Great Video Charlie ,layout will be very interesting when the boards are joined, you are right about having separate channels for your video editing tutorial ,saves things getting muddled up,you take care when away working ,and we will still be here when you return, all the best John
Hi Charlie. Good to see you today. Thanks for visiting us over at the Cale Rail/Gartell Light Railway Exhibition. Catch up soon & keep up the good work

Hi Laurie, I’m so pleased that you enjoy my channel and I’ve subbed you back. I do like your style with the fast cuts but these videos take such a time to edit.
@@ChadwickModelRailway Thanks Charlie. I tend to make these quite fast. Ironically I'd probably find the type you do more intensive for me. Keep up the good work. Between us all we are helping add interest to the hobby, Regards, Laurie.
Hi Charlie, very nice video just got myself into model railways and slowly getting going but its time consuming when working and sleeping but have other hobbies too. Will look forward to watching more of your videos. Well done.
I think you should just have one Chanel as most of Us can find you, also your subscriber support would really increase as a single source. Plus people will want to watch what they find necessary to their interest. Thank you for all of your hard work and effort to help to us new to the hobby. Albert
We'll be here when you get back, Charlie! I don't really have any ideas about matching up the boards, I'm afraid. The human brain is amazing, I've also had solutions to a problem just pop into my head in the middle of the night. Good luck with your project!
Thanks Charlie, always enjoy your Videos, I fancy you are a busy Lad, hope all goes well with the Drones. I suppose it would make sense to have the two Channels wouldn't it.
Once again another great video and I'm really looking forward to what you do next. Don't be causing trouble at airports with your drone work. Best wishes, Alex.
Decisions, decisions! Story of my stages of building. Every time I think I have a final plan, the brain jumps it at 3AM or a friend says, "hey, what about this...?" Great video as always. Looking forward to the joining.
Another enjoyable video Charlie. I really like the idea of showing us the filming side of model railway videos. Honestly don’t mind where you upload it to, I’m sure it will be good viewing
A suggestion for you Charlie... If there will be a tunnel after the viaduct which will go into your fiddleyard at the back of Chadwick TMD, use some curved points as soon as they disappear into the tunnel and have the fiddleyard tracks start to fan out earlier. This will enable you to have longer length trains. I think it's better to keep all the model railway stuff in the same place. You can create playlists so your audience can view the Chadwick layout constructional videos, and another playlist for your technical ones, and just drop a reference in the dialogue with a link appearing in the corner to guide people there. Cheers Laura
Hi Laura, I will put the videos on here but in a different playlist. Regarding curved points, they can be temperamental if they are facing. Trailing points are more reliable but I have to minimise the risk of derailments within the hillside.
I enjoy your casual narrative Charlie. I just looked at your second channel and would suggest that a video editting tutorial may well have a place on both channels. My own preference is to link video editting to the model railway interest. Cheers Patrick
Great video Charlie. I look forward to seeing how you marry up the baseboards, and the wiring therein. My only suggestion towards the two level fiddle yard would be, if it's possible without destroying what you have, a gentle slope down to one and gentle rise to the other so that neither is actually level with the scenic side. It could be in imperial or metric....whichever you choose! ;-) Cheers
It's the endearing messages during the videos that keep us glued "No that's a right hand point you plonker". I can understand why you would want to amend Chadwick TMD rather than strip it back and we can wait for a few weeks for another most entertaining video. Frank.
Another great video, Charlie. Your efforts with these model railway videos are a particular favourite of mine on youtube as I am still planning my OO scale layout to be constructed this Spring (has to be Spring-time as most of the baseboard construction will be dome out of doors, so weather is a factor!) For what it is worth, a separate channel for your production videos is a good idea; keep up the great work and please keep the videos rolling!
I agree, you should have a separate channel for videos. You cannot beat experience gained by your own mistakes and how to overcome them. I very much appreciate your honesty in their production because you show what works for you. I remember in my teens making a tunnel over 3 feet long, which I made using plaster of paris. It only had two faults. It was very heavy moving it to its position and if anything came off the track inside it, I had difficulty removing it. Because I have so many engines going back to Hornby Dublo, Triang Hornby and Wrenn going up to current Hornby and Bachmann, I don't think I will be building a DCC layout. I will stick to what I know, having found out that isolating points means no power and short circuiting in the 1960s. Thank you for your channel.
Great Charlie, good idea with the fiddle yard, just remember with elevation = space, you might lose a bit of storage space length wise, to gain the elevation needed one idea is to drop Chadwick TMD a bit lower so you drop say the down main and climb the up up main so you get the height change you need by changing elevation on both roads, but what ever you do I’m sure you’ll figure it out in the end
I agree Charlie that was a lot of work to just rip it apart and scrap it , will be interesting to see how you incorporate it into the new design. The double level staging yard will be a fun project to watch you build . Cheers. Jim
Charlie, I so enjoy your vids. What an incredible amount of wire work you've done. It's very impressive!! Looking forward to seeing them come together. ..still laughing at the backdrop ending 😂
Have really enjoyed your videos and after years of not participating I am seriously thinking of getting back into the hobby. As an aside the quality of content and presentation is remarkable; makes the so called professionals on TV and other media look like the poor self centred nepotistic amateurs so many of them are.
Great update Charlie.... and what a great space you have... regards Fred .... ps I was waiting for the table to collapse and you throw the Viaduct out the window...lol keep up your great modelling Charlie
Nice work Charlie! As you asked, my personal preference would be to see your forthcoming model railway video techniques posted on Chadwick, but as I subscribe to both it's no great difference to me.
I completely understand you not willing to scrap all that previous work. I remember watching your first videos and that board was a work of art. A well oiled machine. I've went and subbed your other channel. Looking forward to going through it. Keep up the great work (and production values) P.S I also love that you keep all your mistakes in. hehe. Don't change that! :D
Subbed ages ago Charlie loved your vid again and the humour as always, waiting for you to connect your layouts is like waiting for the french to stick there hands through a hole in the channel again lol
Looking forward to your solutions of the board joining, agree to continue using the Chadwick TMD. The separate channel for the production of video’s is not an issue for myself, cheers Paul
I am certain you’ll figure it out. It is really just a matter of digging in a getting it done. Nice workmanship on the electrical. Mine are a shambles, but work quite well. Rob
Hi Charlie, it all looking very much like a classroom style environment with the Whiteboard with your explanations but i love it, it helps us understand the end result of your plans to do, in your head! Channels, wouldn’t one channel bring in more viewers than having two side by side, as some may skip the one in favour of the main, although i would be interested in both personally, and would still watch them whether one one channel or two...!?! as always a great YT blog 👍Thumbs up👍
Yes Charlie I would like you to do your videos on the same channel ! keep up the brilliant work ! ps i my self could not see anything wrong with your back scene ! but your honesty with you mistakes is refreshing rather than hiding them ! I myself have loft converted to 28ft by 13ft by 3 ft wide boards in a circle on the outer edge of the loft and hoping to put videos on youtube as i go along ! so videoing and editing videos would be great ! regards George
End of the day Charlie its up to you, personally I would keep it on the same channel and just make a Behind The Scenes series something like that. Great video as always
Love the videos and your an artist with your wiring. I guess it's been mentioned., The incline your Going to need will be quite long and on curves especially, the incline will need to be relax a bit if not nearly level. I have two inclines myself and both with curves only though trail and error I got mine where 90% of locos are happy on them. Keep up the good work .
Charlie, So you've got a chicken and egg situation with old boards and new boards. The higher fiddle siding can go down the centre of the yard or at the front of the baseboard. The hardest track to look after is the one on the " low- level" hard up against the riser's for the upper level. But I have full confidence in you to sort it. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Hi Charlie ,, i looked at this video as just a random popup on UA-cam and when i was watching it I was scratching my head goin chadwick is more complex than this and there's heck of a lot more done as in 2 helixes and the big fiddle yard underneath it all and then looked at the release date haha 4 yeers ago hahah. Time for bed me thinks ,, haha. Cheers from John in Australia
Excellent well thought out video and some ambitious plans to boot. I don’t have a preference concerning your proposed ‘other’ channel, whatever is easiest for you, I’ll subscribe anyway. Had to laugh when you mentioned your sleepless night, even though it is just a hobby, model railways really do get into your blood. Thanks.
Looking forward to seeing it progress and the how to do the videos would not be out of place as they are railway related and I'm sure people would like to make decent videos of their layouts.
Thanks for another video. As regards another "how to" channel I think just choose what is easier for you. You could include links to the new channel from Chadwick in the area before the comments on Chadwick. As regards the baseboard height differences I would suggest putting adjustable feet onto the cut down legs of the old TMD board (if you haven't already done so!) to simplify connecting the two they do make true alignment so easy and are not expensive. Look forward to seeing what decisions you make. :-) Richard Cocksey's idea sounds interesting & could well be a good solution to minimise the incline for the twin height fiddle yard.
Many thanks for your thoughts Pat. Regarding the baseboard height, yes I do have adjustable feet but I do my utmost to get it right and use thin balsa to pack it if I get it wrong.
Very interesting and informative as usual Charlie, thank you! I think a separate channel would work well but it's whatever you prefer. Looking forward to the next episode.
Great video Charlie, will be interesting to see the different parts working together as one big layout. Enjoyed all the videos you put up, especially about the viaduct, which looks great :) Your production of the videos looks great, love it when you incorporate reference shots taken with your drone. I'd definitely be interested to know about how you produce the videos, don't think it would be to muddled on this channel though, maybe put them together in a playlist to help distinguish them? Anyway good job. Chris
Great video as always. Good idea to have the two channels separate - one for the railway and the other as a video "how to". I'll be subscribing to your other channel as my videos are shall we say "poor". That said the subscriber count is still going up. Anyway Charlie keep the videos coming as they are a real pleasure to watch. Euan
Hi Charlie have watched your excellent channel since is began. I am about to start building my own layout this year and would find it useful to know more about creating good content for UA-cam as I would like to document my journey, Neil
For configuring track work I use software called any rail which is excellent . Not only can you use this to plan your layout on paper you can also export it to a program called train player where you can run trains with your chosen stock on your latest track plan.
Sounds like a lot of change is coming. The track work plan is sound and I recon it will work. I did shudder on aspect of the fiddle yard being on different levels. Looking forward to see it develop tho. In regards to your other channel, I’d subscribe to it if it’s a seperate channel, otherwise I’d be happy to see them in this channel. Keep up your great work, Clint
Hi, Personally I would prefer 2 separate channels, I would watch both but it simply makes it easier to pick and choose what I want to watch next, (and when to watch it). And as you say, it might make it easier to those who only want to watch one kind of channel over another.
Great idea showing how to do videos! I think having 2 separate channels would be the best choice and would definitely subscribe to a second channel if that is what you decide. ~ linda
Another superb video Charlie 😄 Couldn’t agree more leave Chadwick TMD alone as you’ll be forever altering things 🙄 Shame you didn’t have twin tracks from the front of Chadwick TMD.....🙈 But it’ll make interesting train movements!! Thanks again for a great update Stevie 😁
What if the TMD boards were turned around, the fiddle yard then comes to the operating side, so you can get at it, then there would be space off the viaduct for a countryside run before point work to divert the tracks, that would give space for a gradient.
Hi Charlie, You did a video showing a wiring board that hung down on hinges I think. I am thinking of a similar wiring service board that will hang by hinges from my front benchwork 1x3 support , which is 6 inches recessed. Then swing it up so that it extends into the room by about 24 inches. You then can stand here and work on the board and mount your electrics. Then swing it back under and up, flat to the deck, and anchor it there.Wiring would enter onto this board right at the point of the hinges so as the board swings, the wiring will just simply slilghtly rotate with it. Or put it all into a harness with enough service loop to make the swing. I do not fancy crawling under the deck and working over my head with a light. What are your thoughts. Also thought to mount this about in the middle of the layout so that the DCC is mid point between the ends of the buss lines to cut down on loss. I have an old pc power supply that will also mount here to distribute 3.5, 12, 5, -12 around for scenic lighting and tortoise machines. I want the service board to swing up against the deck so I can still crawl under it to the back of the deck if required. Bob
Hi Bob, Yes my main DCC components are mounted on hinged boards so if I need to change them, it will be straight forward. Plan this arrangement early and it’s straight forward. I did make sure that I had sufficient cable length too. Good luck with your layout.
hi charlie ,great video as usual ,loved the backscene episode , your videos are always well presentd ,well lit and well shot ,myself i m struggling to film decent running videos of my layout and was wondering if you could do a video explaining the best way to light /film and any other tips you could could give us budding spielbergs ,cheers ,michael
I’ve just about stopped laughing at the last video, although the clip you inserted started me off again! 😂 Looking forward to seeing how you double stack the fiddle yard, that’s an idea that hadn’t even crossed my little brain, but it’s brilliant, non the less. I assume all of the wiring under the TMD is to allow computer control? There’s a lot of work there, so not really surprised you want to keep it. Subbed to the other channel, hadn’t realised you were into film and photo so hoping to get some good tips there for my own aspiring cinematography. 👍
Hi Charlie, Enjoyed all you video's most enjoyable back scene as I am doing mine over the next two weeks. Not sure how you envisage two levels for your fiddle yard as I have two level layout and needed 16 feet length for my ramp. All the best KB
Great video look forward to the progression and also the follow on video for the backscene. Would prefer a second channel Charlie, for the video production and will definitely subscribe to that one. Thanks
Charlie a question if i may relating to your video track laying Pin or Glue. Six months on do you have a preference? I have tried both in my old layout pins and copydex, when it comes to lifting and claning the track for possible re use i mananged to save little, as liftinfting pinned track is not easy, and lifting glued track is easy, but hard to tack cork off track. Any thoughts and suggestions please sir? best regards Paul at Sandling Junction
Hi Paul, I now use Copydex and once ballasted it will never lift. If you need to reposition the track prior to ballasting if lifts easily without destroying the cork.
Hi Charlie, This channel is always really good to watch, just the way you present yourself on video is a joy to watch, you explain a lot of issues really well. I've been watching your UA-cam videos for some time, I'm new to this side of model railway I'm trying to create a country side layout there is parts I know I want to do and the other side I don't. The layout is 18ft x 15ft x 18ft x 15ft by 2ft wide this is around the loft. what is your other UA-cam channel. Many thanks Brian
Another great video Charlie 👍 Really enjoying watching your journey. You mentioned your additional channel about producing model railway videos (but I couldn't see a link to it on this one). I'd be very interested in watching those too, and from a content perspective it makes sense to split them off from this channel, I just wonder if that would adversely affect your UA-cam ratings (if such things are important to you)? By keeping everything together on this channel your number of watched videos could increase, and you'd probably pick up some new subscribers. If you clearly flag up the model railway video production videos, people could just choose not to watch them. Just a thought... Keep up the excellent work 😀👍
Charlie: What was your experience with the Digitrax SE8c Signal Decoder board and what type of signals did you install? I am working on some signals for my Norfolk Southern shelf layout. I am using JMRI 4.14 for control. Cheers.
This video is the best video i have ever seen. Especially the intro. I just love your channel so much and want mine to become just like yours. (So i am definitely going to subscribe to your other channel.) Thanks for making me laugh in this video's intro and the ending of the last one. : )
Hi Charlie, I watch your videos and tutorials with interest. I’ve been given my families old railway layout which has been packed away for close on 40 years and considering which would be the best way to awaken some sleeping beauties? I know there are at least 4 princess class, 4 GWR tanks and countless others any advice on best ways to go. I’ve bought rolling road sets to run them on, cleaning brushes etc. Any advice greatly received . Thanks Andrew :))
Hi Andrew, let’s take baby steps first, They are obviously DC locos. So a little TLC, a little oil and with care they should run reasonably well. Just be gentle and see how it goes.
Chadwick Model Railway Thanks for the advice, will let you know how the first one goes. I was thinking a little time sitting on the radiator to loosen up the old oil and dirt before a good clean. Then maybe a little very low speed rolling road run. Thanks Andrew
Hi Charlie, May I pick your brains ? I am planning to build a layout in my garage and was wondering what would be best to use for a base board , plywood , MDF , Sundlea …. and would they need to be treated as there will be variations in temperature. Cheers Kevin
Another superb video charlie. I will have a look at your other channel as I would like to have a go sometime at putting some videos up on UA-cam. However, being a bit of a Technophobe I must admit it scares the crap out of me! Have you considered putting in a small Helix to get up to the second level of the fiddle yard?.... Cheers Les.
'Ello Charlie, love your videos. You could leave all the videos on this channel and just add a header like "Layout series episode "xx" - Merging Sides" and "Production series....". Just a suggestion. One very good rule I was taught early on is the old "KISS" (Keep it simple, st*pid). I have found in the designing my own layout that trying to get tracks to change levels requires lots of space, a point made in another comment as well. Another idea to consider, is although you have lots of time and effort out into the old Chadwich layout, how much of it is going to be used properly in the new layout? Will the new layout be made with the same features and support the old? For me, I would take what you learned from the old TMD and start fresh, that way you will be able keep it all uniform and the features built in as you go and not as a after addon. But at the end of the day, these are only my thoughts. Either way, I will continue to watch with great interest! Cheers! Alex
I am very interested in video editing. I was good at it in “the old days” when we had video recorders and could make tapes to watch later. Now a days though digital processing is a dark art and, how does one create a DVD of these videos for posterity?!
I’m afraid DVDs are now dying and soon it will be impossible to buy DVD burners. Flash drives are taking over the world! I will cover video editing in the future.
All in one rather than the two channels suits the likes of me that are not a subscriber but like having your channel in the recommendations. I know subscribers matter but I thought I might as well speak up as a regular non-subscriber and saying why I am a 'channel lurker' rather than a devoted fan.
@@ChadwickModelRailway Hi Charlie, I was curious, if you had left them in you could have had a triangle to wire which would have made another good video.
After 64 years of modelling I may be the only one who didn't laugh at your backscene problem. As for joining TMD to Parkway it looks as though you may be creating a very wide board with limited access. I would move TMD to a start point at the edge of the cupboard and fill in the remaining space from the viaduct section. ( superb viaduct ) Geoff. W.
Great Video Charlie ,layout will be very interesting when the boards are joined, you are right about having separate channels for your video editing tutorial ,saves things getting muddled up,you take care when away working ,and we will still be here when you return, all the best John

I've went and subbed your other channel. Looking forward to going through it. Keep up the great work (and production values) P.S I also love that you keep all your mistakes in. hehe. Don't change that! :D
Thanks for your opinion and long term loyalty. Regards Charlie
Another great video Charlie, always very informative, cant wait for the next one, Cheers
Thanks James.
Subbed ages ago Charlie loved your vid again and the humour as always, waiting for you to connect your layouts is like waiting for the french to stick there hands through a hole in the channel again lol
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed the videos FCMR.
Thanks again Charlie for an another interesting video!! Cheers Onno.
I’m so pleased that you are still with me Onno.
These videos are educational, interesting and professionally laid out.. awesome stuff
Thanks mate, you’re too kind.
Looking forward to your solutions of the board joining, agree to continue using the Chadwick TMD.
The separate channel for the production of video’s is not an issue for myself, cheers Paul
Hi Paul,
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it and good luck with your layout.
I am certain you’ll figure it out. It is really just a matter of digging in a getting it done. Nice workmanship on the electrical. Mine are a shambles, but work quite well. Rob
Hi Rob, I’m sure that you’re wiring isn’t that bad. Good luck with your layout, regards Charlie
Hi Charlie, it all looking very much like a classroom style environment with the Whiteboard with your explanations but i love it, it helps us understand the end result of your plans to do, in your head! Channels, wouldn’t one channel bring in more viewers than having two side by side, as some may skip the one in favour of the main, although i would be interested in both personally, and would still watch them whether one one channel or two...!?! as always a great YT blog 👍Thumbs up👍
Hi Jamie, I’m pretty sure that you have hit the nail on the head.
Thanks for your loyalty.
Thanks George, the jury is still out as to the channel options.
That’s certainly a decent sized layout you have.
End of the day Charlie its up to you, personally I would keep it on the same channel and just make a Behind The Scenes series something like that.
Great video as always
I think that you’re right. Thanks mate
Will be very interested to see how it all comes together.
Thanks mate.
Excellent work brotha! It is gonna look great! - Joey
Thanks Joey
Another great video thanks for making them🙂🙂🙂🙂
.... and thank you for watching.
Many thanks for your thoughts CCJ. I’m still scratching my head.
Hello excellent video as always very enjoyable.
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it.
Amazing work under that board 👍understand completely !
Cheers.....Jaco
Thanks Jaco.
Good video Charlie, I'm looking forward to the video channel, probably better as a different channel.
Thanks Kieth, I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it.
Thanks Chris, your opinion is valued and I’m still unsure on a final outcome.
Great channel charlie. Very helpful and informative, think it's a worth while idea about the other channel. Subscribed!
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it Carl.
Only 130 videos to go then John.
Regards Charlie
Excellent well thought out video and some ambitious plans to boot. I don’t have a preference concerning your proposed ‘other’ channel, whatever is easiest for you, I’ll subscribe anyway. Had to laugh when you mentioned your sleepless night, even though it is just a hobby, model railways really do get into your blood. Thanks.
Thanks for your views John.
Loosing sleep is ridiculous.
Nice work, Charlie!
Thanks mate.
Wow! An amazing amount of wiring for a seemingly small layout, ( 4x8 ). I am a new sub. I am looking forward to your progress.
Thanks Norman, it’s great to have you onboard.
Looking forward to seeing it progress and the how to do the videos would not be out of place as they are railway related and I'm sure people would like to make decent videos of their layouts.
Thanks Kevin, I think that you’re right.
Great idea’s Charlie, looking forward to seeing this grow...regards, Chris
Thanks Chris.
Richard Cocksey's idea sounds interesting & could well be a good solution to minimise the incline for the twin height fiddle yard.
Many thanks for your thoughts Pat.
Regarding the baseboard height, yes I do have adjustable feet but I do my utmost to get it right and use thin balsa to pack it if I get it wrong.
Love your work Charlie
Thanks RB
Very interesting and informative as usual Charlie, thank you! I think a separate channel would work well but it's whatever you prefer. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks Roy, I’m so pleased that you enjoyed the videos.
Great video Charlie, will be interesting to see the different parts working together as one big layout. Enjoyed all the videos you put up, especially about the viaduct, which looks great :)
Your production of the videos looks great, love it when you incorporate reference shots taken with your drone. I'd definitely be interested to know about how you produce the videos, don't think it would be to muddled on this channel though, maybe put them together in a playlist to help distinguish them? Anyway good job.
Chris
I think that you’re right Chris. Just separate them on playlists.
Euan
I’m so pleased that you enjoy them Eian and hopefully we can improve yours.
Hi Charlie have watched your excellent channel since is began. I am about to start building my own layout this year and would find it useful to know more about creating good content for UA-cam as I would like to document my journey, Neil
Hi Neil, stay in touch, I will cover better YT content.
For configuring track work I use software called any rail which is excellent .
Not only can you use this to plan your layout on paper you can also export it to a program called train player where you can run trains with your chosen stock on your latest track plan.
Thanks RQ, I shall look into.
Hi Clint, I’m also concerned about the fiddle yard. I’m so pleased that you’re looking forward to the videos too.
Hi,
Personally I would prefer 2 separate channels, I would watch both but it simply makes it easier to pick and choose what I want to watch next, (and when to watch it).
And as you say, it might make it easier to those who only want to watch one kind of channel over another.
Thanks very much for your view.
The jury is still out.
Great idea showing how to do videos! I think having 2 separate channels would be the best choice and would definitely subscribe to a second channel if that is what you decide. ~ linda
It’s great to have you onboard.
Thanks Stevie, it’s comments such as yours that make it worthwhile.
What if the TMD boards were turned around, the fiddle yard then comes to the operating side, so you can get at it, then there would be space off the viaduct for a countryside run before point work to divert the tracks, that would give space for a gradient.
Your right Stephen but then the wiring would be reversed and cause complications joining up the electronics.
Bob
Hi Bob,
Yes my main DCC components are mounted on hinged boards so if I need to change them, it will be straight forward.
Mick, rest assured that I’m on the case.
I’ve just about stopped laughing at the last video, although the clip you inserted started me off again! 😂
Looking forward to seeing how you double stack the fiddle yard, that’s an idea that hadn’t even crossed my little brain, but it’s brilliant, non the less.
I assume all of the wiring under the TMD is to allow computer control? There’s a lot of work there, so not really surprised you want to keep it.
Subbed to the other channel, hadn’t realised you were into film and photo so hoping to get some good tips there for my own aspiring cinematography. 👍
I’m so pleased that I keep you amused.
I did laugh myself at the finished video.
Yes computer control is my thing.
Good luck with your layout too.
Hi Charlie,
Enjoyed all you video's most enjoyable back scene as I am doing mine over the next two weeks. Not sure how you envisage two levels for your fiddle yard as I have two level layout and needed 16 feet length for my ramp. All the best KB
Good luck with yours KB.
Great video look forward to the progression and also the follow on video for the backscene. Would prefer a second channel Charlie, for the video production and will definitely subscribe to that one. Thanks
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed the video David. The new backscene is up and will be in my next update.
I think in the space provided you are gonna get a split level fiddle yard! Maximum is 4% & that takes over 10 feet to climb the height
Cheadle Ridge Lane Tmd if the old board is lower than the rest one line can go up the other down. Would help with the incline.
Richard COCKSEY that could be the way to do it
I think the plan is starting to look dodgy.
Chadwick Model Railway you seem to have the room is there a reason you can’t keep to one level. Would be much more reliable.
Hi Charlie,
This channel is always really good to watch, just the way you present yourself on video is a joy to watch, you explain a lot of issues really well.
Hi Brian the link to the other channel is in the “Show more” tab.
I’m so pleased that you enjoy my videos and good luck with your layout.
Keep up the excellent work 😀👍
A very good point Tony though the jury is still out.
Charlie: What was your experience with the Digitrax SE8c Signal Decoder board and what type of signals did you install? I am working on some signals for my Norfolk Southern shelf layout. I am using JMRI 4.14 for control. Cheers.
Hi Jon, I found it reasonably straight forward although I believe some folk prefer the DAC 20, of which I know nothing about.
This video is the best video i have ever seen. Especially the intro. I just love your channel so much and want mine to become just like yours. (So i am definitely going to subscribe to your other channel.) Thanks for making me laugh in this video's intro and the ending of the last one. : )
Your too kind and it’s comments such as yours that make it worthwhile.
Hi Charlie,
I watch your videos and tutorials with interest.
Any advice greatly received
.
Thanks
Andrew
:))
Hi Andrew, let’s take baby steps first,
They are obviously DC locos.
So a little TLC, a little oil and with care they should run reasonably well. Just be gentle and see how it goes.
Chadwick Model Railway
Thanks for the advice, will let you know how the first one goes.
I was thinking a little time sitting on the radiator to loosen up the old oil and dirt before a good clean. Then maybe a little very low speed rolling road run.
Thanks
Andrew
Hi Charlie, May I pick your brains ? I am planning to build a layout in my garage and was wondering what would be best to use for a base board , plywood , MDF , Sundlea …. and would they need to be treated as there will be variations in temperature. Cheers Kevin
Hi Kevin, my thoughts would always be for 12mm ply. But never MDF or Sundela. They warp so easily.
Cheers Les.
I have considered a helix but it is something that I'd rather avoid.
Cheers!
Alex
Hi Alex, I’m so pleased that you enjoyed the video. You have made some good points that I will give considerable thought to.
Thanks for your preference Duckspeak.
Now I no why there is a wire shortage , u have it all. 😁
Hi Charlie, another interesting video, are you removing the tail chaser loops from the TMD when you joint the two layout together?
Yes David, those tracks do come out.
@@ChadwickModelRailway Hi Charlie, I was curious, if you had left them in you could have had a triangle to wire which would have made another good video.
What part of your house do you have your layout in?
It’s just a large study type room.
I Geoff, many thanks for bursting into hysterics at my backscene disaster. The new board arrangement wilt likely be exactly as you suggested.
5:53 confuses me as to where is this layout or layouts located, looks like half a dining room or living room. Cheers Matt
Neither really, it’s just a big room.
