Thanks for watching. Someone brought up the "PVD" nomenclature that I've used to describe the black ropes/cords that come with the Buddy Lee ropes and that "PVD" may be incorrect. Buddy Lee used this nomenclature to describe the black, see through cords when I met him. What I will say is that the black, see through cords are much different to me than the non-transparent PVC cords I've used. Anyway, I just wanted to be up front about where I got that from. Thanks for watching.
Bought this Rope after this review. Have had it over a year. The bags markings have faded off. Have had 7 replacement ropes and needed to buy a replacement swivel. This rope tears it up in the dance studio at the gym. A real fluid jumping experience. Use it for footwork and tricks. Train boxing and grappling. Can't say how much of a good recommendation it was! Good work and thanks. Appreciate it.
I still can’t believe how fast you do the rope reversal. You’re quick, exactly the way Buddy Lee does the technique. I’ll have to upload my rope reversal technique to UA-cam and let you critique it. I can do it, but only about half the speed. Thanks for the upload! BTW, when I set up buddy Lee ropes I literally have to use pliers to turn the PVD into the swivel bearing.
Thank you. I struggled with that move for awhile when I first tried it. I still don't have it perfectly, but it's one of my favorites. You're right. Getting the rope set up can be difficult.
Wonderful review! I saw this rope on the Buddy Lee website a couple of months ago. I nearly ordered it because it’s priced less than the Rope Master, but I also saw that (according to the website description) the swivel bearings are not replaceable on the Versa Trainer. I have an Aero Speed which is awesome but I don’t use it very often. As a beginner I’m hesitant to use it because I often drop the handles (the Aero Speed handles are gorgeous and somewhat heavy and I don’t want to drop them). Also, I’m still experimenting with ideal rope length and these ropes are not easy to adjust. When my jumping improves, my appreciation of Buddy Lee’s ropes will grow.
I’ve had one of these jump ropes since I was a young kid! He would always do his Demos at the national wrestling tournaments I went to growing up. These ropes are the best, and he is a BEAST at jumping rope
Excellent review - thanks so much!! I always appreciate your detailed review on the different metrics - it's really, really helpful 🙂 🙌🏼 ! I'm glad you opined about the weight and durability of the handles; those were the main things I was interested in. Also, how it functioned for freestyle tricks, which I am doing more of these days. I'll definitely buy one now; I think it will be a good addition to the ropes I have already, and given that someone commented that you can switch out the rope for a 5mm, that sweetens the deal even more. It's interesting that you say the handles are heavy and maybe not the best for doing releases. I only just recently have FINALLY gotten - after 8 months of trying and failing - the mic release. I started with the lightweight, long-handled beaded el-cheapo jump ropes , and managed to break two of the 3 in the process when they slammed into my back deck several times. For giggles and grins, a few days ago, I decided to try my short, fat-handled 6mm rope (it's a Bally, got it for $5 from TJMAXX - my original jump rope purchase) and see how that worked for the mic releases. The handles are the heaviest of any of the ropes I own. Not only did I catch it by the handle, but was able to jump through the catch for the first time...go figure! So, the heavy handle might not be a deal-breaker for doing mic releases, but regardless, I like the responsive, ultra-fast swivel joins it has, which is why I want to get it. I have been using my Elite SRS 4mm rope more these days, and it's great for running crossovers in particular, certainly much more so than the beaded ropes Cheers, Sonya
Sonya, it's great to hear from you. Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the review. I'm sure people who are more skilled than me can do releases well with them, so I don't think that's a deal breaker on this rope. Overall, it's a great rope. I'm glad to see you're progressing in your skill acquisition. Keep up the great work. Thank you so much for supporting. Take care!
I’d be intrigued to see you do a review of ‘Ampro’s ropes. I still feel it’s one of the best PVC based ropes I’ve used. They also have two freestyle ropes as well now….. in this category for sure! Very informative video as always.
I also have this rope, green handles. Like he said, you have to put the rope in boiling water 1 to 2 minutes to knock out the kinks. Versatility is fantastic. Long handles and swivels makes lengthy durations a breeze.
I’d start on the cheaper price range with a short handled adjustable speed rope. Keyword is adjustable. Without the proper rope adjustment it’s not gonna work. I think that’s why most ppl quit. I started with a Buddy Lee Aerospeed 20 years ago. The green hornet cable makes it the F-22 Raptor of jump ropes. Or you might try the cross- rope “Bolt.” It has lighter handles and better bearing- but the price of it’s longer lasting bearings is a slight loss of freestyle capabilities. (I compare everything to jets)
Hi Thanks for the review, I own the Versa Trainer for two years (before he put it on his site) I think this is the best rope I ever had, I like it more than the Rope Master, my Rope Master broke after 8 mounts in the plastic near the bearing system, than my trainer gave me this rope and I love it, You mention some of the cons , I replace the black cord with the white it feels much better, I don't understand why you can't buy it with the white, also I move the neoprene handle from my broken Rope Master and put it on the Versa Trainer , I'm a sweaty guy and now I think it perfect for my style of jumping, I really recommend this rope.
Kobi, good points man. The handles are much more durable than the Rope Master. I haven't had a Rope Master break on me yet, but I've heard they can be delicate. Thanks a lot for watching, man! ✅💪🏽🙏🏽
Buddy Lee ropes in my opinion are the best, been using them since 2011 and never looked back. I have used the "Aero Speed Rope" and "Master Rope" both are excellent if you want to learn tricks or have an intense endurance workout. I was disappointed with Cross Rope, but i have not used their heavy sets yet, i look forward to it soon. Also, your reviews are solid, great analysis and a EXTREMELY underrated channel in the jump rope community compared to most. You earned my subscription, been dancing with ropes for 11 years and counting.
Hey Jump Rope Veteran, your videos are getting better and better I love the podcast and giveaway ideas! I've also noticed your videos are getting more views amazing job. Thank you so much for watching and for the feedback. I appreciate it. This is a great idea. I'll see if there are any Everlast ropes I can use. Take care and keep getting after it! 💪🏾
If you were to compare the ropes based on versatility and freestyle, how would you rank this one, the Buddy Lee Master, and the Elite SRS? I personally own the Elite SRS, which is a great rope, but just curious on the Buddy Lee ropes
This rope and the Buddy Lee Rope Master are in the same category, but the EliteSRS Fit Plus and the Rope Master are easier to use and more versatile than the VersaTrainer. In order, I would rank the EliteSRS #1, the Rope Master #2, and the VersaTrainer #3 as far as speed and maneuverability is concerned. The only real difference between the EliteSRS and the Rope Master is that the Rope Master is heavier because of the hardware. It'll give you more feedback, but it's slower because of the weight.
@@JumpRopeVeteran hey man it's me again visiting the guro of jumpropes .. what your say on buddy lee as durability and longevity specially that I use a mat .. is there better option not for freestyle but for conditioning I live in Germany and not all jumpropes are available and buddy lee as you know is on reasonable price .. and thanks like always ... rx ropes are hard to ship and cross rope are too expensive so I do t have much options left

Similar size handles The handles of this rope look very similar to the handles of his beaded rope. More robust Almost like a happy medium between the master and beaded Great reviews and skipping!
The handles are more durable than the Rope Master's handles. I've had no issues with the Rope Master's handles, but I've heard many comments similar to yours about the handles breaking. I think you could make the argument that this is a good medium between the beaded rope and the Rope Master. Thank you for watching and asking such a great question. 💯🙏🏾
Finally got to use this properly! Been busy and or injured. Awesome rope especially for crossovers. Best I’ve ever done double crossovers. Interestingly they almost feel easier than doubles as standard doubles burn my wrists more with these handles. Good wrist training though.
Chun, good question. You have to unscrew the rope from the swivel bearing so that it's completely free of the handles before cutting. If you're not comfortable cutting, you can always tie a knot closer to the handle to shorten the rope. That's what I do. JRTF. 💪🏾🔥
