Like the late, great Michael Jackson once said- “We need to learn to love again. There’s not enough love in this world.” Everyone hates each other nowadays. The country is so divided on everything, it’s disgusting. Human beings are selfish, competitive, and are losing morals more and more every day. This is not the same world I grew up in, shit is changing for the worse. We’re losing our freedom to speech, mental health is at an all time high, global warming is increasing. These are scary times. We need to learn to love each other and get along. And we need to stand up for what is right, we are capable of SO much more, if everyone got along, we would be super advanced and have a healthy, functioning world. But we are being held back by our toxic leaders. We are giving in to greed, selfishness, toxic relationships, etc. So I’m not surprised this world is collapsing and America has a head start. We could do better, but we choose not to. Things will only get worse if we don’t see the error of our ways and change. God bless
Even if they don't they are an empire. They can deny this, they can change the definition of empire all they want, at the end of the day they clearly are an empire.
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. After western Rome fell, eastern Rome survived another 1000 years and became the Byzantine empire. And then it was sacked by western crusaders, and finished off by the ottomans. In general it is the west that turns its back on the principles that made it great.

Empires thrive when their children are taught to believe in the empire. When an empire's children are taught to believe in only themselves; and to use the empire to get stuff and expect safety in return, the people of the empire will get neither and the empire falls.
@MsMissy An empire is a political construct in which one state dominates over another state, or a series of states. Currently, 573 sovereign tribal nations (variously called tribes, nations, bands, pueblos, communities, and Native villages) have a formal nation-to-nation relationship with the US government. During the 19th Century there were nearly a dozen sovereign states which ultimately came under United States jurisdiction, being subsumed into larger territories or else becoming states in their own right. So, yeah, I'm right and you've just been schooled.
@msmissy6888You being British has nothing to do with your knowledge of an Empire. My guy just because your country was once an Empire. It doesn't mean anything you weren't even alive when it was. That'd be like me saying because I'm in America. And I know the ins and outs of genocide or something like that that's absurd
America’s obsession with individualism, while seen by many as what has brought it a degree of success, is the millstone that prevents it from maximising its potential. Individualism by its very definition prioritises the singular over the many. Some would argue that individualism has enabled progress that wouldn’t otherwise been possible. However this model is responsible for the ever-declining middle class and the corresponding problems and costs of the widespread poverty caused. Rather than addressed, these problems are normalised. Without meaningful change matters will continue to deteriorate. The only way out is for not one, but a succession of competent, charismatic and visionary presidents who incrementally wean Americans away from excessive individualism. It’s not to turn America into some sort of socialist state, but invoke policies that strengthen and expand the middle class. The economic activity of the middle class fill the coffers of government and the wallets of the wealthy. Reducing poverty lessens the burden on all. The rest of the world might mock America, but deep down would much prefer it to do well. Everyone would be much better off if it did.
I agree on most of your post, except the last sentence. The world does not benefit is America did better because it a lot of the "economic prosperity" that yanks enjoy is due to the oppression of other countries around the world, particularly in South America and the Middle East. Unless it can clean up this act, america won't be missed.
For what my opinion worth, I agree with you, Revolutions usually start within the middle classes that feel squeezed between the upper and poverty classes. I think the old monied families of America, like the landed gentry in Britain are seeing their power go to increasingly going to the wealthy owners of production. This old monied class get very frightened by their loss of power. They react by trying to hold onto some vestige of respectability as a means of keeping influence amongst the middle classes who emulate their values. Hence the call for traditional values. in the Republican circle. The new money, tends to create libertarians and more free thinkers because they have the time, money and access to education because of the money. They also are more innovative because their money relies upon constant renewal. This group tend to buck the trend of tradition. The middle classes get caught between the new money that may make them redundant at any moment and the traditional that are powerless to stop the decline of middleclass livings. As the tensions rise the poor underclass see their opportunity to regain some power and the whole society descends into chaos. I agree too that the rest of the world are unlikely to want the USA to fail. A failed state does no one but the armourers any good.
From my mind this individualism is not really the American way. If you look at the settlement of USA, it was all about group co operation. Settlers helped each other haul goods and set up settlements. They helped each other through the depression. The churches thrive on community. Then from somewhere may be gold rush and land grab came the I"ve got mine, tough on you message. It is recent. Somewhere in the background something is wrong. Having said that UK worked well on fairly socialist principles. Them came Monetism when the rich white, Facist elite realised they were losing out and the deadly properganda started. Now Britain is in the sewer and USA is a tip. Not through the work of the individual person but through those that shouldn't have it taking more.
Cap. It’s your goofy ultra violent ultra sexualized culture which I guess ties into individuality a little. How tf are you guys gonna complain about inequality when your lower class is mexicos middle class? You cross the border from San az to Mexico and you see kids selling stuff on the street immediately, they have grind. Meanwhile you got america, the same country who killed 30 million babies in 30 years, preaches anti family sentiments, and has very little grind to work, complains about hard times. The saying is true “good times create weak men”
Difference is that leadership in America changes every four to eight years. All those previous regimes had one leader for 30-50 years. Once the leader dies, the country lives or dies by the new leader. If the leader is incompetent, there was no way to remove him unless there's a civil war.

Maybe not China but the entire world will have something like a Great Depression.both China and the US rely on each other by trade so if one collapses it might be the end
China is also on routes of collapsing, their people are starting to realise the truth about their living conditions, and have proven that a single black swan can make their government afraid (in China the fall of a dynasty is represented by a black swan, and one just arrived to their capital some months ago), and capitalism has become popular for them in increasing numbers, so it will actually be interesting to see who collapses first and what will the other one do once they think they have no rivals, which may cause their own collapse
Basically every current world power is in a gradual decline. I highly doubt the US, Russia and China will retain their immense spheres of influence by the end of the century.

Im 62 and its scary how much this country has fallen within my life time, especially in the last 10 years.
Exactly
Like the late, great Michael Jackson once said- “We need to learn to love again. There’s not enough love in this world.”
Everyone hates each other nowadays.
God bless

All empires fall. For America, maybe sooner than you think.
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. After western Rome fell, eastern Rome survived another 1000 years and became the Byzantine empire. And then it was sacked by western crusaders, and finished off by the ottomans. In general it is the west that turns its back on the principles that made it great.
Eastern Roman empire survived thanks to the Palestinians, Greeks and Syrians ancestors.

Folks that’s nothing compared to now. We are witnessing the fundamental collapse of that shiny beacon on a hill called America. It’s OVAH as spike would say.
And I know the ins and outs of genocide or something like that that's absurd
i wouldn't feel bad if it were to happen tbh.

Difference is that leadership in America changes every four to eight years. All those previous regimes had one leader for 30-50 years. Once the leader dies, the country lives or dies by the new leader. If the leader is incompetent, there was no way to remove him unless there's a civil war.
We may have different leaders, but the ideologies are the problem.
