You're the first channel I've seen that has done this in Watt hours. It makes more sense to me. Amp Hours were always confusing, especially when devices (toaster, solar panels, etc.) all seem to have Watt ratings. Thanks!
Hi both of you guys. It seems wind power is phasing out. I was looking at 12 ft diameter in an architectural project because the area was very windy; and facing south, i was surprised to hear from the very supplier that turbines are too much maintenance ... and with the solar prices falling ... also there is the noise factor, we hear those still around on boats. Some are less noisy. Water turbines will slow you down but the folding prop compensates. I have been using a bungy sort of auto pilot (0watt), i have been successful at it , anyway i dont like leaving the nav. , best way to get into trouble, the AP did a 360 once ... If i may suggest , you can add real estate for more solar. Use the underneath of the panel and add more cells . Fold or not. Reflective surface will help get more power from down under. We never had to use our genset, but used it anyway for longevity. Ice making and super good iceboxes are a good idea. This next summer i will try a tarp and noodle floating water collector, even if some lake or sea water gets in, it should be good to use for cooking, showers, etc. LEDs and soon better stuff is such a blessing. No "no-see-em" in the bahamas ? I love the docks, i love the parties, i love the beach, i love the bikinis, BUT ; I hate bugs, i really hate em ... they make me half insane...
Great video, One thing I would like to comment on that will affect your over usage is the efficiency of your Inverter. Sometimes they can be quite low so if the usage is from an inverter an adjustment should be made when calculating you kWH. Keep up the good work Lewis

Ok, so we have our daily use estimates. You mentioned in the first video, that you have 10,000 wh of battery storage. If those are SLA batteries, you shouldn't discharge those beyond 50%. So you essentially have 1 day (with 600 wh spare) in battery without generating any power. At anchor you have nearly 2 days of power. This would be different if your batteries chemistry is different. Does your BMS automatically cut off to prevent over-discharging of the batteries? Or do you just keep on it manually? What are your batteries?
Please support us and make our living for us, but we don't bother answering questions that several people want to know...I'm another that would like this question answered.

The keel lift motor draws 70Amps!? That's a scary amount of current. Or is it an AC motor and this current is measured on the DC (battery) side of the inverter?
Many boaters do calculate with Amp-hours but amps aren't really power. I prefer watts since it is a true power rating. Many boats now have 24V systems and then it just gets confusing in amp-hours.
Finally, a very well produced video done in WHrs vs counting Amps. Just fantastic, and really nice electrical layout work. Top level, professional.

Yes that’s 70 amps at 12 volts about 800 watts

I agree we have some room to be more economical on power. Having a powerful system has been fun - now we need to see how little we can use!
