you mentioning owning the r1 for 3 years is crazy. My old man has owned his Gpz 900r since new in 1984 and still runs with 40000km on the clock lol. He hasn't owned any other bikes in that time.
I've owned 15 bikes or so in the past 5 years so I can definitely relate to moving on to new things. Bummed to see the 250x go. You'll sell it for a good amount come summer. I'm on my 3rd 250x at this point. They hold value really well!

I completely agree on the part where you talk about how a lot of the enjoyment of owning a bike is building it up and making it the best version of that bike possible. I'm the same way with cars too, I need another Jeep lol

the best part of owning motorcycles, who says you have to just have 1! I have a dream to own just about any style of bike out there: cafe, super sport, sport touring, cruiser, bobber, supermoto, scrambler, or whatever it is. there are so many kinds of bikes out there, try them all! when you're done with one, sell it and try the next one! :)

You are right, As a car owner if you got one and as a bike owner, your better off learning how to fix these issues yourselfs instead of wasting money getting other people how to do it or buying new parts, how do you think others learned how to fix these problems, they probably took apart these things and put them back together
I wish I had the cash, looking to add a Sumo to the stable soon. I've owned about 9 bikes in the last 6 years, have my fun and move onto the next. Can't wait to see the 450 done up! 👍🏽
Man.... I'm going through the same thing right now! As you may know I have a 2008 R6. I've spent a lot and I mean a lot of money into it. But lately I've been thinking about Selling it and getting something new and starting over with the mods making it different and custom. But idk cuz I don't I have such I so called emotional attachment to it. It was my first bike, I've made it custom with all the mods. I got a lot of thinking to do.

This is basically a "I'm tired of a 600 I want a 1000" typical squid wanting to upgrade because there isn't enough power. That's the thing with the 250x, you make the power on it, you have to ride it fast. Basically he just wants a faster bike. Squid move.

You aren't a real rider if you're going to try and say somebody is a squid for doing something every single rider does. I ride a 2007 200 xc for enduro and soon I plan on upgrading to a 2017 250 xc for the power, and that makes me a normal person not a squid
+Dante Klein The only reason a 1000 exists is for more power. The only reason a 450 exists is for more power. You don't have to go faster to enjoy the power. It is relevant in every gear across the entire RPM range.

Idea: Why not keep it for a while longer as an extra bike for when people come from far away for meetups? Kinda like giving back to the community and adding more history to it.

We'll if you look at statistics, it takes about 3 years to full adjust to a motorcycle and all of its handling characters. And if you don't do track days, it can take even longer.

I'd rather have a stock slow bike made into a faster bike, than a stock fast bike made into a faster bike, or worse, leave it stock. Shoulda kept the WR250X.

Idn't a crf450r way more maintenance though? The amount I ride, I'd hate to do oil changes every weekend. Don't get me wrong. I like to wrench on the bike, but I like to ride way more. That's the only thing that's stopped me from getting a CRF. Or maybe I'm wrong about the main schedule?
