That’s what I’m saying! I remember at the beginning of covid this came out and I watched it on a rainy night and I fell in love with it and watched it like 3 times in a week. But for some reason, no one knows about it. I always feel this emptiness inside of me when I finish the movie, it’s pretty sad.
My uncle is retired special forces. We watched this movie and I asked him if anything like this could happen. He said he had MULTIPLE chances to do something like this. The robbery is the easy part. Getting it back to the states is much harder.
Most former rangers,SF,navy seals left the military to do civilian contract work during the Iraq & Afghanistan wars.Guys would do deployments to Iraq, leave the military for contract work, especially guys who retired from the military. Make wayyy more money than serving in the military too.
Not only is it possible but the Green Berets in particular are infamous for the number of times they've had units busted for stealing fuckloads of cash when working overseas. It happens like once or twice a decade.
I'm glad someone remembers this film. Hidden gem for sure. I was expecting a generic action movie where 5 spec ops gun down thousands of "jungle bandits", but it turned out way better. The plot offered something different, something deeper, and the small "twist" in the mountains when the young men catch up with the group added more weight to the story. Damn, gotta rewatch it now.
This movie was sooooooo fire. you’re the first person on UA-cam that I’ve seen actually make a video about it. Super underrated. Probably one of the last good Netflix original films. I found this during covid I’m pretty sure in like 2020
This is one of the movies I rewatch cause of how good it is. Not just the firefights and the tactics they do but how they portray veterans. We know they were some kind of special forces and were damn good at their job, some would even call them heroes. But in the civilian life, they are nothing, they are struggling financially and not even their pensions can give them a comfortable life. Imagine spending your best years fighting for your country, getting shot at, and you might die at any moment, and then after all your service, you're not even compensated well or given enough benefits to live out the rest of your life in retirement. Really says a lot about being in the military. This is why some former special forces guys go into contract work cause it pays much more.
I did contract work after 4 deployments to Iraq ( I volunteered for all 4 tours, also did 2 tours back-to-back ) with Texas Guard infantry units. I was bored with working 2 full time civilian jobs, wanted a true-CHALLENGE-and dangerous work. So,off I went to Iraq. LOL. GO-GUARD !!!
When they are loading the bags into the van and someone says "there's still more!" , Ben Afflecks character says keep going. That is the moment, that greed took over. That had well over their target amount, but he says to get more. That moment right there, was their downfall.
Hey man, I'm from Perú, and I remember watching this movie with my mother. She really enjoys action movies. This movie sticked with me, and it is so nice to see people talk about it. I guess what I always come back to in this movie is how... benign(?) the journey felt. I am not talking about the ending, rather, the whole journey. It felt like the characters were going through the motions, hopping for a light at the end of the tunnel, but knowing very well there was none. I'm not sure if I am expressing well the feeling the movie gave me, but it was human.
Yep true as even if the characters (played by famous actors) being former US Army Delta Force operators, greed sure's a huge factor that caused them to get into worse & stupid situations where the risks out weights the rewards.
The key point that kills it for me. These ex SF guys, from GWOT, no way you are telling me they have never dealt with cash. Seizing cash, paying off locals, escorting it etc. It would have been a known quantity to at least ONE of them, and they would have done the math and calculated the weight and transpo required for it.
The cast was already very well established and this film cost 115 million to make, so I’m not sure why you think their star power rose afterwards or it would’ve been impossible to get the same actors today lol
Really liked the movie, still refer to it when speaking about greed. Not only the drug dealer living on a jail like mansion in the jungle but losing só much trying to get it all.
This movie had a very nice premise. The 1st and 2nd act were great, however, they seem not to know how to end it. Anyhow i digress, too much greed would lead to one's downfall.
If it was set in the gta verse. The triple frontier nations of South America would be Brazilian Empire and Argentina because Paraguay and Uruguay would be a part of the Brazilian empire. And Argentina would be a Brazilian puppet. It would called the nova sertao or something like that.
I honestly disliked this movie so much because it seemed like they just found four guys with medeocre gun training and slapped a “special forces” label on them. Look at how Pedro pascal holds his ak. Also as a squad leader your role is to make sure your team is on schedule NO MATTER WHAT. It was just so unrealistic for me that it ruined the entire movie. Also him dying to me was easy to see from a mile away.
dog how difficult would it have been for you to look up the actors names it is charlie HUN-NUM, not Charlie Hun-Man. I could not watch past the 2 minute mark because of this minor yet way over sighted blunder. C’mon man
The gun play was so trash in this one it really threw me off. Other than that i liked it well enough. Just get a consultant, if its simple enough for me to notice it then you're obviously not trying. Even an high school physics class could tell you that partially shouldering a stock will give you extra vertical recoil based off leverage. No one that shoots shoots like that, and he's supposed to be an expert? I wish I never got into shooting so I could enjoy action movies again.
Honestly the only lesson i learned from this movie is don't push a cold war era helicopter past its limits
Finally somebody looks at this movie
I always really enjoyed this movie. I’ve rewatched it quite a few times but no one talks about it. I thought I maybe just had a unique taste.
I agree, this movies really good

Loved this movie because it reminded me of Ghost Recon Wildlands.
yeah i def got similar vibes from it
After this movie came out it was before breakpoint and I would go to the mountains in that game and recreate Ben’s characters death
Heck yeah. Got the same vibes too while watching.

This came out right at peak of that game 🤘👌

Appreciate that! I noticed there wasn't much coverage on it hopefully we can keep finding more cool military films!

One of my favorite movies of all time (and highly highly under rated.) Really badly need a prequel or sequel, one of the best cast ever assembled.
Definitely agree
Ben Affleck got paid $8 million to be in this movie for 25 mins. He got away with more money than the robbers did.

Dude... maybe a mil or 5 but nothing close to the amount depicted here...
Is not about dealing with cash, they were in desperate need of money, especially Ben affleck, since he wasn’t working and needed money badly
They went over target. They were loading in the van and ben affleck made them go back for more cash despite having already hit the number they wanted.

Really want them to release this on hard copies.
That time when Batman, Moon Knight, and the Mandalorian robbed a druglord.
Super underrated film.
This film didn't realize its full potential in terms of addressing its themes.
Heavily agree. I think they were betting on a sequel

Still my favourite movie. Reminds me lots of Spec Ops the line regarding morality.
Great film, seen it at least 4 times definitely a very underrated film
I agree definitely not talked about enough
@BranWolfYT rumour has it there's a second one in the works 👀
@Alex-u1r2i I saw that! Hopefully a second one actually comes out
The film has amazing at foreshadowing too. But its timid and you understand it only when you watch the film multiple times.

Honestly I watched it cause I love Charlie hunnam and his amazing role as Jax and the gentlemen, and of course pacific rim
You should also check out The Contractor starring Chris Pine and Transfusion with Sam Worthington

Wtf are you talking about? Deja lo que sea que te estes metiendo
This movie pays tribute to location shooting. Hollywood & TV today is too reliant on LED backgrounds today and it's awful and feels fake.
Sometimes I feel like this was based on a true story 😅
genuinely loved this movie, hated that ben affleck’s character died he was absolutely my favorite
Same here
great movie
They have the barest plate carriers I’ve ever seen lol three mags and a carabiner. Good to go lol
120 rounds plus a pistol with no reload in a hostile country fighting cartels......yea I'll be fine. LMAO.
This movie was stacked with actors
Since this movie came out I try to find santiagos baseball cap with the star on it.
Anyone in the yt comments an idea?
I've looked for it to brother. If I ever find it I will let you know
F****** great actors I have no idea why I never watched or finished watching the movie
You ever consider making ready or not content? Seem like up your alley with cod
@MalaysianChopsticks definitely been looking for a way to make it work I hope to get some videos out on that soon
