    Man, there's a AWFUL lot of history in that Port Morris yard! Thanks for bringing us along!
    PS: If you're really interested in the Lackwanna in the "olden times" and Port Morris in particular try and find a copy of Morning Sun Books "Lackawanna Railroad Trackside With Henry W. Peterson." Peterson's father was Lackawanna conductor which gave him access to many normally "off-limits" areas in the waning days of the steam era. Like most Morning Sun books it's not cheap ($54.95) but on the plus side it's all color and top quality. I've got one myself and in my opinion it's well worth the money spent. i

      @@wayneantoniazzi2706 indeed I never would have thought too deeply about a railyard but this one like many others date back and have some Jersey history to tell!

      @@JerseyRailProductions It's kind of a long shot but I wouldn't be surprised if you kicked around the ballast of some of the less-used trackage in Port Morris (or other old yards) you uncovered some chunks of coal from those long-gone steam engines.

    Just curious whats with the MTA locos? Is NJT part of MTA now?

    • @JerseyRailProductions
      @JerseyRailProductions  Місяць тому +1

      No they are not but however they do both closely work together with eachother and as there are equipment shortages sometimes we may see the different companies locos on different lines because they lend eachother equipment whenever necessary!

    Shoulda just built out to Philippsburg- could then loop down to High Bridge in the future, which then turns it into a "loop" with bidirectional single-seat service, which is a LOT more useful than having to go all the way to Jersey City and then back out toward Bound Brook or something if you're getting from Hackettstown to there.
    Tracks are already laid through there, it's signalled, and so on. There'd be more stops along the way- (Washington Township and Philippsburg.) Plus it serves Easton and Reading and Bethlehem. Very irritating that this was not considered.

    • @JerseyRailProductions
      @JerseyRailProductions  2 місяці тому +1

      @@billjameson1254 that loop wouldve been actually useful 😮 i dont know why they didnt think of that either

    • @SteveRoberts5330
      @SteveRoberts5330 Місяць тому +1

      It has been considered... But there is no major demand west of Philipsburg (the last time NJT studied it, apparently) and the High Bridge Line would need to be rebuilt around Alpha where it is severed by Route 80 in order to create that loop. Scranton has been asking for a return of intercity rail service since the 70's, thus why the LCO project has become a higher priority to the feds. As far as Philipsburgh, there is no heavy demand from Easton, Bethlehem, ETC... However, that being said Amtrak did put Allentown/Reading Service on their maps, though it would likely be via Philly and west. It's great to see so many people interested in intercity and passenger rail in the 21st Century! ❤

      @@SteveRoberts5330 They could run on the NS line, which is still intact. I'm surprised Easton/Bethlehem aren't interested. Genuinely surprised.

    • @SteveRoberts5330
      @SteveRoberts5330 Місяць тому +1

      @billjameson1254 apparently the Lehigh Line can't accommodate any passenger trains without $$$ to NS or so they say... which we all know is lies and half the reason most of the anthracite lines are still freight or abandoned... ugh. Same thing with the Binghamton Routes and connections with NYC's Empire Service/Water Level Route.
      I would LOVE to see BOTH Lackawanna Cutoffs restored and have TWO ways to get from NYC to Buffalo. But, I digress...

    I remember when the ALP 44 were brand new such a young electric I'm sorry they shouldn't get scrapped. I rode them for years throughout thier days in service what a slap in the face. The video is good otherwise nice to see the scenery around the equipment. I love the Midtown Direct all the stations mentioned I'm definitely familiar all the stops & connections & other lines on NJT I took it on Weekends to Dover New Jersey to the Trainshows given then.

    Mindblowing that even in the sticks trains get ransacked and vandalized like that. They should've scrapped them right away or at least made an attempt to close off access to the property with security and a gate. But I digress. As for the cutoff coming back, when I see it, I'll believe it. Until then, it's just hot air and bluster.

      A lot of those old ALPs got flooded in the Hoboken yard during hurricane Sandy when it was decided to park them in a known flood zone just before the storm. The imbecile who made that decision had to hide his mistake by moving their salt water rotted carcasses out to Port Morris.
