I’m a huge fan of the Ritmas! I own all of the colors and that magnetic capping “shunk” makes me so happy :) Also appeals to my modernist aesthetic taste with their bright colors and clean lines.
I bought the olivine and I have to say it ruined my experience with monteverde pens. My main issue with this pen is that the ink does not flow well. I fill the converter and all works but after a day or so the ink just stops. I check the converter and it's practically full, but I did find a worn around. What I do is I twist the tip to push that piston(?) down thus pushing the ink and letting me write. This sucks since obviously I have to open the pen and push theink down then close the pen..it's a hassle. Not sure what is wrong but this is a con for me. I really like the color and the magnetic cap but the ink issue is the reason this pen is in my pen case for good.
Same with me. I had really looked forward to using this pen when I bought it earlier this year, but it was a under-performer. Ink flow is pretty bad for it being a Jowo #6.
I would have agreed with you had this been a few days ago. I have a Ritma with a fine nib that wouldn't flow to save its life, but I had a moment of clarity, and used Monteverde's own ink (Ocean Noir in this instance) in the pen instead of Diamine (Sherwood Green) or Noodler's (54th Mass). The sucker turned into a fire hose and actually flowed consistently. I think it's a joke that you can't use whatever ink you want in the pen you purchased except for what appears to be Monteverde's own inks, but that at least salvaged the pen as a viable writing tool for me.
@@Vivaporius I used monteverde olivine ink on it but it still had the same issue as when I used pilot Iroshizuku so idk what's the deal. It just sits there in my case now but I'm thinking of throwing it away now.
I asked for the black one with the EF nib for Christmas. It is a heavy pen, heavier than I expected, but easy to control. I too experienced a difficult time writing. When pausing to think about my next sentence, the pen had a hard start with no ink. I had to have another sheet of paper to get the ink flowing and then resume writing. Thank you for another great review!
Great review! I see these advertised regularly but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I love my Monteverde Innova as an EDC because the clip is rock solid and the snap cap doesn’t come off in my jeans pocket like a screw cap does.
Sweet review, not a pen for me so I thank you for sharing it with us. I enjoy watching you put these pens through your paces and give us a good idea what the pens you review are really about. Thank you. Please take care, be safe and have a lovely day.
I purchased this pen for my birthday. I was disappointed that the converter that came with the pen would not seat. When I looked at it in comparison to the cartridge I could see that the top to the cartridge was different. It was a very hard pen to start. Took a lot of pumping to get the ink flow started, but once it did the flow has been steady, but it is early days yet. My pen was flawless out of the box and, as the review says, the capping and crowing of the pen is very, very satisfying due to the magnets. I enjoy the pen (I have a stub nib) and the pen was purchased at Goulet Pens for a very reasonable price. Candidly, it feels more expensive, because of its weight and would make a nice gift to someone who likes fountain pens or is just getting into the hobby. Thanks for the review!
It’s a nice pen. I have a black, red and several olive pens from a set Monteverde put it. I have had issues with some of the converters that have a tendency to work their way off, leaving an ink mess inside. They should have a threaded converter to prevent this happening. There’s a threaded converter but it doesn’t work on the Ritma.
The guys over at Goulet are giving free ink with Monteverde so Im ordering my first when I get paid. I am still stumbling around the under $50 pens trying to find my favorite brands before bigger investments. Twisbi (Go, ECO) and Kaweco(Sport) are my favorites so far. Twisbi 580 will probably be my first $50+. Your reviews are a lifesaver. As they are informative and let me know what Im ordering before especially putting it next to pens I know already. Theres no physical pen shop in my city so videos are the next best thing.
Hi David, I'm a 'penner' also, over near Concord, so if you're ever in the neighborhood give me a heads up! That blue, looks like velvet-flocked corrugated piece you show pen comparisons on (eg at 8 minutes in this video)? I've been looking for one of those with no luck, & not even really sure what it's called. Will you please advise me where you got it, or where they can be bought or made? Huge Thanks!!
I believe it is from the Greek rhuthmós; movement or flow, both apply to writing, as well as symmetry, which could apply to the design of the pen, it also means rythm in the Sami language, as well as being a name and a music album, not that I think the last one is connected hehe.
@@jonnybaseball98, It's inexpensive and, assuming it has a Jowo nib, you should get a decent writing experience out of it, so my only concern would be the odd section. At this price point, there aren't too many nice metal pens, so I wouldn't say it's a complete waste of money. It's not particularly heavy either, which tends to be a nuisance with metal pens.

i'M about to get my first one but I cannot decide between the blue or turquoise one....

I have the same issues with mine. I collects dust, unfortunately.
I have no issues with flow at all, it flows well and stays wet even if I don't use it for weeks.

The Ritma Pocket Neck Pen is one of my favorites. The smaller size fits my hand perfectly and the small Omniflex is a nice writing nib.

Always a great and interesting review. Really like your work.

My common issue with Monteverde, the metal grip. If they insist on metal grips then give it some texture.
Very much the best!
i've never been so excited to see ABCD before 😂
Just not feeling it. Another good review, David. Thanks very much.
Not worth the investment.

Good for the price I guess, but for me its too basic and I'm not into metal pens
