R35 in 07??? I thought 09!! Maybe Japanese market was 07 but forsure 09 for us market, 2012 they revised the hp, front bumper, and computer tuning, stronger transfercase for that launch. Amazing vehicle
@uhahupIRA A cam is an internal engine mod. The stuff the GT-R has are bolt ons. And normally to get the most performance out of a cam you need full bolt ons. And the car in the video is only 5psi over stock.
Damn, that's quite some impressive numbers there. Way to go Nissan.
@uhahupIRA Just got some clarity. He is in fact running 18 psi. I was wrong about that. Bottom line is he is almost in the 9s with just bolt ons like the Z06 is with a cam and exhaust. Those are both respectable times and thats why I own a Z06 but have respect for the GT-R

@joanemil you make a good point, but you have to remember that this is a brand new GTR, the previous GTR did indeed get beat out by those guys, however should that race be run now, the result would be much different.
@undeadkillers True it would be a killer as well. The GT-R is primarily RWD when going in a straight line anyway. Though not completely RWD with a 30% front and 70% rear drivetrain bias the car uses just enough bite to pull from the front, but primarily from the rear. If the Corvette were to be AWD then I would like to see the comparison. I love Corvette's and have driven many, but it fails in comparison to the GT-R as it stands right now.
@250honda Well the PTM ZR1 has been out a year now and still no track times or a nurb time, the best Motor Trend achived with the PTM ZR1 was 0.5 faster than the old ZR1... Released 2010!!!
@kageryu311 The Nissan Gtr's 7.26 (2009) and 7.24 (2011) lap times were never independently confirmed and verified as bone stock and what's even more obvious is that no one else has come even close independantly to nissan's claims. Secondly there have been numerous occasions where the gt3 has equalled or bettered a gtr's lap time. My previous point about higher power outputs goes to prove that not every thing that nissan says can be trusted
@rsxzx6r and the Z06 starts around $74,000, and Z06 Carbon is about $90,000.
And dosent need twin turbos, all wheel drive, and has less HP...but what matters the most here, its cheaper and faster around the track and in a straight line over the GTR
the GTR is only good for 0-60, thats about it...
@tinleo333 No matter how you slice it the 2012 GTR is way faster then a stock Z06 from 0-60 and on a track that much is known. With that being said people also don't buy Corvettes to drive there kids to school... Its something you take out on the weekend or when the weathers nice. There not meant to be daily drivers. You don't see people with Ferrari's driving there kids to school in them or going to the grocery store.
@Mikedelike ive never driven the car a doubt i ever will and its far from my favourite car, but i do know things about it, its handling is 1 of its best characteristics, ferrari took the whole car apart to try and find out how nissan had made it so quick around corners despite its weight but their engineers couldnt figure out why and as far as i know they still dont know how its so fast......

The time on the screen is Nissans claimed time the two cars are trying to reach, hasn't been done yet. Theres 2 GT-R's, white and gray, both attempting the same thing. If there was an official full lap time then there would be official section times which there aren't. Yes I know about the 7:38, it WAS ON SPEC V RIMS, you can see them in SportAutos pictures and video. The 7:26.7 is a 2010 FULL SPEC V version not just rims, do you even read the articles you rip your stats from?
Nissan would like to remind you that R mode is only to be used to get out of a slippery mud/snow situation. Never know when you need 4,000 rpm to get out of those snowy conditions ;-)
@SugaryPrince It just goes to show with the statement Nissan is making, with a car less than $100,000 can make an AMAZING car, that will put those ridiculously priced supercars to shame, still being a hand made car, and probably easier to drive as well.
@innie721 Those with the exception of Launch control are called SAFETY FEATURES.
Traction Control with the touch of a button is off in a ZR1. Not something an experienced track driver wants. And Launch Control is only for amateurs, pros dont need it.
FYI the fastest supercomputer on Earth is the Raytheon system developed in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the F/A 22 Raptor Stealth Fighter. Civilian supercoms dont even compare..
@philonetic yeah the zo6 can get 0-300kph faster than the GT-R(2008-'011)
but if you race them when the z06 gets 300kph still the gtr is still leading cause of acceleration. . that's why they created the ZR1 to make an additional topspeed,power etc. and add few accel. that's why the GTR lose cause of the more topspeed
how about in 2012 hitting 200mph(hope so)
but we'll just wait and watch soon if they'll making the 2012 GTR competing with the ZR1 and others
@dragonamt LFA is a limited production car and was never meant to be a competitor to a GTR. By they way, they are all sold out. So, enough with the "who would buy this" arguement.
@olney28 If you think that is so you need to look at the Z06 carbon again. You couldn't be so much more wrong. It has the same suspension and carbon brakes that the ZR1 has. not to mention similar carbon fiber pieces and body kit than the ZR1 (minus the fenders)

Now, call us cynical, but we think the car we tested was a RINGER because the 599 was quicker off the mark than the Lamborghini LP640, which has a better power-to-weight ratio and the benefit of all-wheel drive. The Corvette Z06 is also slower despite its better pound-per-horsepower relationship.
Get it?When Ferrari stop sending modded cars for test....you will realise the 458 is no match for ZR1.
@kumarsOO11 The basic DNA is the same as the old one but of course the car has evolved a lot. Whether you like the 911 or hate it I suppose depends a lot on how much you like that basic shape, and I just happen to love it, especially knowing that it's got the lowest coefficient of drag in the business (same as a '69 Charger Daytona, actually :-P ). But styling is where the GT-R really drops the ball for me, because it looks like the people who styled the front and back never met each other.
@olney28 You aren't getting it. The GT-R is a performance bargain because it DOES hold up against its competition. Its skidpad braking and slalom are among the best in the market. Its times on the drag strip alone won't determine this and regardless the GT-R's 1/4 mile times are great. 11.1's in the 1/4 is right up to par and not many cars are faster than that from the factory yet.
@xabipp Lets be serious here. On an honest note you gotta give it the GT-R for weighing 3900lbs and doing 11 flats and trapping higher than the GT500 despite the GT500 being lighter and making more power. Also that all of the cars here out do the Euro Competition for a fraction of the price.
@datpimpinboy I agree, a 0-60 time under 3 seconds for such an inexpensive car is pretty admirable. However, who would want more than one GT-R? If I had the money to buy a Veyron, I'd probably get one, since it beats pretty much anything out there at almost anything.
People who've driven it agree that it's like nothing else; the Veyron is in a league completely of its own, making it worth the money. No one else makes anything like it, which is why they can ask that much money for it.
@Corveette I imagine its like driving an extremely fast car that can accommodate a car seat.
i didnt know that the 911 turbo pdk is faster then 3 seconds in 0-60 but the 2,9 sec from the new gt-r are very impressive
HEY!! When you give the info for the lateral acceleration, don't give the numbers of last years model, because it made me forget them and I had to go back. lol
@HellionX not really a replacement for displacement... find me a import with small displacement that can have 7000hp and run 3's in the 1/4 mile and we'll talk...its obvious you get a car with large displacement (ANY CAR) and a car with little displacement, do the exact mods, the car with the larger displacement is going to be faster HENCE there is no replacement for displacement...just because a car can beat another car stock from the factory doesnt mean its at its full potential

Nevermind I see, yeah even the 7:38 was on spec-v rims. For an official real life time for GT-R there with all production road specs... I dunno, I think the best official is 7:49 or something.
Here is a video on youtube where a stock 2013 Nissan GT-R does 0-60 in 2.7s and 1/4 mile in 10.8s.
Just type this in youtube and hit search "2013 Nissan GT-R 0-60 mph in 2.7s with Launch Control LC4" See for yourself. The Nissan GT-R is a Track Super Sports Car that happen to be fast in a straight line as well.

This car deserves an Oscar, Grammy, Car of the Decade, Car of the Year, Nobel Peace Prize, Japanese AND German Car of the Year (lol), and most importantly, The poor-man's (well, 91k poor) Gundam Award.
@uhahupIRA almost everyone can get in the gt-r 0-60 in 2.9sec but in the zr-1 or Z0-6 you have to be an expert to get 3.7-4.0sec 0-60mph

And trust me...I'm not hating on this car.This is just a fragment of you're imagination.Ever since I was like 9 my love for cars started.No matter what brand , nationality...the wholesome bang.I just love fast cars.
@philonetic Does it need the PTM??? It was supposed to be so much better than anything without!!! Well I can tell you the PTM was driven around in April 2010 by Marc Basseng and it only did 7:24.4 so 2 seconds off is not 5... That's why there are no PTM track times because it's only just a tiny bit better and Willow Springs 1:23, yeah and? What's your piont??? GTR Contidrom 1:30.95... ZR1 1:31.14... PTM ZR1 Motor Trend was 0.5 faster than a base ZR1 proving it was not much better!!!
@olney28 And so do GT-Rs. How many half million dollar cars can keep up with a 90k Nissan? 7:24 puts the GT-R in the #11 spot on the nurburgring and makes it the 4th fastest regular production car in the world. I wouldn't put down that accomplishment.
When Nissan does it, they do it! My favorite car brand period, and they make the best cars in their class.
Ok but just to put the numbers up, the GTR has a slower top speed by 3mph, and is only faster in acceleration from 0-60 over ZR1, they have almost the exact same 1/4 time (2012 models), the GTR has a skidpad of 0.89g factory and peaks at about 1.02 with racing tires, where the ZR1 is at 1.03g on standard tires. When I look at these numbers with stats and ZR1 performing better on smaller tracks, it's understandable why ZR1 performs better on smaller circuits, and GTR excels elsewhere.
@QrazyQracker13 I agree the the zr1 is a plastic bathtub. By the way the 2013 is sadly going to be 7,000 dollars more.

@kageryu311 naw, i know about godzilla. what i'm saying is when people talk about the gt-r no one speaks of the overall performance the big talk is about the acceleration times(0-60 & 1/4 mile not the trap speed of the quarter though) i'm not knocking that, that's the gt-r's thing, but i'm not going to believe an all offensive player is better than an all around player. the gt-r cannot be comp for the zr-1 if it's not better than the zo6.
@sw1000xg You do realize that if any car were made of plastic, the body would warp and crack over-night due to the temperature changes right? And I don't think plastic body panels would be strong enough to withstand the Z06's 198 mph top speed.
@SleeperSHO Of course they did. Do you know how easy it is to hit a stationary target? The ZR1 has been out for 3 years now, of course someone is going to catch up and beat it. Just like I'm sure the C7 Z06 will smoke the 2012 Nissan GT-R. Its not that amazing, its how the world works.
BTW you clearly have never been in a GT-R if you say its "more livable" and those "back seats" are more like a shelf. And the vette is made out of fiber glass, carbon fiber, and aluminum, not plastic.

@blazzing4321 the 2012 GTR ran the nurburgring in 7:24 (in semi -wet conditions)...vs the ZR1 7:26 (in Dry condidtions)...GTR 0-60 2.9 vs ZR1 0-60 3.3...zr1 has 100hp more and cost 30k more...try the GTR spec v...

@speedgerald pre 2012 GTR goes to 300 kp/h in 1 minute and 5 seconds...ZR1 does it @ 30 seconds....do you honestly believe a car that barely traps 122 mph will beat a car that traps 133 @ 1/4 in a standing mile event?!?!?
You will need a binoculars to see where the Z is after the 1/4 mile marker.
@kageryu311 no sir, a performance bargain vehicle will win its share of comparision test against the car that cost however many x's more if the gt-r does not have the advantage on the drag strip (as far as times), it does not hold up that well.

The ZR1 has launch control, and according to GM, the best 0-60 time you can get is 0-60 in 3.4 (way slower than the Nissan). With a flawless launch, the 1/4 mile time is about the same as the GTR, but with a higher trap speed.. At the end of the day, the GTR is likely going to win more times than not, unless you have an extremely experienced driver behind the Vette, and a shitty one behind the Nissan. Both cars are definitely masterpieces, so there's no reason to be upset.

And that video you showed me was the 2011 Z06 vs the New GTR...Wait until motortrend or whoever releases the "2012 ZR1 or Z06 Test"...high 10's allday
@1vdn992 And how does the car give up mid range power? You have no substantial evidence to back up your claim. A car that traps 124mph in the 1/4 has plenty of mid range power.
All I know is sleepdoc did a 10.01 @ 137mph in his GT-R with bolt ons and E85.

Nissan is eager to tell the world that it hasn’t “officially” set any kind of Nürburgring lap time with its revised 2012 GT-R
In 2009, in a full "super test" sport auto achieved a time of 7:38 minutes on the Nürburgring with a standard GT-R driven by Horst von Saurma, identical to a later Corvette ZR1 time.

Um, GTR is 90K and ZR1 is 110K. So the diff IS 20K. And didn't the ZR1 BARELY edge out the new GTR on the n-ring, despite it being a 7+ minute lap? So, I doubt the corvette would win easily on shorter tracks.

I'm not downing the GT-R, if I had the choice I'd take GT-R over ZR1 every time, no question. I'm just saying, don't down on the ZR1 when it's a masterpiece of engineering, it's a killer in ALMS, has so many championships it's ridiculous.
If I ever win the lottery, this will be the first thing I buy.

@kageryu311 you're kidding me do thoroughly read any statement i post??? i said "a performance bargain vehicle will win its share of comparision test aganist the car that cost many times more." comparision test consist of breaking, slalom, skid pad (lateral g's), ect.. if the gt-r does not have a quicker drag time than its comp most likely it will not hold up well in anyother event.

I'll agree, the Porsche, Lamborghini, and Ferrari is more of a status symbol in the world of sports cars. I'll take this GTR over anything.
@ddouglasinc Well seeing as this is the FIRST test on this car and the ZR1 has had many to prove itself, don't make yourself look like a novice and argue before this car really gets tested! Besides the fact that the GT-R has proven itself WORLDWIDE better than the Corvette, when this GT-R is run through some more tests on the varied tarmac your precious ZR1 was tested on, it will run circles around it. Argue all you want now, but just remember I told you first!
@Mcgrady690 Also Sport Auto conducted a test around the with the prosche gt3 rs mk2 and recorded a 7.33 the same year as the gtr's 7.38
ok people's talk about Z06 yes is a very fast car for the money but the gt-r is just better a very tuned z06 with drag tires maybe is faster but we are talking about street car with street tires that you can buy at any tire shop the awd system it has more traction than the rwd corvette in any condition especially if is raining the interior has better quality ,back seat is just better for most people and if you want the fastest american supercar is the ford gt-r or saleen s7 not the corvette.

@mtgear1 haven't you seen the stock ZR1 doing 10.7's @ 133+ mph? Check it out it's here on youtube and couple of other 10.79's 10.82's 10.85s...
@nismo007 You really can't compare both engines in my humble opinion.One is OHV and the other is DOHC...
If you do some research about OHV engines you will see the BIG ASS difference between them both.
Can't wait for Switzer and AMS to tune this GTR up.

@uhahupIRA Vacuum leaks can be caused by improper maintenance of the car. You beat the car to hell it can cause that. I had a vacuum leak in my Z06 last year after a long road trip. TPS issues aren't common but it sounds like he needs to check his tires or get one of the sensors replaced.
If this is your deal to say that the car is a big fail, nice try dude. Why don't you actually go on NAGTROC and talk to people and see if they are having the same issues. They aren't.

@dandamansrandomvids thaqt had issues ive hoped theyve solved them. neighbour bought one. been in for trans replacement and repair twice now. and hes not hard on his automobiles either. i love my vettes. but id drive one of these for sure
@uhahupIRA Also if you go on NAGTROC the GT-R guys are happy because the GT-R beat the Z06 carbon on the streets of willow. A base Z06 would get killed on the track by a GT-R.

but theres some dynos for the zr1 which puts around 505 and 530 put probably mustang dyno

@uhahupIRA I've seen numerous Camaros get 10s with a 124mph trap speed. All I'm saying is that 11.1 isn't all the car has for the 1/4 mile. Tuned 09-11 GT-Rs were do 10s with just a tune as you can see here.
As for maintenance Its far less expensive if you do the maintenance yourself. People pay 1/4 of what they pay at Nissan if they do the labor themselves. Now enough of this "Z06/ZR1 is better than the GT-R" in a GT-R video because people here care more about the GT-R than the vettes.

People with Ferraris and Lamborghinis buy them to go pick up supermodels in clubs, they have no interest in racing and are not worried about this car.
If it was a performance issue, then they would just go buy one...or three.

The guy with the 458 Italia can definitely buy a GT-R, not necessarily the other way around.
The GT-R was a bargain at $75,000, at almost $100,000, it is not anymore.
That is why they are not selling.

@xabipp Yeah because the GT500 would beat it from a rolling start. The GT-R traps 6mph faster than the GT500 (118mph vs 124) and has a better aero and drag coefficient. The Z06 would beat the GT-R from a roll due to better power to weight and better gearing for roll on races but the GT500 wouldn't hold a candle from a roll unless it has a pulley or something.
@1vdn992 How is the car automatic? The car has a dual clutch automatic like many ferraris and lamborghini models offer. And how does the car require no skill when you haven't driven the car. Don't use stupid quotes either because you haven't driven the car yourself.
