It's kinda cool to see Keely running the 400 to improve her speed against Mu and Mu running the 1500 to improve her endurance against Moraa.
Indeed. It’s a great bit of rivalry we’re witnessing currently.
That's crazy and funny same time 🤣🤣
They are all converging on the 800m. Women's 800 and 400 will be killer races.
and Faith Kypyegon runs 5000m, eventually even 3000m steeplechase
Keely is doing this as a warm-up for the 800.
Well made Keely.
Strong in 400 also to get most velocity in 800 mt .
Let's GO KEELY
Great to see athletes mixing the distances up.
Am I the only one who thought that looked WAY faster than 53? She kept a great pace, I thought it was going to be close to 50 flat when she was at the 250 mark or so 😵💫
A bit surprising to see the time of 53.08.
It would have been interesting to hear what Keeley thought of that race...
It’s only the first round
Keely is an all around middle Distance runner. I enjoy the 800m specialist dont get me wrong but i love the 800m specialist that is able and willing to do that 400m , 600m, 1500m, and in some cases the 3000m. It just really shows off them as an athlete.
want to see Hodgkinson vs Femke Bol
Great training for the 800m
It's wise for her to work on the 400m. Even for qualifying, that's a pretty pedestrian time. Mu ran a 49:57 as a freshman in college.
No shame in loosing to Moraa.....but hope to see this athlete win a World title in the 800. this is a good way to get that leg speed up. go Keely!
Nice to see her doing some decent level speed work. I think she was stung by the defeat from Mary Moraa last week so needs the sharpness from running a couple of quick 400s.
Am sure she's just training her speed. She's a pure 800M runner and is the one to beat. Moraa outsmarted her by boxing her on the first 400M. Moraa then had enough to outkick her.
@@mf5202 She's not the one to beat. She's never beaten Mary Moraa or Athing Mu
Moraa is a beast in 400m she ran national record last week 50:38 and next week Monaco she's running 400m she's expected to go below 50:00 secs
@@realspitter2727 Keely beat Marry in the Olympics and world championship finals. How else would she have gotten silver medals on both occasions since Athing Mu won the gold medals?
@@realspitter2727 Athing Mu is looking weak. She almost beat her once and is looking stronger. Moraa is tough though.
what is her typical first lap split when running 800? it's got to be close to this considering she is at 1:55, isn't she?
First laps usually between :55 and :58. Most top 800m runners can hit the 400m in an 8 at about 3 seconds slower than their best flat-out 400m. The second lap is all aerobic which is why you generally see 800m/1500m competitors over 400m/800m competitors.
Didn't she only run 1:55 one time?
@@micdeleon Twice actually. First time at Tokyo Olympic finals, and 2nd time for this season's outdoor opener.
Nicely done, but about 4 secs too slow for being interesting.
She's an 800m runner, also this is just a heat.
@@decaDBZ That is right. So therefore I said: nicely done... But I don't understand why we need a video about an 800 m runner doing a heat, and producing an OK but not very interesting time, like thousand will be run...
@@rientsdijkstra4266 what you don't seem to understand is that the time for winning a heat is literally irrelevant, literally. In the 2012 Olympics Bolt ran a mere 10.09 in the 100m heats. But of course people did not say wow only 10.09 that's so average, because they know he just cruised that time to keep his energy reserves high. In the final he ran 9.63.
Keely is an Olympcic silver medalist, she won that silver in Tokyo at the age of just 19. She is the current European Indoor Champion as well. Her Tokyo performance is at a similar level that Sydney Mclaughlin had reached at a similar age of 18-19 and just look at what Syndey has done in recent years.
Any super elite athlete that does an event they've never done before is going to attract a lot of interest. Sure the 400m isn't her event and she is just doing such to assist her speed for the 800m but that draws a lot of interest nonetheless. Seeing what she can do in the semi and final when she actually gives more effort shall certainly be interesting.
You always compete in the distance below (to work on speed), and, above (to work on strength-endurance), your focus distance.
400m? Nice!
glad she's running this, but to be honest, it was a terrible time.
Great race
that's wild. 400m is a short distance race. we need another middle distance length or a middle distance steeple
Actually, the 400m is considered a long sprint.
I hope Kelly this year 2024 compete 400m, 800m, and 4x400.. World championship & Olympic
congrats, Katie!
Well, that was underwhelming......
1:11 - most impressive thing about Hodgkinson is she's beating these other girls despite dragging a wagon along with her
Damn that puts Femke down one more spot on the 400m .......... 😞
She ought to stick to 1/2s.
Someone to correct me please, but did she run around 22 s the first 200m ?
She ran ~24.4 for the first 200.
53 seconds ain't that fast. Back in high school I ran a 52!
Keely get third place in 51"74, is or not great ?
See you again at Budapest for Gold!!
"Carpe diem " Keely.
Not a great time. Not sure that it's indicative of how well she''ll run in Budapest in the 80m though. Barring disaster, she'll be on the podium in Budapest.
@@jgcaesar4 No , l Think l am right.
Keely has a fantastic grit , class in running, a capacity to read the race.
I believe in her.
GOLD !!
@@alessandrodelmonte5765 She's capable of winning the gold. I agree. I don't see her as the favorite though.
Bol's realm.
Sydney was 4 seconds faster
This was a heat not a final and Sydney is a 400m runner not 800m. What is your point?
Sydney had a better time WITH hurdles...just think about that.😂
In a first round, not even close.
I expected her to be sub52
This was a heat not a final. Wouldn't expect her to run all out.
Crazy to think that elite male distance runners can run 53/52/51 at the end of a 5.000m and 10.000m
Like comparing oranges and apples
I love Kelly, congratulations❤️
Mu is smarter to improve her endurance with testing the waters out with the 1500 instead. Keeley doesn’t stand a chance.
She stands a great chance
Well... As long as she's in the race she stands a chance, but I get what you mean
What a BODY 😮
Different strokes for different folks😁
One of the best in Track & Field. Brittany Anderson from Jamaica has the best
The entire women's long jump and triple jump competitors have entered the conversation.
@@jimmason8502 Surely you’re not forgotten the the pole vaulters ?😁
@@realspitter2727Fatima Diame for me.
Y ?? 😎 🆒️ tho
I forgot how young she still is...but she should stick to 800m coz Sydney run better time with hurdles
Keeley is doing this as a warm-up for the 800.
@@markuse3472well it’s a very slow warm up. No potential in the 400m unlike mu who can run 49 maybe even 48.
not sure why everyone’s concerned about time in a first round heat, only goal is to finish first
That's a good time!
It's terrible considering Sydney ran a 48...
the only goal is to win the first round heat, not time
As a former track runner myself. She ran a good 400 which isn't her #1 event
@@UkaOpsTeam You mean as a former below average runner, not a high level athlete...
@@NelsonJ1 I'm sure I'll smoke you. I could score points from the mile to the 100
