I just received mine today,, X01 Build with DT swiss wheels,, I was disappointed that it weighs over 32 pounds with my pedals, but I have not ridden it yet.
Love your channel !! Great reviews & Love the way you put all the points together in an easy to watch way, everything is clear & enjoyable !!! 🌲🌲🚵🌲🌲 Like your good self I've got a Yeti SB 5.5 Turq which is a fantastic bike but I'm selling it for the New Yet SB 150 & doing a custom build, I live in Yorkshire near a place called Skipton in the UK. I've really enjoyed your review of the Yeti SB 150, if you reply give me your thoughts on the 150 🌲🌲🏞️🚵🌲🌲
If you like your 5.5 you will love the 150. It is better in almost every way, at least for me. Do not regret the change in the least, it is a monster bike!
It's smooth. It's fast. It climbs AWESOME. It's really poppy and playful yet planted like it's on rails. Traction is SUPER CONFIDENCE INSPIRING. ITS JUST PLAIN BAD ASS. GET ONE.
Great review just tested the 130 felt the front was too low and limiting for me. The 150 seems perfect. Want to ride and compare it to the new giant reign 29 and the SC Hightower.
I would love to see a direct comparison to the 2019 YT Jeffsy CF Pro Race. The geometry numbers are very close, and it would be interesting to see how the suspension designs differ in the climbing abilities. I know the Yeti is more enduro and closer to the Capra in many ways but the Jeffsy is a 150mm travel bike with a Fox 36 up front.
D D i think these two bikes are totally different. Jeffsy has got 66 - SB150 has got 64,5 HA. Jeffsy is a trail bike, 150 is an Enduro monster. If you would like to compare it to YT line up you should do it with Capra.
Which is the better bike for a guy riding PNW trails, intermediate looking to get better, not really bike park type of rider, the 130 or the 150 ? Worry that the 130 might be a little undergunned for if I get better / more confident and get into enduro type riding. Also for a dude about 182 cm and about 100kg of about average proportions, would you go with a large or medium ? Great review, btw. One of these might end up being my next bike.
I would say the SB130 would be the better overall choice and I would probably go with the Large with those proportions. Check out my head to head video of these bikes for more.
@@IslandBikeLife Thanks for the response. Checked out your video. I was leaning that way, you just helped me to nail it down. Will wait till next year, otherwise the wife will murder me in my sleep.
Yes I think it will be, I had a Large 5.5 that fit okay but should have been on an XL. The L 150 fits just about perfect and the XL is about the same size as an XL Sentinel (review on the channel) which I could manage but it would have been too large. At 6’6” the XL should be about spot on for you, it is a huge bike.
@@IslandBikeLife but you have to agree the SB 150 DH makes up for the slight climb difference? Im torn i live in Edmonton and going to order i bike tomorrow. I ride mostly Edmonton trails but do make Revelstoke about 4 times a year. Also I'm built like a Clydesdale at 6'1" and 240 lbs, i think the large would be a great fit and the bigger shocks may be a better ride? Great videos, but so hard to decide when both bikes are so close.
Just saw the Firebird review and note you've chosen the 150 over that for yourself. Any major reason for that decision? Enjoying the channel also mate, good stuff. Cheers
@@IslandBikeLife awesome, just curious as to your opinion there. So you felt the 150 was more capable for use as a trail bike? Due to pedalling platform? I ride a fair bit of flat (trails) and climbs but for the aim of descending so keen for a bike that is effective in both climb and trail also. Thanks
For that purpose I would say the Yeti would be the better choice. Both are very big long travel bikes so you will want to balance that with the types of trails you are descending. The 150 is realistically probably too much bike for most of my trails but I made the decision I would over bike my current needs to allow for better range on road trips/travelling to help the content for the channel.
Awesome review! How would you say the rear suspension feel compares to the 2019 Santa Cruz Bronson? Im considering the Bronson or SB150 as my next bike.
Different. The Switch Infinity Link is great all around. Bronson is a bit more squishy overall in every situation but the 150 is more so when descending.
Interesting. TBH I don't concern my self too much with how the bikes climb since they all do a pretty good job these days. I am more concerned with how the suspension feels while descending. which one would you say has a better suspension feel while descending and why? I plan to demo both this month hopefully, just curious what you think since you own one now. For example, while braking and descending, do you notice one to be more harsh than the other? Thanks in advanced man!
I find both platforms very responsive and able to soak up big hits and chunky sections. The Bronson feels more playful and less planted where the 150 is a good balance of poppy and planted depending on how you want to ride. On small hits or chattery areas I found the Bronson a bit more harsh (could have been a shock setup issue) but on big hits/drops I prefer the 150. Good initial stroke and firm but not hard end stroke making it feel more bottomless. The Bronson was similar but on big drops I found the end had a bit more of a noticeable end ramp up.
They seem very close in comparison. It would be interesting how the Bronson would perform with the fox float X2 shock and a 170mm fork.. Anyways, thanks for your reply!
I haven't ridden an SB150 but I have demoed a '19 SC bronson. The SC was an absolute beast. It felt like velcro going up the side of single track and begged to be pushed harder in the descent. I found the front end to super responsive allowing me to get my weight over the bars in fast tight turns. It was one of the most enjoyable bikes I've ever ridden. I was on a size large and im 5'10 5-11ish. I agree with island bike life in that it was a little harsh in the chattery areas (As this was a demo this might have been a shock issue for me as well). Additionally, I felt that I bottomed out the back shock on large drops. I would definitely have liked to increase the back psi and add a volume spacer. With that said the bike was otherwise flawless. Composed in the air, fast on the descents, and nimble in the corners. I too am between these two bikes and the evil offering (although not really same category). I'm hopefully demoing a SB150/130 next month. I've been a diehard 29er fan but that SC is pretty compelling. What's not so compelling for these bikes is the price lol. Great review Island Bike Life BTW.
They have the sb130 for that.. It smashes... Both up and down.. Climbs almost as good as the 4.5 but destroys it going down.. The industry did get it right with the 130
For me better in both regards. Easily better climbing and depending on what you like going down it is tasters choice for sure both are extremely capable and fast.
Hi I have some question 150 u use it for normal bike rides not only bike parks ? I looking to buy a 150 or 130LR but where i live i dont have bikepark so this is only option for weekends. I ride normal trail more of the week, like 3-4 h rides. So i don't know if i will be able to ride for so long on 150. That why I asking if u can keep up on 150 on normal rides? Thx in advance Szymon
Based on your comments with this bike, thus that means that this is the best bike for you with regards to your style of riding and the trail you are riding on.
Not necessarily the best but the one I am currently on. There really is never one perfect bike. This one just speaks to me right now and checks off a few of the criteria I wanted in a new rig.
thank you for the great review...I am planning to replace my 5.5 frame with a sb 150 quite soon but I have been reading some other sb 150 users who report front shock bushing play and rear triangle flexing more than it should be...have you noticed some of these issues?? cheers again!!!
You are riding glorified BMX tracks and I did not see any real speed or playfulness in your riding style, or are you just saying what every other mediocre mtb reviewer says. Stop drinking the punch dude.
Great review, thanks for being ahead of everyone and getting this info to us!
Cheers thanks for watching

Yeah the Jeffsy looks pretty amazing. I am trying to arrange for some YT demos but it is proving very difficult.

That fox 36 on front is 150mm??
Congrats on your new bike! now mow more lawns(somebody had to say it)
Overtime like crazy!!!
ibis Ripmo comparison please BTW thanks for the great review!
Not the same kind of bike. RipMo morning efficiency in pedal but the Yeti smashes it going down.
Great video. 👍
Cheers thanks!

What size 5.5 did you ride before this bike? I'm 6' 6" and find their XL 5.5 pretty small feeling. Hopefully the XL 150 will be a great fit.
Yes I think it will be, I had a Large 5.5 that fit okay but should have been on an XL. Have you had a chance to ride the SB 130 LR or demo yet? If so would you still pick the SB 150 for your riding area?
Probably not, the LR is a better bike for around here. Better climbing and almost equal descending.

That trail looks awesome buddy, how did you like the new stumpy?
It was rad, really liked it a lot! Great trail bike overall.
Just saw the Firebird review and note you've chosen the 150 over that for yourself. Any major reason for that decision? Enjoying the channel also mate, good stuff. Cheers
No one reason more than the other. I preferred the pedalling platform for general trail riding and climbing on the Yeti over the Pivot.

how does it corner compared to the other bikes you've ridden ?
It corners well and similar to most others. I have no issues with the bike in this way.
have you ridden the sentinel and if so comparative thoughts please.
He posted a Sentinel video a couple months ago: ua-cam.com/video/6bpTZ5nBSiU/v-deo.html
Better than Santa Cruz Bronson and or HighTower LT?
Yes very much so. It a different bike/purpose.
Climbing and downhill Vs the pivot f29?

What size frame and how tall are you? Reach is longer than the 5.5 does that bother you?
Late frame and the fit is perfect. 6’2”
Island Bike Life I think he said XL. Probably one of the only reviewers that mentions rider height and bike size. Very useful
Island Bike Life Sorry Large.
could you review the 2019 scott ransom?
I can try, there is a new Scott dealer by me that I can reach out too.
