My only visit to Hell's Canyon some 20 years ago was a drive to Hat Point. I slept solo in my Honda station wagon at the rim of the canyon. The wild flowers in July were spectacular! Later, I spent the next 2 weeks exploring and photographing Oregon's gorgeous ghost towns. Thank you for sharing your experiences which brought back many fond memories for me!
Nice solitude and golden grass look this time of year! I agree on the summer weather and sunsets for backpacking. Just seemed to thunderstorm and rain every time I went backpacking, then clouds would roll in right at sunset. Some great stargazing though.
Came to Idaho from Reno 33 years ago and always wanted to go to Hell’s Canyon. My 82-year-old legs won’t do it these days so thanks so much for your wonderful video. You now have a first time subscriber.💕
@ very true. including getting tossed out of the boat into a rapid. I didn’t put my foot in a “stirrup “as instructed to do so. My brother joined me and did put his foot in the stirrup and had issues with his ankle for years. As for me, I had a refreshing dip.🤣🤣.
My fam and I rafted the East Fork of the Salmon for almost a week but I’ll probably never get here so thanks for the Great Look. definitely lonely. Thanks for posting.
That pano of river basin sums up Idaho. South Sierra Nevada is dry if you like dry go North from Walker Pass. Owen's Oeak. Kennedy Meadows. Olancha backwoods. Late August, you can get your dry on. Or Inyos. For sure. Bristlecone. DEATH VALLEY up a mountain out of Pantimont Valley. Idaho is crazy wild but most skip it. Not the Northwest Wander. He has to do it it is in his name. 😅
If I do desert I go out of Mackay ID. Rarely. Obviously, Inyo Mountains and South Sierra are dry. I love Bristlecone out to White. How did you like John Day.😅 The pass out of the Town-John Day is friendlier area. Then river gorge with little campground. The only reason to go is driving from WA to Sierra Nevada on 395. Bend is awful area. To each his own. John Day river goes forever.

Another great video, I have been watching your videos for years and you never disappoint.
Brother thanks for this video. It made me more happy that you can even imagine. Stay safe. God bless 🙏🏻
Such a great watch. The landscapes and nature is amazing. So beautiful.
Beautiful ❤
Great video Andrew. By the looks of it, this might be the loneliest corner of the NW. The NWW collection would not complete without it.
its extremely unique, great place to go in April/Early May. Would be great to backpack there with you some day!
Let's Go Avalanche!! Gotta love those Bergundy & Blue sunsets!! Hehehehe muhahaha
Oh god not the Avs!
Beautiful area. 150 miles from my house.
Great!
