you realize channel 9 have a vested interest in the state of origin getting high ratings right? they pay the NRL roughly 125 million dollars a year for the exclusive rights to state of origin and the grand final, of course they're gonna try to promote it and get a return on investment. I'm astounded that people would be surprised at this.

The reason that the game has been sanitised is due to INSURANCE of the players, it has to be this way, the majority of retired players are dying or dead or permeant injured, scared or handicapped by the fast and fierce nature of the game, look at Gallon himself, in the next 10 years he will be fighting a mental head injury and promoting a foundation of sorts. The insurance companies are just not covering the players injuries anymore, and its ALL codes. Go back and research what some of your favourite players growing up are doing today, it will shock you. The ones who can get out of bed, can sometimes remember the date...

@@jasonyoung1230 You do not have to agree, but the insurance companies started to refuse to cover players for certain injuries, HEAD injures and leg and hip injuries, it began in 2004, after a 15 years research program and has increased more each year, and its going to get worse, maybe to a point where players have to wear lots of padding. My daughter in law works in CGI sports insurance, and if they dont pay, the players dont play, its as simple as that. The NRL has been given til 2030 to show its working, behind closed doors of course. You dont have to believe me, just watch for it to happen. All footy codes have been well aware of the growing giant since the 70s, its soooooo hard to miss it.

Ponga was getting up and moved into Burton as he ran past, they both kept moving, no problems and then Gagai decided to beat up a young bloke.
If Ponga was taken out he would have been on the ground but he was long gone and had nothing to do with what followed.

I just remember Gal taking on Nate Miles a few years ago. It was very early in the game and Gal really gave it to Nate and some how nobody got sent off but it really set the game up for NSW. 🐟
