Cartoon Network Is Only Rebooting Old Shows... They're Not Greenlighting Any Brand New Show Ideas

- Cartoon Network announced a lot of new shows recently but the majority of them are revivals of pre-existing properties. Where is all the new ideas?
Like most companies, they're afraid of taking risks and rather bring back current established shows.
And still they failed miserably
exactly because a built in audience means built in money for merchandise
No wonder why indie animation is so popular.
Fingers crossed that they FINALLY give us that Galactic Kids Next Door series that Mr. Warburton wants to make.
Hopefully. I want to be like movie length.

Relying on the past and nostalgia isn't going to get you anywhere.
While Cartoon Network definitely does need to make new original shows but I feel that the problem is that no one seems to care about them.
I haven’t seen many people talking or caring about shows like Victor and Valentino, Tig n’ Seek, The Fungies!, Eillot on Earth, and Prince Ivandoe. Maybe some of these issues are CN’s fault but if people really want to support new original content then they should try to support these shows and spreading the word out.
I definitely agreed people should think about helping cartoon network make new shows and returning shows that they all deserved to be renewed. But I'm very sick and tired of having the Elephant in the room, and I mean David Zaslav he only cares about money, greed, and power. They really having to make some changes in the Cartoon network headquarters office.
Because CN didn’t advertise them properly. Heck, some of them didn’t even last for an entire year. So ofc they were doomed to fail. There is nothing wrong with new ideas (infinity train is a prime example) this is all due to CN’s incompetence
The reason why the shows you just listed are not as popular is because Cartoon Network did not really give them a fair chance. It's almost like a Harvey Beaks or Ollie's Pack situation on Nickelodeon. Cartoon Network never gave them time to gain an audience, but WBD is more of the fault here. That HBO Max 2022 purge was the most ridiculous thing you could have ever imagined. I loved Victor and Valentino, Mao Mao and even shows like today with Prince Ivandoe. Look at other modern shows like Craig of the Creek, Infinity Train and more. They have been successful and that's bc CN gave them a fair chance.
It's also because those shows you mentioned are all terrible and don't push the envelope in terms of something new and interesting. Art style, humor, and everything else is all the same stuff they've been pushing for years with nothing truly new.

I guess the upcoming Jellystone 2-Part Episodes were meant to be their own seperate thing.
Every time CN gets a new idea, Adult Swim has to snatch it from them.

Cartoon Network are now following the footsteps of Nick and Disney. Plus they did hint a new adult Ben 10 project and OG PPG are coming back as well, even though they were previous properties.
They need a new block for the Cartoon Cartoon era
How would that help get new ideas and shows onto the channel?

Another thing too is if CN keep relying on shows like Adventure Time and Gumball to make money, those shows are just going to get stale quickly. Think about it, the shows are over a decade old, they’re constantly greenliting projects left to right for them, the creators are bound to get tired of those series and would want to work on something else. Sure, CN could hire new writers but in that case , you’re just making PPG 2016 again. Give the new writers a chance to shine and give your current writers a chance to expand. We wouldn’t have gotten Foster’s if Craig Mccracken was stuck with PPG and we wouldn’t have gotten Amphibia or Owl House if Matt and Dana we’re stuck on Gravity Falls
To be fair, we really need an actual conclusion to gumball. The inquisition cannot be the ending. It just makes zero sense.
Adventure Time never gets stale so then relying on Adventure Time is fine because Adventure Time never dropped in quality.
@@Cubeytheawesome Gumball I do agree needed something after the finale because of the cliffhanger but is an entire new season really needed for that? If it’s going to be a full season then that’s probably 30 or more episodes. WB Discovery should’ve just let the movie be the finale and let the show rest instead of scrapping it
When it comes to Hollywood, they love to reboot old properties for nostalgia purpose instead of being creative for new ideas. Even though it’s great that Adventure time is getting a movie and regular show is returning along side gumball S7, it still sucks that we don’t have much new originals since Invincible fight girl is going to adult swim and Iyanu might come to Cartoon Network if they keep it there.
This is why indie shows,shorts,games, etc, are getting more popular. They allow you to be more creative, and most of them are great, for example, lackadaisy, helluva boss, and murder drones.

New ideas are financial risks
It depends on how much money they're talking about - personally, I don't watch anything on that channel - except for the Powerpuff girls and a couple of others, there really isn't that much to peak my interest
All the other programs I noticed seem to be made for people who want to live on the "dark side" - too gloomy and negative - for me, anyway
I was watching your clip and saw some of the shows you were talking about - as I said, aside from those shows, there wasn't that much to entice me to stay with them/you
On the other hand, after seeing the shows I might like, over and over, it can get monotonous
I may be old-fashioned, but I grew up on the cartoons from, not only the 60's, but even some from between the 1930's to the 1950's they were fresh, new, different, and have some positive imagination

If I was talented and resourceful enough to write and pitch my show idea, I definitely wouldn't pitch it to Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon.
Iyanu: Child of Wonder is only upcoming original idea for Cartoon Network in 2025.
David Zaslav only cares about Adult Swim, not Cartoon Network.

I know I will probably be wrong, but i think CN are trying to recover from the two empty years and get back on track. Maybe if these series become profitable we could see more content for CN and some of it could be original, the chances are low but hope is the only thing we have left. ❤

I'm coming with an open mind whatever is coming up next, but I can see the frustration and disappointment for lack of original ideas. I rather prefer new properties. As long as they are doing SOMETHING with Regular Show I'm okay with it. I'm more frustrated since they can't afford to BECAUSE of the consequence of WBD's buffoonery.
Honestly, neither do Nick or Disney Channel. Cable networks are struggling to get people’s (mostly kids’) attention and are using franchises to stay alive.
While I agree that there are some Cartoon Network shows that still need reboots, and by that I mean given proper endings like Transformers Animated and Sym-Bionic Titan to name a few, I also agree that new properties should not be neglected for the sake of profits from the old properties.
I hoping they could bring Samurai Jack for another season. They need to fix that last one. Because, it's really writing for a finale.

I guess that Cartoon Network is rebooting old cartoon shows For new audience, after they had near the original franchise, it was a hit and they don't want to have a box office disappointment or anything going box-office under perform of a new ideas

That’s not exactly true. I’m no Disney expert but Pixar has had 5 original projects 1 spinoff and 1 sequel. Their next movie, Elio is original IP and the movie that will follow Elio will be an original IP too, and then another sequel which is Toy Story 5. So technically they’ll have 7 original movies and 3 based on preexisting properties so far.

It makes you wonder, what ever happened to that new Cartoon Cartoons block that Cartoon Network announced a couple of years back, where it was going to be a block of animated pilots that could’ve potentially been new cartoon shows. Tbh I really wouldn’t be surprised if that block got cancelled by Warner Bros Discovery, given their track record. But in all fairness this is something that not just Cartoon Network, but every company should realise that every single popular IP was once viewed as original and seen as it’s own thing. Overall I think Cartoon Network really need to start making original ideas for animated shows, not just reboots like they really need to do something like What A Cartoon, Cartoon Cartoon Fridays and The Cartoonstitute again.

At this point they really need to get some pilots going. If they have to shell some cash to get some created, or at the very least consider airing some pilots that were self funded. perhaps meet in the middle and bring back what a cartoon?
I don't mind it that much.
I mean there are still upcoming shows that were announced long ago that are not based off of preexisting properties. Invincible Fight Girl, Iyanu: Child of Wonder, Battu, Gross Girls and a few others with even some new original preschool shows like Hop. But I definitely can see where you are going here. It is cool how these pre-existing properties are evolving and becoming bigger franchises than they already are, but it is not the best for new creators. Like seriously, they already delayed Iyanu two times just like Unicorn Warriors Eternal and Cartoon Network is just having a questioning future ahead while adult swim may have more shows and airtime, but not enough ideas for a new generation.

They have THREE new shows that are aren't cancelled so far, and the next one coming, Iyanu: Child of Wonder, was delayed to 2025! Ugh, this is getting on my nerves, man! They don't know what they're doing! And they're mostly doing just reboots of their older shows, and that's fine, but throw in some new originals as well, why don't ya! Come on, now! This is getting ridiculous, y'all! They need to focus also on original ideas, like what Nick and Disney Channel are doing! This is bad, bro! I don't CN to fall behind, guys! 'Cause this channel is my childhood! And I don't want to see it go or change to be something else instead to the point where it's unrecognizable! Or have anything bad happen to it! I agree 💯 on this DC, there r ppl out there who have dreams of making there own animations/comics and getting it on networks like CN,and Nick(if they care),creating their own projects, action,adventure, comedy, whichever, if CN is getting there acts together n want to improve, then they should add both old and new projects like they did bf, cus, well i said this before, every old cartoons use to be new in a life time, so itll be the same when new projects become old classics someday,I have nothing against some reboots if they're done right, but too much is too much :/
CN was my life growing up, even Nickelodeon and toon Disney/Jetex, I still have that dream of becoming an animator, and comics writing, drawing was and still my passion, I wanna see my characters in action and on the big screen on the CN renaissance, but idk anymore, maybe an indie project, since there popular nowadays along with animated movies,
