An impromptu vlog from the beautiful North Yorkshire town of Richmond.
Join us as we spend an afternoon taking in the beautiful waterfalls on the River Swale, admire the stone built houses and cobbled streets and visit the Victorian Market and arrive too late to visit the stunning castle ruins!

Plenty of water in that river. Very powerful flow. You are quite right, it was worth the climb up the road. What a lovely place is Richmond. And you got to see a castle- even from the outside. Lovely 'Out & About" video Andy. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿
Thanks, Anita. There has been plenty of rain recently to supply the rivers. Richmond is one of many pretty towns in North Yorkshire.

@@OutandaboutwithAndy it was raining so much by the time I got to the falls I wasn’t there too long. I did explore the ruins at easby abbey first so filmed a bit there before the heavens opened up 😅🌧🌧

Wow! the waterfalls are stunning, yes can see why you didnt need audio, a lovely walk by the riverside. The ruins look very impressive. Love cobbled streets and very uphill. So many quaint buildings. Hi Andy, great footage of the waterfall! Wow! I was just thinking how hilly it was there - and then you mentioned it in the video, lol! Been going there since I was a kid and we still go several times a year every year, as it is only 15 miles away. I know you were strapped for time but the 3 miles circular walk from the old station down the river to the Abbey and back is always a favourite of ours and one we do every time we were there, cheers Alan

Ah! A place we haven’t visited yet. We’ve stayed in Leyburn a couple of times, a few miles south. Next time we’re up there we’ll definitely pay Richmond a visit. Thanks for the guided tour. 🙂

Wow! That waterfall location looks straight out of West Virginia, you'll see it in my next video! Beautiful! It was really roaring! What is a "charity shop"? Not sure I've heard that term before. Looks like a nice place, seems to be a lot of historical stuff to do around there. Loved the look around as always! Have a great week over there pal!
Thanks for watching Paul. The waterfall was great, I can remember being there as a teenager. I took a film camera along with me, a camera I've not used before, so I'm not sure how the images will look 😅.
It's a pretty little market town with plenty to see and do.
A charity shop, I guess the closest you will have in the US is a thrift store or goodwill. Various UK charities operate these stores in the high streets. They pay lower rates than regular retailers who pay high premiums.Some high streets and shopping malls end up with more charity shops than retailers. Richmond is an affluent area, so it was a surprise to see as many.
Hi Andy think we have drove through but not sure we have been to this area, Jill thinks she stayed for a school trip but isn’t sure! Lovely whistle stop tour! Great shots of the waterfalls! Oo it has a castle shame you didn’t have time! Superb 👍
It's well worth stopping off. It's easy to just take the A66 and head over to the Lakes, but Richmond is worthy of a visit. It's even Alan Metalman approved. 👍 Thanks for watching Nick and Jill. I'd have liked to have made a longer video, but we were just there for a few hours.
@@OutandaboutwithAndy think we would do anything to live nearer the A66. At this point I’d probably donate a kidney for a spot of dual carriageway within 50 miles of where I live!
A place I've never been to but it looks like my sort of place. I understand that Eastvale in the Inspector Banks novels by Geoffrey Robinson was based on Richmond and Ripon. Last minute decisions can sometimes turn out well, like this. nice one.
Thanks for watching, Keith. It isn't a place I've visited often to be honest and I'm not sure why as it's probably the closest part of the dales to us being only a few miles south of Darlington. Well worth a visit.
I love Yorkshire, but the hills and dales aren't ideal for my bike
