As soon as I heard skeleton and chain, I knew what was happening. 😂
I was halfway thinking it was Scorpion, before the jacket. The Skeleton didn't quite fit but could be understandable.
same.
Any time the Undead Warlock is given love I thumb up! Such a great class!
The reborn skeleton is pointless then since Undead warlock give you an Aspect of the dead and Ghost Rider isn't transformed all the time.
@lemuntpicard7482 maybe he wants to be a skeleton all the time and the form of dread is the flames? Don't care still awesome 😎
My answer to ask of these flavor questions is always: flavor is free! Go wild! The game mechanics, however, don't change.
Flavor may be free but mechanics are not. You should never compromise one for the other but man it hasn't stopped me from realizing you could sort of make a Saiyan using Simic Hybrid.
@@sutoriimmortal2177 I played a deep gnome battlesmith once. She flavored her steel defender to be a wooden siege engine looking skid steer and used it as a mount. Her forge tools were welding torch that was connected to a backpack that could pump alchemy solutions through the tip. Feather Fall? I shoot expanding foam at the ground. Faerie Fire? I bite the top off a glowstick and flick it around. Guidance? I pull out a multimeter looking thing with two electrodes that I jam into the base of your skull to zap your brain which also causes a migraine for the next few hours.
If the DM had said "stop it with all of the weird crap and I'll just give you a +1 to your int bonus!" I would have been better off mechanically, but I would have had much less fun. Flavor often beats mechanics when it comes to fun.
@@stickjohnny Flavor shouldn't have to beat mechanics is my point. This is as much a game as it is a role playing session. That's the point of the genre name: Role playing game. If you ever end up compromising either flavor or mechanics you just end up doing a disservice to your character and what they can bring for fun. Your character sounds quite fun, and relatively effective by artificer standards (poor thing's only got like 4 subclasses and not a lot to show for em...). I'd say you did good.
@@sutoriimmortal2177 That's the beauty of flavor though, it almost never has to directly compete with mechanics. The example I gave above where the DM would give a medicinal benefit in exchange for playing things vanilla isn't something I or any DM I have played with would ever do. If they did, however, they would almost certainly be making the game less fun. One of the best things about ttrpgs is the ease of customization and flavor. If you neglect that you are halfway to being better off playing video games.
@@stickjohnny What do I know then? It's not like I've been in the exact situation before, sacrificing effectiveness for flavor purposes and ending up the weakest and ignored character at the table. Though I do find it very funny that most of my ideas lately for characters have come back to a Barbarian. I miss the strength stat whenever I end up not having it on a character. It's like a metaphor. XD
Can I reflavour... Answer should almost always be yes.
That makes for the best characters.
I mean...given how many times we as gamers are like "I want to make that cool pop culture character but in D&D" this is 100% a valid conversation. I keep wanting to make a Spider-Man inspired Dodge Tank, who uses insults to taunt his opponents to attack him instead of the people I'm trying to protect.
Could probably do a bard/monk multiclass. Might be a bit MAD but it could work. Ask your DM if you can get Compelled Duel as a bard and Enthrall to force enemies to target you, vicious mockery for his sling of insults. Alternatively, the upcoming College of Dance could work well with minor reflavoring.
The above comment works, but also consider being a Battlemaster Fighter. The Goading Attack manuever is literally that, and BM gives some really nice variety for crowd and battlefield control, so you'll really feel like you can not only protect your allies but also manage the enemies and keep the battle going YOUR way.
That sounds awesome I’m currently working on a handsome Jack bard who’s spells are reflavored as like gadgets
That should be Fiend patron anyway
As a Eldritch Knight / Armorer Artificer can I be a Power Ranger?!
Hell yeah
Closer to Ironman
@@thomcat2704 With that I meant a character capable of D-on and D-of its armor using the Weapons Bond feature.
my dumb ass: "...scorpion...?"
Deltora quest is my answer to that meme where it’s like “the man and the mediocre books series he read as a child” (except like not a man). That was my shit for multiple years of my childhood
I also view my leather jacket as heavy armor in my day to day
I would be so confused until the point they mention the leather jacket, like. What? Uhh? Sure. I geuss. Wait a second.... (skelatal laugh)
I grew up with bikers as a child, so Ghost Rider was my favorite cartoon as a child... 25 years later I'm ready to play DnD just for this build
That one I respect.
Ah yes
The Ghost Walker
For a moment there I thought you were going Pinhead from hellraiser with the chains and leather rather than Ghost rider.
I was thinking scorpion lol
I was expecting skorpion
Dragon leather jacket
Def doing that combo if my gestalt character dies
Skeletons and chains brought me to 1 of 2 conclusions
A) ghost rider
B) scorpion, but the undead/reborn one.
Love this idea 😂
As long as the first two were met you have Ghost Rider. The leather Jacket is just the Nicholas Cage style rendition - Others have had differing attire throughout their history both on mount and attires... So you could create a Palock knight in flaming chainmail or platemail if you wanted, and even flavor from there that your chain armor is where your eldritch chainblasts were fired from.
I initially thought Sans Undertale, but the he aaid chains, then I thought Ghost Rider
i also do that eldrich blast chain reflavor because my hexblade is one of the grim reaper's scythes and my warlock powers are death magic
To be honest i thought this was going to be scorpion based on the skeleton and chains but hould have known better since rogue pr ninja werent mentioned lol
HAIR!!!
You wouldn't really need to reflavor the skeletal appearance. I mean, Form of Dread covers that. It's not like Johnny Blaze walks around as a flaming skeleton full time!
How to implement the penance stare as lore accurate as possible
The penance stare is the spirit of vengeance ability to inflict all of the EVIL you have inflicted on the world every murder every stubbed toe every agony with only the good you put in the world acting as a bulm to your pain
The only way to "beat the stare" id to be a ultra masochist, not have a soul, have an angel feather, or be a genuinely good person with little to no sins.
The stare is a proportional attack with psychic, soul, and ego damage.
Okay I like the idea but the problem is how are you going to implement this mechanically such as how much damage would it do to a wide variety of enemies like say you're fighting one of the demon lords how much damage is it going to do to them versus like say inferno the dragon of the Star Mounts or even your local bandit leader?
@@MarMonkey2606 the karma value should be tracked
@MarMonkey2606 I would ask if they were okay with dropping Spirit Projection as a feature for the Pentence Stare ability once per long rest: While Grappling a Target, you can use this feature. If the target is guilty of sin (DM decides), you stare into its eyes and project it's worst actions upon itself. Target can make one last saving throw, on failure, target is destroyed.
Only thing Id say is that Ghost Rider is clearly a fiend warlock since he literally obtained his powers by making a deal with the devil.
But Id def keep the reborn portion and all the other reflavorings.
The spirit of vengeance is actually a heaven sent being melfisto just manged to catch a few and do the equivalent of put a dog chain on a megalodon the best he was able to do was learn how to hid and how to control the binding procedures to the human host
For real tho, there are few things I hate more than people in an otherwise custom setting, playing some character from media...
Honestly, kinda thought it was gonna be Spawn.
now, somebody needs a pennance stare
There's alot of dms who disagree with me on this because they are very particular about there world but flavor is free.
Sans undertale
I have a dnd question. How would I go about doing a pact of the blade warkock without doing a actual patron
Wiser minds can correct me, but I'm pretty sure it would be flavoring. Like you stumbled across an artifact that gives you powers and those powers increase as you level up. Unless you are looking for a build LIKE a pact of the blade warlock without actually being a warlock?
Does Mephistopheles count as a undead patron or a fiend patron?
how would i play a succubus paladin with an oath to love? as i can not play a cleric of love, as there is not goddess or god of love, not even a god(ess) of the shady hook up off from grinder.
Would this also work for Spawn
