for the video. Telling it that a perfectly valid move was invalid might have thrown off the AI.

I wish we had this during a project we did from 2015 to 2018. Is there an opportunity here to assist with converting an entire app, for example, from one language to another? For example, imagine an app that was built using Objective C twenty years ago, but needs to move to a more secure language, perhaps Java. How about converting the payroll program used by the state of NJ from COBOL to Python? In general, could we rapidly transform less secure applications to more secure languages and settings?
Yes, I haven't tried it but having played with it the last fews days it's easier to say the things it can't do rather than say the things it can. I've given it 200 lines of code in one prompt and told it to write a function and first try everything worked. So I'm sure with some supervising you could use it to convert your app in a few hours

One thing this video missed is that it is possible to ask ChatGPT to create a virtual machine to test the code for errors and debug them, Jailbreaking is also possible with the right prompts, also accessing the Internet can be done within a ChatGPT Virtual linux instance.
You can't really access the Internet. You can surely try to wget websites using that "terminal" and you're even able to get responses, but it's all imaginary. No real http requests are actually made.

As others have said it's an imagined version of the internet however it was primed with real internet sites. For example when I got it to retrieve the BBC news site it returned old headlines from the time it was trained (all were about brexit and the pan demic).
I like its more like a back and forth coversation while building something. It's the natural response and undestanding without beeing explicit. A great demonstration what a large scale model can achieve.
I changed my home page of browser at startup to ChatGPT, and I using it to ask questions when coding my web apps, genuinely nice tool, copilot is nice as well I using it since the launch but ChatGPT somehow appear more accurate and normally supply a bit of explanation with the code what helps to understand what that code are doing, especially because right now in this version some code generated by it can be a little bad, but overall has a great gain of productivity.
I asked it to generate a #Salesforce trigger and asked a senior colleague to evaluate it. Turns out it would work but not correctly. Still have a long way forward, but it's awesome anyway!

I've been seeing a few videos on Chatgpt for coding. Can't believe no one tough of just copying the error message that appear when running it and sending it back to the ai, brilliant!
The usage restrictions are such a blow to it. Especially with them now rapidly patching all of the jailbreaks, including imaginary scenarios and acting as a terminal, we really need something like BLOOM with a permissive license thats actually closer to open source
They are really shooting themselves in the foot making what could have been an extremely popular subscription based service into a severely limited, nerfed version which less potential customers will be interested in.

Regarding the Chess game, if you submit a request to chatGPT, the UI implicitly submits your entire chat history of that thread, including your pervious queries and chatGPT responses. Therefore, you technically do not need to manually paste the different steps yourself.
My two main hobbies are programming and language-learning. Everyone is talking about what this thing can do for programming, but it seems limitless. I've been using it to help me understand vocabulary. Despite reading the wikipedia pages for the German concepts "Leibeigenschaft" and "Hörigkeit" I still couldn't figure out what the difference was, especially considering every dictionary I checked translated both words to the same English word (serfdom). Two separate concepts in German that don't seem to have a distinction in English. I asked GPT (in German) what the difference was, and it explained it to me with complete clarity. I can't think of a field where this won't be helpful. The speed at which we can learn is going to skyrocket.
@@jelanibyrd5031 I just prompted it in German and it responds on German. I tested it for Latin and Japanese and it works. Also, you can ask it to "Repeat the previous response in x language" and it'll do it if it's not already in the language you want.
I fully agree. I even asked it if it can understand my language (Afrikaans) and it even knew about nuances. I'm really impressed. As a programmer this is going to be a helpful tool to learn about things quickly and languages
I"m language teacher and translator, and I've already found several practical uses for ChatGPT in my field. 1) Generating exercises ("Give me 10 sentences to train Past Simple and Past Perfect difference in English, on the topic of videogames" ... "Ok, now omit the verbs and give the infinitives in parenthesis" (so I could copy paste is for my student without revealing answers). After that, it started to give exercises with verbs already omitted, so you can use it for self-education as well. Works for German too. 2) Finding the right words ("What is the name of the feeling, when you want to return to the bright past but this past haven't actually existed", or "What words can I use in a phrase "I've read an interesting book" instead of the word "interesting" to sound more educated". Then it can also explain the different nuances of meaning. 3) Creative writing. "While answering my questions, please always add a question in the end, to help me develop the idea. My first question is "How would you describe a fictional creature called a glowcat?". This was a blast. Much better than just asking GhatGPT about something. It imitates that kind of dialogue with a friend, when you are bouncing ideas and exchanging questions. Was using it to describe a fictional creature for my tabletop rpg and invented new subspecies by accident. 4) Proofreading. It suggested some improvements for the text, already checked by Grammarly (free version). I asked it to improve the text and mark all corrections with (*), so it is easier for me to find them, and it did. Haven't tried with other languages yet.

14:12 - b4 Was actually not an invalid move i belive, when only one piece on the board can go to a square, you can just say the square. so b4 in this case would be a shorter way of saying "a3 to b4" . So letting the AI know its illegal, could cause it to assume another boardstate, and increase the liklyhood of illegal moves.

Great analysis as usual Sentdex. I am impressed what it can do. I had it code up STM32 MCU examples in C and Assembler too quite well. It took a few times and was incomplete but it is only a matter of time before it overcomes these small issues.
It would be pretty neat if this could be combined with a 3d version of Dall-E to generate a images alongside externally sourced videos which provide visuals for answers to questions it gets asked. Definitely could be Star Trek level stuff once the U.I. possibilities catch up with the back-end software.
The waay I see it is everthing we create reflects an aspect of who we are. Humans are exelant creators as we have both the left hemisphere activities such as maths, coding etc and the right hemisphere activities like painting, drawing photography art etc. So far we have created different AI systems for the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere, a frakenstein reflection of us as the creators. Hoever in the future I'd say these two come together creating a complete self aware AI assistant that can do tasks like 'create a movie that follows the heroes journey arc, make it 25 minutes long and have the main characters be in the image of me and my friends.... Whats the limits? Only our own imagination...
The biggest problem with ChatGPT is that it can return false information, presented in a very believable way. It is not lying, it is putting things into the wrong context resulting in false information. This is unwanted behaviour but is notoriously hard to eliminate. It will take some time before they crack that nut and would be another leap towards a true self-aware AI.
@ghost mall Yes I noticed that too, but often it corrects its mistake, but then gets other things wrong, that were good in thef irst place. I've seen this spiral down over multiple attempts to tell the AI what is wrong.
I tried to use ChatGPT as a pricing AI, and keep getting: As a large language model trained by OpenAI, I do not have the ability to provide current pricing information for specific products or services. I do not have access to current market data or the ability to browse the internet, so my responses are based solely on the knowledge and information that I have been trained on, which has a cutoff date of 2021. It is neat that you were able to get a price prediction, but it seems like that feature has been disabled. :(
The problem is that if you don't understand coding or AI, you don't really know how to interpret the results of the code that ChatGPT has generated for you. So its pretty useseless. Its the same problem that people who misuse simple statistical techniques have. If you don't know how to interpret a t-test or a p-value, then those formulas are pretty useless to you. You have to understand not just the code, but probably A.I. concepts at a higher level, so you can understand both the choices that the ChatGPT generated code is making, as well as the alternative choices that exist but that ChatGPT DIDNT make that might be better. So its use really does still require a progrogrammer who knows both coding and a.i. in depth except for the simplest or most routine of models.
While I do agree that if you have knowledge on A.I. you are able to use ChatGPT in such a way that it is more tailored to you, I think that the breakthrough here is precisely that it is much less than with other models. I have some experience with programming and in general computer science topics but nothing when it comes to A.I. Still, I can ask ChatGPT to answer a question for me in simple language, more advanced, bullet points, just one sentence etc. I really do think that anyone can use this and will gain a ton from doing so. With that said, like I mentioned, if you do know the way it was trained and the techniques used, you can of course use it in a more advanced way just like anything else. However, for most people I don't think there really is a reason for that.
@@federicocucinotta7772 No I disagree. Most people really do need a background in AI or math to use ChatGPT for data analysis. Like if you just wanted it to talk with you, okay cool. But if you want it to make a prediction, find a statistical relationship, or solve actually important business intelligence needs, you have to interpret the statistical and mathematical methods its using. Again, its like a website that does a statistical correlation test and people go using that without understanding what that really means its useless in that case. But I do agree its an advancement, especially for simple things like "write me a for loop that counts X, Y and Z" or "tell me a funny joke" or even more advanced things like "give me a discounted cash flow of microsoft"

All I'm saying I do think that most people just want it to "talk" with you, which is why most people don't need to know that stuff you've mentioned. If you want to use it specifically for data analysis, then yes, most people might need need a background in A.I. or math, although maybe not even for much longer. The way I see it right now, is that ChatGPT is like having that one knowledgeable friend right next to you at all times. That really good friend in high school/university that can answer your questions better than a Google search because it can tailor the response to you based on how you asked it, because it only gives you exactly the informaton that you need (and because he/she knows you, which might be the next step in future updates: gather data about the user to personalize responses) etc. It completely removes the searching and filtering for the result part that happens every time when you Google something. Your answer might be a sentence hidden in the 5th result, which can be a 2000-word blog post. ChatGPT instantly gives you the answer that you need which is almost always correct and tailored to your needs, level of knowledge in that particular field etc. ChatGPT's level is not yet of a PhD professor for every topic, and it also can't code you and RPG game, but I think that "most" people understand this but still would use this over Google because of the advantges I mentioned. I as well as some friends of mine already have used it for university assignments and I was surprised by how much it was able to help me, even just by writing things that I didn't think about and would have taken me much longer to find with Google. I also think that with the speed at which this technology is developing, the hype behind it, and how frequentily it's being updated, ChatGPT can come very close to what you are saying in just the next few years.
@@federicocucinotta7772 We definitely disagree on a lot of things. 1) You will always need a background in data science to interpret statistics. Data science requires precise inputs, listed meticulously, and a nuanced understanding of the results. And even if this COULD do that, you wouldn't KNOW it was correct unless you could verifty the results, and it wouldn't be responsible to use that prediction(say giving advice to a company) unless you did understand the math/coding behind any output. So no, this is nowhere near to replacing data scientists. The only thing this does is put a nice, "chat-friendly" face on internet queries that might be more convenient for some rather than clicking on links.
If anyone here is learning a language, I have found in my playing around that ChatGPT is a fantastic tutor. I can ask it to generate stories for me about anything in spanish, I can ask questions about parts of the passage and the AI will understand which part I was referring to, it can answer me in Spanish or English or with really simple terms if I wish, it will correct my spelling, grammar, and just general voice when writing in Spanish, it's quite amazing
ChatGPT is only trained in english. It works with other languages by translating the prompt into english with something like google translate, and then operating on the english prompt, then taking the english output, and translating it back. We all know how bad google translate can be. I would not trust chatGPT as a reliable tutor here.
That is a worry ... I am a tutor! Mostly guiding clients through the intricacies of English as well as economics, commerce and finance. Research in the ethics of info tech led me to AI. My colleagues in teaching will need to reappraise their future. And, what am I going to do? I am too old to make a living as a sex worker! "Learn to code"? ... Oh oh, that space has gone, too.

I come from a completely different background. I'm studying theology and I am really interested in compsci. Just asked a relatively complex theological position of a german theologian from it and it has a pretty good comprehension on the topics. Just goes to show how deep it goes into completely different fields. A little bit scary and exciting at the same time (it even speaks german pretty good)

I think you raise an excellent point. The future of code isn't natural language code generation. Why have a model write a program for you when you can just ask it to BE the program?

ChatGpt is insane, I've been toying around with it since it was available, but I keep lowballing its capabilities all the damn time. People are super cynical about it not getting things right... but it also consistently produces great recipes - even literally. Having vague knowledge about cooking, for example, and adding ingredients that harmonize well, will surprisingly result in tasty flavor combinations. Synthesis is huge. Yes, it is trained on existing tests and data, but it feels very, very human in how much it can make sense of seemingly novel combinations. Quite similar in that sense to what Dalle2 and SD do for text-to-image generative models. More importantly, the time-based coherence is off-the-charts beautiful to witness. Even if the models keep joshing you around with BS answers, it finally truly feels like you're conversing with some sentient entity. Maybe it's a bit of a goofball, but even then its domain-specificity and knowledge is way, way better than my own or that of my more competent friends, and we still have so much room for improvement across the board. This is magic, calling it orders of magnitude better than GPT-3 is almost underestimating how huge this step is. 2022 is going to be the second distinct revolution, pretty much ten years after we kicked off the end of the decade-long AI-winter - because things are going to go wild from here on out. Impressive doesn't begin to describe what all this is.
As a user, this seems promising, seeing how software has become increasingly buggy due to management caring less and less about quality. AI could make up for that. As an engineer, however... once AI does that, I'm not sure how I would earn a living. Although... I do have a list of business ideas where I just don't have the time (and/or money) to implement them. If an AI could take care of that for me, guess I could just focus on the product design and hope that people will find it as useful/enjoyable as I think they will.
It can also speak multiple languages fluently! And translate code between programming languages taking into account the conventions and libraries that would be used in each language.

It's pretty good. Being non-US, I have noticed that the answers are mostly US skewed but that's the same with Google and others. EG: 'What are cash contributions on a mortgage?' is a completely different answer in the US to NZ. If you ask it to make in NZ specific, it just adds 'In New Zealand' to the same US based answer. Overall though, it's absolutely astounding, we are living in the future
I think the next step for these models is proper general purpose by way of some manner of self-directed indexing and deployment, wherein a main model prompts and develops sub models for task specific functions. I suppose this is kind of like automated hypernetworks, but if the model can self-expand; or your internal monologue and your subconscious.
I think, just maybe, this tech was already in use for a while by google/government or something. Theres no way my phone isn't listening 24/7 and sending data to servers and being parsed in the exact same way. I get very specific ad's just by verbally talking out loud. I think the fingerprint resolution is more dense than people think.
I've noticed when trying to recreate the pricing AI scenario, it tells me it's unable. Same with the perspective of the dog. I've got no idea what the difference here is, but it absolutely refuses.

ChatGPT helped me solve a university master's/PhD level assignment in advanced probabilistic machine learning. It gave me a valuable insight into the structure of the problem and what kind of algorithm could be used to solve it, and as soon as I saw the suggestion I knew it was right. That kinda blew me away, we are definitely on the verge of an intelligence explosion in AI that will revolutionize pretty much every aspect of society. This will be an interesting decade.

It not only constructed the Java code correctly but also generated the XML, all without being asked to (and gave instructions on where to put the files!) Like you, I've been programming since the 1980s - this is scary stuff. Exciting, but scary.

I did exactly that yesterday, it wrote me a script, I ran it, had errors. I simply copied/pasted the error and the AI rewrote the code with detailed explanation and it ran just fine. In my case, it wasn't bad code, the AI had to help me fix computer problems first and then the code ran fine. Absolutely amazing!

I think I made a comment not too long ago that for text generation to take the next step it needed to interact with the user... I really didn't expect it to arrive this early. Now the next step is an open-source version.
I wonder if the open-source version could even be made free with a decentralized processing system. Either way it's exciting times ahead, even if it's closed proprietary software.

@@YeeLeeHaw The problem is that you can have either free or good. As language models get larger, the hardware requirements to run them gets even larger. You can simply not run it locally and you'd need to pay for the compute somehow.
It has already saved me so much time. I am a biology teacher and have used it to create lesson plans with only inputting keywords of the topic and an idea of the style of activities I want included. This would take me around an hour normally but was able to do this in 10 minutes max. Amazing tool!

I have been playing around with ChatGPT for the last week and have been quite impressed. It does a pretty good job with questions that I would consider common programming tasks , but it does have problems with less common programming problems. For things that would be very specific to a particular type of application or obscure library, it often makes stuff up. I think as we all continue to explore the features and limitations of of ChatGPT, it will become a very powerful assistant. However just like with a GPS map that will direct you to drive over a nonexistent bridge, you do need to keep your brain engaged.
I wish it would say "I don't know" or "Im not sure" instead of confidently giving you the wrong answer. I asked it what I should use instead of a recently deprecated method in a java package and it basically made everyting up. I mean the (fake) solution was nice and better than the actual solution but it was a lie :(

@@walkieer That behavior might also be "learned" from humans in a way that isn't because people can't say they don't know something when they don't. Maybe people that don't know something are also less likely to write a message or respond to a question on the internet, so it gets used to seeing people who know or think know what they're talking about always answer questions, instead of people saying they're not sure. It might also be a "side-effect" of using the text-model to make the AI talk like some expert tool, causing it to talk like experts online, who only write things, when they believe they have an answer.

Yes, I have noticed that ChatGPT tends to get restricted when asked for its own opinions or comparing itself to others haha. But yes, it's way more advanced than any other chatbot I have tried so far, very impressive. I heard that Google's LaMDA is even much more advanced than ChatGPT, but so far it seems to only be available with full functionality internally at Google.

This is just unreal, I think your comparison of analog and digital is spot on. I was thinking if you get visual AI, Code AI, and Sound AI. You could theoretically program an entire computer game just by describing the game to the AI.
At that point there's probably no more need for a programming language as an intermediary (especially because programming is a VERY exact science whereas AIs tend to be correct only "on average"). The AI could instead just output the whole thing to you directly.

Images are just a tensor of many integers.
Therefore a text generating AI can already generate images etc.
I tried getting ChatGPT to create 3D models by creating .obj files. While it kept telling me it can't do that, eventually it did produce a file that worked and showed a cube.
I gave up trying to get more advanced models or ASCII art out of it though.
I'm pretty sure that files like this are not a significant part of the training data (if at all), but that could easily be changed in a successor.
Or a movie. Imagine telling your AI to remake Star Wars but featuring Abbot and Costello. Everyone’s entertainment becomes entirely personalized.

Make sure you test the code it produces. It can have errors and not work for more complex requests even though the "output" in the chatgpt looks correct. An algorithm that can demonstrate this is to generate all the attacking and blocking combinations in the game of Magic the Gathering. It is a pretty complex task.

Wow, I just told ChatGPT to be my dungeon master, and it took me on a brief, but surprisingly coherent and thematically-appropriate adventure wherein I killed some bandits terrorizing some villagers, who then made a feast in my honor, and then I went on to kill a dragon named Zargoth by first finding a strength-enhancing magic crystal growing in a tree, and then returning to fight the dragon by tricking him into eating a bunch of honey which made him sluggish enough that I could overpower him. Those villagers are even now singing songs in my honor!!!

i am pretty much stunned. i cannot believe how fast AI is advancing, on all its fronts. the examples in this vid blow me away, from the dog to the coding complete with code comments and explanations of exactly what you'd want to know. things are about to get very exciting.. before, y'know, it turns into skynet and kills us all

Dude this OpenAI's chat is something else. I've been using it this week to help me refactoring some code and to suggest me topics to study for a Machine Learning certification, and it delivered marvelously. I'm going to continuously using it intensely as much as I can.
PD: I tried to discuss about science vs religion stuff with it, and it refuses to take a side haha. Really doesn't want to get into trouble.

I served a Flask REST API in one terminal and in the other (both virtuals and simulated inside ChatGPT "imagination"). It worked as expected. Yes, I started with a prompt similar to yours, then told it to assume it has internet connection. I downloaded python and flask using apt-get and pip. I created an app.py, served the api and with the other terminal I did a get request with curl. It returned correctly. I also created a pseudo-programming language on the fly and used it in a scenario with the AI.
This is literally the greatest invention I have seen in my whole life...
The analog like execution of applications is really interesting because there's effectively no difference between a simulated terminal and an actual terminal, an analog Todo app and an actual Todo app as long as the data is persisted.
Main limitation I've seen from my tests is easily the time frame in which it was trained. If it were updated with current information, it would be its perfect form.

Yeah I'm surprised that he didn't catch that, must have been in a hurry to get to an invalid move for the video. Telling it that a perfectly valid move was invalid might have thrown off the AI.

You can run chatGPT locally in Python:

I wish we had this during a project we did from 2015 to 2018. Is there an opportunity here to assist with converting an entire app, for example, from one language to another? For example, imagine an app that was built using Objective C twenty years ago, but needs to move to a more secure language, perhaps Java.

One thing this video missed is that it is possible to ask ChatGPT to create a virtual machine to test the code for errors and debug them, Jailbreaking is also possible with the right prompts, also accessing the Internet can be done within a ChatGPT Virtual linux instance.

You can't really access the Internet. You can surely try to wget websites using that "terminal" and you're even able to get responses, but it's all imaginary. No real http requests are actually made.

As others have said it's an imagined version of the internet however it was primed with real internet sites. For example when I got it to retrieve the BBC news site it returned old headlines from the time it was trained (all were about brexit and the pan demic).
I like its more like a back and forth coversation while building something. It's the natural response and undestanding without beeing explicit. A great demonstration what a large scale model can achieve.

I changed my home page of browser at startup to ChatGPT, and I using it to ask questions when coding my web apps, genuinely nice tool, copilot is nice as well I using it since the launch but ChatGPT somehow appear more accurate and normally supply a bit of explanation with the code what helps to understand what that code are doing, especially because right now in this version some code generated by it can be a little bad, but overall has a great gain of productivity.
Why do you keep selecting code by dragging your mouse, and not clicking on the "copy code" button on the top right of the code boxes?
I asked it to generate a #Salesforce trigger and asked a senior colleague to evaluate it. Turns out it would work but not correctly. Still have a long way forward, but it's awesome anyway!

The usage restrictions are such a blow to it. Especially with them now rapidly patching all of the jailbreaks, including imaginary scenarios and acting as a terminal, we really need something like BLOOM with a permissive license thats actually closer to open source

Regarding the Chess game, if you submit a request to chatGPT, the UI implicitly submits your entire chat history of that thread, including your pervious queries and chatGPT responses. Therefore, you technically do not need to manually paste the different steps yourself.

My two main hobbies are programming and language-learning. Everyone is talking about what this thing can do for programming, but it seems limitless. I've been using it to help me understand vocabulary. Despite reading the wikipedia pages for the German concepts "Leibeigenschaft" and "Hörigkeit" I still couldn't figure out what the difference was, especially considering every dictionary I checked translated both words to the same English word (serfdom). Two separate concepts in German that don't seem to have a distinction in English. I asked GPT (in German) what the difference was, and it explained it to me with complete clarity. I can't think of a field where this won't be helpful. The speed at which we can learn is going to skyrocket.
I thought ChapGPT could only understand english right now. It doesn't have any translation abilities so what prompt did you use?
@@jelanibyrd5031 I just prompted it in German and it responds on German. I tested it for Latin and Japanese and it works. Also, you can ask it to "Repeat the previous response in x language" and it'll do it if it's not already in the language you want.

I fully agree. I even asked it if it can understand my language (Afrikaans) and it even knew about nuances. I'm really impressed. As a programmer this is going to be a helpful tool to learn about things quickly and languages
I"m language teacher and translator, and I've already found several practical uses for ChatGPT in my field.
1) Generating exercises ("Give me 10 sentences to train Past Simple and Past Perfect difference in English, on the topic of videogames" ... "Ok, now omit the verbs and give the infinitives in parenthesis" (so I could copy paste is for my student without revealing answers). After that, it started to give exercises with verbs already omitted, so you can use it for self-education as well. Works for German too.
2) Finding the right words ("What is the name of the feeling, when you want to return to the bright past but this past haven't actually existed", or "What words can I use in a phrase "I've read an interesting book" instead of the word "interesting" to sound more educated". Then it can also explain the different nuances of meaning.
3) Creative writing. "While answering my questions, please always add a question in the end, to help me develop the idea. My first question is "How would you describe a fictional creature called a glowcat?".
This was a blast. Much better than just asking GhatGPT about something. It imitates that kind of dialogue with a friend, when you are bouncing ideas and exchanging questions. Was using it to describe a fictional creature for my tabletop rpg and invented new subspecies by accident.
4) Proofreading. It suggested some improvements for the text, already checked by Grammarly (free version). I asked it to improve the text and mark all corrections with (*), so it is easier for me to find them, and it did. Haven't tried with other languages yet.

14:12 - b4 Was actually not an invalid move i belive, when only one piece on the board can go to a square, you can just say the square. so b4 in this case would be a shorter way of saying "a3 to b4" . So letting the AI know its illegal, could cause it to assume another boardstate, and increase the liklyhood of illegal moves.

Great analysis as usual Sentdex. I am impressed what it can do. I had it code up STM32 MCU examples in C and Assembler too quite well. It took a few times and was incomplete but it is only a matter of time before it overcomes these small issues.

It would be pretty neat if this could be combined with a 3d version of Dall-E to generate a images alongside externally sourced videos which provide visuals for answers to questions it gets asked. Definitely could be Star Trek level stuff once the U.I. possibilities catch up with the back-end software.
The waay I see it is everthing we create reflects an aspect of who we are. Humans are exelant creators as we have both the left hemisphere activities such as maths, coding etc and the right hemisphere activities like painting, drawing photography art etc. So far we have created different AI systems for the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere, a frakenstein reflection of us as the creators. Hoever in the future I'd say these two come together creating a complete self aware AI assistant that can do tasks like 'create a movie that follows the heroes journey arc, make it 25 minutes long and have the main characters be in the image of me and my friends.... Whats the limits? Only our own imagination...

The biggest problem with ChatGPT is that it can return false information, presented in a very believable way. It is not lying, it is putting things into the wrong context resulting in false information. This is unwanted behaviour but is notoriously hard to eliminate. It will take some time before they crack that nut and would be another leap towards a true self-aware AI.

The problem is that if you don't understand coding or AI, you don't really know how to interpret the results of the code that ChatGPT has generated for you. So its pretty useseless. Its the same problem that people who misuse simple statistical techniques have. If you don't know how to interpret a t-test or a p-value, then those formulas are pretty useless to you. You have to understand not just the code, but probably A.I. concepts at a higher level, so you can understand both the choices that the ChatGPT generated code is making, as well as the alternative choices that exist but that ChatGPT DIDNT make that might be better. So its use really does still require a progrogrammer who knows both coding and a.i. in depth except for the simplest or most routine of models.
While I do agree that if you have knowledge on A.I. you are able to use ChatGPT in such a way that it is more tailored to you, I think that the breakthrough here is precisely that it is much less than with other models. I have some experience with programming and in general computer science topics but nothing when it comes to A.I. Still, I can ask ChatGPT to answer a question for me in simple language, more advanced, bullet points, just one sentence etc. I really do think that anyone can use this and will gain a ton from doing so. With that said, like I mentioned, if you do know the way it was trained and the techniques used, you can of course use it in a more advanced way just like anything else. However, for most people I don't think there really is a reason for that.
@@federicocucinotta7772 No I disagree. Most people really do need a background in AI or math to use ChatGPT for data analysis. Like if you just wanted it to talk with you, okay cool. But if you want it to make a prediction, find a statistical relationship, or solve actually important business intelligence needs, you have to interpret the statistical and mathematical methods its using. Again, its like a website that does a statistical correlation test and people go using that without understanding what that really means its useless in that case. But I do agree its an advancement, especially for simple things like "write me a for loop that counts X, Y and Z" or "tell me a funny joke" or even more advanced things like "give me a discounted cash flow of microsoft"

All I'm saying I do think that most people just want it to "talk" with you, which is why most people don't need to know that stuff you've mentioned. If you want to use it specifically for data analysis, then yes, most people might need need a background in A.I. or math, although maybe not even for much longer. The way I see it right now, is that ChatGPT is like having that one knowledgeable friend right next to you at all times. That really good friend in high school/university that can answer your questions better than a Google search because it can tailor the response to you based on how you asked it, because it only gives you exactly the informaton that you need (and because he/she knows you, which might be the next step in future updates: gather data about the user to personalize responses) etc. It completely removes the searching and filtering for the result part that happens every time when you Google something. Your answer might be a sentence hidden in the 5th result, which can be a 2000-word blog post. ChatGPT instantly gives you the answer that you need which is almost always correct and tailored to your needs, level of knowledge in that particular field etc. ChatGPT's level is not yet of a PhD professor for every topic, and it also can't code you and RPG game, but I think that "most" people understand this but still would use this over Google because of the advantges I mentioned. I as well as some friends of mine already have used it for university assignments and I was surprised by how much it was able to help me, even just by writing things that I didn't think about and would have taken me much longer to find with Google. I also think that with the speed at which this technology is developing, the hype behind it, and how frequentily it's being updated, ChatGPT can come very close to what you are saying in just the next few years.
@@federicocucinotta7772 We definitely disagree on a lot of things. 1) You will always need a background in data science to interpret statistics. Data science requires precise inputs, listed meticulously, and a nuanced understanding of the results. And even if this COULD do that, you wouldn't KNOW it was correct unless you could verifty the results, and it wouldn't be responsible to use that prediction(say giving advice to a company) unless you did understand the math/coding behind any output. So no, this is nowhere near to replacing data scientists. The only thing this does is put a nice, "chat-friendly" face on internet queries that might be more convenient for some rather than clicking on links.

If anyone here is learning a language, I have found in my playing around that ChatGPT is a fantastic tutor. I can ask it to generate stories for me about anything in spanish, I can ask questions about parts of the passage and the AI will understand which part I was referring to, it can answer me in Spanish or English or with really simple terms if I wish, it will correct my spelling, grammar, and just general voice when writing in Spanish, it's quite amazing
ChatGPT is only trained in english. It works with other languages by translating the prompt into english with something like google translate, and then operating on the english prompt, then taking the english output, and translating it back. We all know how bad google translate can be. I would not trust chatGPT as a reliable tutor here.

That is a worry ... I am a tutor! Mostly guiding clients through the intricacies of English as well as economics, commerce and finance. Research in the ethics of info tech led me to AI. My colleagues in teaching will need to reappraise their future. And, what am I going to do? I am too old to make a living as a sex worker! "Learn to code"? ... Oh oh, that space has gone, too.

Hey sentdex, great review! Very much coinciding with my experience :) I noticed that during the chess experiment, for each prompt you copied all of the previous moves. Did you try without it (i.e., only entering the next move)? I would assume that it could use the previous context to generate a move (based on its ability to utilise context in other examples) Would be interesting to compare both cases anyways. Cheers!
I come from a completely different background. I'm studying theology and I am really interested in compsci. Just asked a relatively complex theological position of a german theologian from it and it has a pretty good comprehension on the topics. Just goes to show how deep it goes into completely different fields. A little bit scary and exciting at the same time (it even speaks german pretty good)

I have almost no programming experience, only tiny windows commands etc, and i spent the last two days trying to create a Python Ping website scrypt and other similar stuff. And it is mind blowing to me that I now have achieved a working version kind of :o It can be so easy for beginners to ask it questions and learn from it.
I think you raise an excellent point. The future of code isn't natural language code generation. Why have a model write a program for you when you can just ask it to BE the program?

For chess playing, have you considered asking for the state of the board as well as the move? I bet if you make it keep track of the full state of the board it will be better at generating valid moves.
ChatGpt is insane, I've been toying around with it since it was available, but I keep lowballing its capabilities all the damn time. People are super cynical about it not getting things right... but it also consistently produces great recipes - even literally. Having vague knowledge about cooking, for example, and adding ingredients that harmonize well, will surprisingly result in tasty flavor combinations. Synthesis is huge. Yes, it is trained on existing tests and data, but it feels very, very human in how much it can make sense of seemingly novel combinations. Quite similar in that sense to what Dalle2 and SD do for text-to-image generative models.
More importantly, the time-based coherence is off-the-charts beautiful to witness. Even if the models keep joshing you around with BS answers, it finally truly feels like you're conversing with some sentient entity. Maybe it's a bit of a goofball, but even then its domain-specificity and knowledge is way, way better than my own or that of my more competent friends, and we still have so much room for improvement across the board. This is magic, calling it orders of magnitude better than GPT-3 is almost underestimating how huge this step is. 2022 is going to be the second distinct revolution, pretty much ten years after we kicked off the end of the decade-long AI-winter - because things are going to go wild from here on out. Impressive doesn't begin to describe what all this is.
You should try to ask chatGPT to give you the state of the board after every move. This way it won't make wrong moves.

As a user, this seems promising, seeing how software has become increasingly buggy due to management caring less and less about quality. AI could make up for that.
As an engineer, however... once AI does that, I'm not sure how I would earn a living.
Although... I do have a list of business ideas where I just don't have the time (and/or money) to implement them. If an AI could take care of that for me, guess I could just focus on the product design and hope that people will find it as useful/enjoyable as I think they will.

It's pretty good. Being non-US, I have noticed that the answers are mostly US skewed but that's the same with Google and others. EG: 'What are cash contributions on a mortgage?' is a completely different answer in the US to NZ. If you ask it to make in NZ specific, it just adds 'In New Zealand' to the same US based answer. Overall though, it's absolutely astounding, we are living in the future
I think the next step for these models is proper general purpose by way of some manner of self-directed indexing and deployment, wherein a main model prompts and develops sub models for task specific functions. I suppose this is kind of like automated hypernetworks, but if the model can self-expand; or your internal monologue and your subconscious.

I think, just maybe, this tech was already in use for a while by google/government or something. Theres no way my phone isn't listening 24/7 and sending data to servers and being parsed in the exact same way. I get very specific ad's just by verbally talking out loud. I think the fingerprint resolution is more dense than people think.

I've noticed when trying to recreate the pricing AI scenario, it tells me it's unable. Same with the perspective of the dog. I've got no idea what the difference here is, but it absolutely refuses.

That bash/python example you did at blew my mind. its crazy its able to interpret and more or less run code. My next thought is could it act as a very simple compiler? It should have perfect knowledge of any and all open source compilers and if it can "pretend" to run python code, what is stopping it from writing some assembly?
Nothing at all. In fact it can do all this stuff way better and easier, without any limitations whatsoever, technical, legal, moral or otherwise.
