I've been trying to do this for some time. Watching how you handled the photo in Inkscape is an amazing help. Tomorrow I'm zapping into a few square yards of foam. Organization beckons.
WOW! I see everyone saying we CAN'T cut foam on GF - you did it amazingly! So these are just the click together floor tiles? Could I ask your print settings too.... you just made my day.
Great guide! Is that just the interlocking foam floor tiles from the big box store? Also I think when I do this I'll add some cutouts for fingers to go, for easier removal - some of those look a little snug.
Fantastic videos on the glowforge, I am not sure I understand how the Foam moved, you said it was bumped by the laser or the moved on its own, can you explain that for me. ? Also I would like to make foam inserts 10.5 x 10.5 inches can this machine do that size nicely. ? Is your code still good for purchase ? ok thank you so much for the videos.
Thanks! It moved because the foam was curled up in the back so was higher than 1/2”. There is a fan attached to the laser head to blow away smoke, the fan caught the edge that was sticking up. After that if a piece was warped I just 2 sided taped it down. The other thing I started doing is once I got my outlines in Inkscape I used the offset tool to give the tools a little more room. Code should still be good for $500 off a pro, 250 off a plus or 100 off a basic.
Fantastic, look I will be getting the Plus, Can I still use it if I am using the payment system they offer, ? Also why do so many people use the Inkscape and not say Photoshop ? Thank you Tom.
Great idea! Although, I'm really surprised such an expensive machine bumped the stock, didn't see that it did so, and kept going. I thought the Glowforge was intelligent and had internal monitoring cameras.

You take this like.
Take it, and never let go!
Amazing.

Yes they are the floor tiles. Send me an email and I’ll see if I can find the settings. Tom@imagineform.com
Damn. Here I am over here stuck in 1986 with a blowtorch and exacto knife 😂
So that stuff is Laser safe?, if so that's awesome and cheap at habor freight.
This is awesome! What settings did you use to cut?

+Patrick O'Brien yup, those are the tiles. Yes some are a little snug, finger holes would be good.
Yoga or camping mats work too. Great if you have a box larger than 26”
What is your foam material?

Not sure on the payment... I think they use Inkscape because it’s free:-)
An alternate colour drawer liner shows missing tools easier too
Love that idea!!!

I get the feeling the anti collision software isn’t implemented yet. But it was my fault, the material was warped up in the back

This is supposed to be easy. Not that simple for a newby.
