I sincerely love Jaskier and I love Joey, his voice is amazing. But this song in particular... It is so well intoned and the lyrics are simply spectacular. You can feel the irony, the pain and the rage in every verse. Then there's that moment near the end, where he gasps after screaming so much, like it's a moment of weakness amid all that anger. Joey is an excellent actor and an excellent musician, this song made my hair stand on end and although there are times I have to say "oh come on Jask shut up" I can't just not love him. Hope he gets more screen time next season.

@@northgambit Yeah the literal sound of it. The vocal processing on the spotify version is much more unnatural and piercing to my ears. I have studio monitors calibrated to harman target so it's not a problem on my end. The team who mixed the spotify version seemingly like excessive treble as that's exactly what happened this time.
if you want more songs like this Joey (Jaskier's actor) just released an album with his band The Amazing Devil and it is EXACTLY this vibe. I would recommend Blossoms if you want another song that has that kind of defiant melancholy feeling this one does
I prefer the way it's sung in the actual scene. It's more fast paced and there's more depth to it with the open room. Plus that drum! Really added to the song. The "album" version is a bit slower and some of the notes are different. Absolutely glorious song though! Even better than Toss A Coin To Your Witcher! 😁😁

And there's Saltatio Mortis for more medieval metal. I hope this is kinda what you mean since i'm more of a metalhead. Oooh wait! Merrigan on UA-cam might be what you're looking for. She makes medieval type music based on folklore and yes also does covers. Like Lullaby of Woe from the Witcher 3, the Dragonborn Comes from Skyrim and the bard songs from Dragon Age
