Gustaf, I’m enjoying your videos. I live in Oregon and riding my V-Strom through Baja California is on my bucket list. I also like your style. We have a couple things in common, 2018 V-Strom 650 and cigars. Let me know if you’re interested in touring Oregon and making some videos. Lots to see and explore here in the PNW.
Thank you! It's high on my list to explore the rest of the US some day. If i ever get the chance to I'll be in touch, I'll make sure to bring some sticks that you cant get in the US ;) Safe riding and best regards!
Hi fellow rider; I have the same bike and just bought the same light kit. May I have a few questions; Which source have you used to trigger the relay? High beam positive lead? Do you use a seperate switch? Is it not possible to slide the wires through the left side of the bike without removing body panels, tank etc? Finally, do really 80 extra watts weaken the battery e.g. the alternator is unable to charge it in low rpm? I may replace halogen bulbs (120 watts in total) with led bulbs (70 watts in total) to spare some juice... Thanks for the video and ride safe.
I trigger the relay from the positive lead to the high beam. And the included switch in between the high beam positive and the relay to be able to disable the lights if needed. The alternator on the V-Strom is “only” 400w max. At low rpm it’s probably less than half. And with the stock lighting (55w +65w) and the led lights it’s 200w total of just lighting. I swapped my OEM high beams to 20w led too, helped a lot. You probably can install it without removing everything, but for a really clean install it’s better to do it the right way with a clean install. Ride safe!
I have the same bike and the same lights. Great combo. Cheers!
Nice, just got a vstrom 2 weeks ago , amazing bike , now for the upgrades 😁

Gustaf N , That would be nice. Be safe and keep up the good work.
Which brackets did you use? Thanks.
Sorry for the late reply!
I used the brackets from SW-Motech. Works great and mounts firm, but loose enough to fold in in case of accidents.

@@GustafN thanks very much. I ll get to work on it asap. Ride safe. Cheers
@@GustafN just one more question: which color is the positive wire of high beam light? Thanks again.
Do you have a separate switch for the lights?
They are triggered by the high beams. But I have a off-button to deactivate the trigger.
So I can’t turn on the lights separately.
