    Beautiful skiing! An observation: at slower speeds, slower rythym and less edge angle, you tend to use a pole 'plant' (the pole tip stabs the snow), whereas at faster speeds faster rythym and more edge angle (more inclination), you use a pole 'touch' and 'drag' (where the pole tip drags on the snow as a feeler). In fact, you often continue to use a pole plant with your left arm, after you have already transitioned to a pole touch with your right arm. Why the asymmetry?
    Perhaps a better description of the pole 'touch' is that the pole tip and basket are facing backwards when they contact the snow, there is a 'bounce' then the 'drag'. This is especially true in SL because the touch evolves from the cross block. In GS the 'bounce' can evolve more smoothly into drag, well above the gate, but then the inside arm/forearm often need to adjust to pass the GS gate.

    Some of the footage really portrays the rolling or tipping of the feet on the downhill ski (inside to outside edge). For someone like me who really learned how to ski with much more emphasis on the outside ski while the inside ski did little, the rolling or tipping of the feet is so fundamental, and once learned is a game changer.

    • @miromiro
      @miromiro  3 роки тому +4

      Inside ski pressure is important. Minim 30% but on flat is 40 to 50 % for shure

    • @resabape
      @resabape 3 роки тому +1

      @@miromiro I find that tipping the foot of the outside ski as an early step in the turn avoids the wedging or the lifting of what becomes the new inside ski as we use to do many moons ago. Tipping from the inside to outside edge on the downhill skill is not comfortable at first but once adopted, it facilitates the turn and looks much better.

      Same here. Active, concious inside ski managment took my skiing to higher level.
      Other "feature" of "pro-like" skiing is awerness of the fact that tipping is not a position. It's a process. High edge angles as early as possible and then even higher, more and more tipping. That motion makes skiing dynamic on the contrary to park&ride, where angles achieved at the beginning of the turn are carried out throughout entire turn.
      Easy to say but it requires practice. It took me circa 100 days on slopes to master tipping which is accompanied by angulation. No angulation while tipping equals fall or knee injury.
      Good luck!

    • @miromiro
      @miromiro  3 роки тому +1

      @@conViction0000 its long proces to get this, its months of training as you said but is is game changer. great style!one question, what is the pourcentage of weight you put on the outside ski ? Also the distribution during the 3 phases of the turn, 1) initiation of the turn 2) middle of the turn 3) end of the turn. ?

    • @miromiro
      @miromiro  3 роки тому +3

      basic initiation 50 50 and going more on to 70 30 on center end and releasing to next turn with 50 50. take this numbers rough. But outside ski is the boss. When you fell biggest force, edge angle, in that moment you need to be on outside ski. In race skiing that is around fall line.
      If you are really advanced is possible transition over inside ski, bit longer explanation story then.

    when doing quicker slalom turns do you put more pressure on outside ski when turning?

    • @miromiro
      @miromiro  3 роки тому +4

      Speed means more pressure in turn-its mostly from force by speeding up and turning, but not too much body forcing pressure then body moves to much, to find flow you need to be in optimal position. If you go too much back, tips are starting to go up, you loose edge grip, to much front is allsow bad. Best is start at blue or easy red just to get body movement right with medium pressure, just playing bit front medium and bit back, by soft snow is really dangerous to go to much on front. Just skiing with feeling. Later on on advanced level you focus to put force into speed,so every turn you ride bit faster, alsow more controling to turn over inside ski like tess said in comments, take in mind pros like Leona they just ski and train every day all of life to get this with corrections after every run, it is long proces just train train and train.
