Toyota disguising a station wagon as a CUV/SUV is a win for me, because I love wagons and wish more Americans liked them enough for the companies to bring them back!
@@RealKevGotEm That makes no sense. Maybe you don't like them, but objectively they are the same for utility as most CUV/SUVs...so objectively not "useless". Just reactionary emotion on your part.
This is one of the best cars you can have right now as a daily driver no matter what is your needs. Other than people who really want a sports coupe, this is a great choice not enough people chose to buy.
Thank you for the video sir. I am considering buying one of these as a daily and to take a bunch of road trips across the country. I typically do not fully watch auto review videos, but I watched the full video. Your tone, items described, etc. kept my attention. Much appreciated.
I like how these companies are bringing back station wagons and calling them "SUVs". People completely buy the disguise lol, it's genius. Turns out people want wagons anyways. Good driving, just a little bit of lift goes a long way and most people won't even notice, and it's super practical. Looks like a good option to me.
@@Sheltur_0311 It's not horrible. I do wish they had an actual low wagon but maybe that's asking too much for America lol. At least in full black this car looks pretty low to the ground and wagon-like.
Whelp, that did it. That's the video that made my decision final. I'll be buying one in March, exact same color/interior/spec. Thanks for always filling in the blanks where other reviewers tend to skim over, like the auto up/down windows on every door and a test of the sound system. I don't remember anyone else mentioning the window switches. I also know I won't push mine nearly as hard as you did, but it's good to know that it handles that good in case you need to swerve in an emergency. Great drive, thanks for posting it.
I have driven the ‘25 Crown Signia Limited for about a month now. Approximately 700 miles. I have the same observation with the torque. The engine “feels” like a V6 when you are driving in Normal and Sport Drive mode. The full-time AWD does feel like you are actually in an SUV. Turning radius is very good, if I have to compare this to my previous 2016 Avalon. The seat is comfortable and we have been stuck in traffic with it. I hope that Toyota will come out with the “Platinum” model and maybe add the power steering column, HUD and maybe the retractable roof. I have been only using 91 octane for fuel and I have been getting 35mpg City and 42 mpg HWY. My only complaint is the manual steering column and no roof racks/accessories.
Chris, With the Signia's starting price ($43-44K) near a top trim compact crossover, I am thrilled to see the Outback finally has some overdue 'Japanese' competition in the Wagon/CUV category.🥳 I wish the 'party piece' extenders were swapped for a traditional 40/20/40 rear seat so the Signia could reach its full potential as a family ski wagon. It saddens me to report the Signia XLE, with its slightly more sensible 19" rims, won't be sold on the other side of the Ambassador or Gordie Howe bridges. As is too often the case these days, Toyota Canada does not understand/respect their own market. 🤨
It saddens me we get this crown over all the actual amazing crowns that got released but never here. I guess because they were actually amazing cars that Americans don't deserve because we eat crap like this up
Well said and I believe you are correct. Toyota does not respect its Canadian customers. Not only less choice, but you have to wait a year longer (for most models) than you'd have to wait in the USA. This is a nice vehicle, but not 2 year wait nice.
@@ytj22 We are being taken for granted these days. The strangest thing is that just a few years ago Toyota created cheaper trims for us to keep things more affordable. As an example, the base Corolla hatch with the steel wheels, plastic hubcaps and urethane steering wheel was not sold in the USA where the SE was bottom grade. Now it has all flipped and we cannot buy a new Camry LE as well as the base trims of many other models. It is very aggravating. Worst of all has to be the Signia because we are far more likely to embrace a wagon than our American neighbours yet our version of the Signia starts over $57,000.
The Outback costs 50k$ CAD at it's highest trim. This Toyota starts at 57k$ CAD. I don't think the Crown Signia competes with the Outback. It aims higher and outcasts several buyers at its price. Although, I cannot deny it is a beautiful car.
It's starting to get confusing cause they are starting to bring cars from other markets and making it available to the north Americans and I'm not complaining it gives people options
Great review! I really like this, but wish that the sunroof opened, and that Toyota used version 5 of their hybrid system rather than version 4. I also think it's very cheap of them not to include a spare donut, as there's space for one, when you're paying over 50K.
Such a beautiful vehicle, but honestly wouldn't mind a woodlands edition too. I wish Lexus would add more contrasting colors like this in their products! You did an amazing job with this review!
I think I read on Reddit that someone ordered one and it wouldn't fit, even though there's a cutout for it the rear floor cover wouldn't lay flat on it. You'd probably need a super skinny wheel/tire to fit in that space.
I'm a little concerned about less than 200lb ft of torque in a vehicle meant to carry this much stuff. The CRV hybrid has 250lb ft. Why the low torque number?
At 2:58, please show the fold flats fully down, it's hard enough to find visualizations much less finding it in first person perspective. And not many cars can do this
All of Toyota hybrids cars come with eCVT, only their hybrid truck frames come with traditional autos. The eCVT is the most efficient for their hybrid system and with proven reliability.
We just test drove one, very comfortable, but reading up on it some things dont make sense. Radar Cruise is standard but Stop And Go is only on Limited and requires a $15/mo subscription, among other things. I really think Limited is a waste on this model, a few extra sensors, a glass roof, and less tire. Would love to hear countrrpoints though
I'm not enthused by the CVT powertrain. The engine noise just isn't that appealing, and it sounds as if it is struggling with the weight of the car going through those bends. I've never owned a car with a CVT and the sound it makes is one of the reasons why.
Read up on this transmissions a lot more, I used to feel the same way about them as you do. And I still don’t truly enjoy the noise on it at times in my venza when I notice it. That said the technology of the transmission and how it works with the engine is impressive. In daily normal driving conditions I can very rarely ever hear my engine. It drives like butter and is meant to last. If you want reliable and longetivity and comfort, this is for you. If you want typical American 🇺🇸 6-8 speed, with good muffler sound then it’s not
Looks like it would be a nice car if the engine wasn’t so obnoxious. I’ve previously driven Toyota hybrids and found the engine to be annoyingly loud under anything but gentle acceleration, and your test seems to be backing that up again. After just owning a full electric vehicle I think that noisy engine would drive me crazy.

Over $50k! 😮 if we are crossing that price threshold, then why buy a Toyota when for a couple grand more you can buy a Luxury brand vehicle?! Honestly!
Never was a fan of Toyota design, but this is a very nice vehicle. Engine definitely struggling to get up to speed with only one person inside. Put an entire family plus luggage and its going to be very unpleasant to drive this listening to that stressed engine. At over $50K on a limited trim at least offer a bit more power. Come on Toyota.. almost every new vehicle has some kind of annoying shortcoming.. its either weird interior design, lack of power or a failed marketing research. I can't believe the engine from RAV4 Prime is not offered. Very disappointed. You were so close to an almost perfect vehicle.
