This says the "ultimate guide". This better be more informative than the other 10 Smith-Morra videos on UA-cam
Edit: this was way more energetic and colorful than any of the other Smith-Morra breakdowns. Keep up the good work.
Can't wait to see this line in every blitz game for the next month
In Naroditsky's speedrun you could see an important line where black can force a draw or be much better. Black plays d6 and then e6, develops the knights to c6 and f6, doesn't commit the light square bishop by moving it, plays Be7, meets Rd1 with e5 and only after that black plays Be6.
If white doesn't play Be3 you play Bg4 threatening Nd4, however if white does play Be3 you go Ng4 in order to take the bishop on e3, if white doesn't want to give the bishop away and plays Bd2, then black moves the Knight back to f6 and threatens repetition.
I play the queens gambit in like 25% of my games and then the show came out...so I feel that lol
Love your relationship with your mother and father... it's great to see. Not only that but what a chess resource to have access to!
At 19:51, Bg5 is a blunder. You go from +5 to 0.0. The correct move is Rxd7, as surprising as it looks.
Agree that Bg5 gives up the advantage and Rxd5! wins. However, Bxd7+! is also winning.
Correction: Instead of Bg5?, Rxd7! wins, but Bxd7+! also wins.
Omg Anna this needs more views! Beginners, intermediates beware!!
At 12:00 the move is absolutely NOT 0-0?!. If you castle in this position Black has the option of playing ...Nxe4 followed by Nxe4 and d5!! equalizing at the start of the game. The variation is called the „improved“ Siberian and the move is Qe2!? followed by a swift e5 and Nb5 if Black‘s Queen ventures out to c7 as she often does in the Siberian. For more information buy Marc Esserman‘s book Mayhem in the Morra.
True
Hey do you happen to know what is Marc's recommendation after 5...Nf6 at 11:04 ? I can't find it
I took back my comment
Just what I was looking for. An opening against the Sicilian, the typical lines are dull and thus I haven't taken time to learn. And so I wind up playing the Sicilian of the seat of my pants and wind up losing at high %. This I will try to learn a few moves deep and a couple of variations. Thanks.
And yeah openings for non GM's don't really matter if after a few moves the engine still has game close to even. For us lowly rated players it's all about what style we like because whatever opening we use, we will better at since we get familiar with positions and it's strengths and weaknesses.
I wouldn't call the Sicilian dull but it DOES have a lot of theory that I don't want to learn!
In old games the queen is always under attack as well as the horses. The rook and bishops aren't very dangerous.
The first to move is infiltrated fitst.the pawns advance until they are wiped out then it's on
Hikura loves the Smith Morra Gambit
I missed this stream all the way through the end so nice of her to put it up here...lots of love Miss cramling
This was great Anna thank you so much
Naka played it white side against Erigaisi the other day, so that's pretty much a 2700+ level game
btw he won
But it was also a 3+0 Blitz Game,Not a classical game
@@luxembourgvideoproductions in rapid he won a game in the same line against Caruana in April last year, and against MVL more recently, i think it was december
in classic it's played less, but i don't think it's unsound, it's objectively just a three-result equal game and white nowadays usually plays it safer
12 out of 10 as always ❤
As black I always play d6 but directly following with e6 is not the best option. This lecture is more elaborated than other ones on smith-morra, but the basic issue is still the same : the best moves for black are never taken into consideration, so it gives the impression that whatever black plays, white will always get an attack or a better game. It's definitely a reasonable system for white at lower level but once you will progress in elo you will need to use another system to continue to improve your chess skills. I'm telling this as a chess teacher myself
Considering Esserman had gotten wins against super GMs with it and Hikaru played it against Fabi and won I'd say it's good for 99.9% of chess players lol.
Obviously if Black plays like Stockfish it's not winning but black wont
The only problem is that Black declines
it very often with : 1.e4 c5 2.d4 cxd4 3.c3 Nf6 or 3. ... d5 and we have to play an Alapin var.
True, but those positions are completely fine for White.
If you are good whit it then it is a working tactic but if you are no so good you better keep trying until u get better
Thank you!!
hikaru played against fabi in the chessable masters
Usually in old games the pawns are face to face across the 4th line alternately while the other pawns are aligned on the third level to defend the fourth level pawns.the other pieces come out from behind. The horses come out first if possible then the bishops. The Rooks come out in a zip zag fashion.
As black i simply converting it to alapine defence with 3.... d5 .
Yes, and do 99% of the players play as good as Hikaru ? It's not because Novad Djokovic is a wonderful tennis player that it's good for everybody to mimic everything he is doing
If you like attacking you will like to see GM Bellón play. Saludos desde España
4 all that the Smith Morra produces beautiful positions, your face puts the Smith Morra in the shade.
any chess vid a hour should really have time stamps
@29:05 , where did that board setup come from?
I just want to be a pumpkin and rot on c8
Thought it was similar to that danish gambit but nope
Yup, very different.
@@SahnigReingeloetet why do you say that? I play both and find they have similar themes. But I’m a patzer so would appreciate being educated.
@@seanmccloskey3816 in the Morra White‘s advantage lies primarily in positional compensation (pressure on the d pawn, pressure on Black‘s Queen) whereas in the Danish White tries to primarily attain an opening edge through rapid piece development and a swift attack with a messy and complicated position. In the Morra the goal is to either win an exchange for a pawn or the pawn with with a superior position. Funnily enough, most Morra games end with one side simply being a pawn up.
I've checkmated with a pawn at least once and I'm not a chess master lol
I've probably checkmated with a pawn more than with a knight or a bishop. For me it isn't that rare, but I'm a beginner, so checkmates in general are more common I guess than at her level
Love you Anna
When are other theory videos coming out on yt?
what if after black take d4 and white play c3 black play queen to a6 to pin the pawn
Qa5? b4 Qd8 cxd4 +=
Bd2 is far better and practically forces Black to accept the gambit with the moves Bd2 and Qa5 inserted, i.e. the advantage easily goes to White.
amazing😁😄
9:16
I don't need all those gambits. I win anyways.
Ok Magnus
Woooo
My GM dad. It sounds like children boasting on the yard. My dad can beat your dad (in chess). No no no, because my dad is IM! But my dad is GM! :)
Sir this is a Walmart
Yea...something about her is tiring to watch!(you may have a point about the bragging too!...she had very dark hair a year ago in her other videos also...now blond...oohkay!...alrighty then...maybe it's for da "special effect"...could be ye know?🤷♂️
@@Christiaan1958 I didn't mean it in a way that she is annoying. I quite like her. It just reminded me that times in elementary school, that is all.

Yikes hard to watch
Blah blah blah......get to the point!
She doesn't have one bro!
Hi Anna first comment
I am only here because I am creep. I only subscribed because I am creep. I don't care what she has to say about Chess. I don't love chess.
At least you owned it
@@jonsno3688 Alot of times I just speak my mind. But I hope she doesn't feel disrespected about what I said. And appreciate what I did; subscribe to her channell and took the time to watch her video(s). Even though it really adds little to my Chess understanding. I hope she feels happy that her beauty which magnetized me to this channell is a good asset for her. She however has a wacky way that she is laughing; I don't know if I can bear it.
