With over 70% of the workforce looking for a new job at any given time, we must be experiencing a widespread job hunt, right? Not so fast. People aren’t just looking for a job as much as they’re looking for THE job - something that lights them up and makes them feel fulfilled inside. As the workforce undergoes a sweeping search for clarity, it’s time to block out the noise around you so you can come home and connect to yourself instead.
Specifically, I share questions that will help you find your purpose by combining:
    1. Your natural skill set
    2. Things you love doing
    3. Careers that rely on people with your skill set

Hi Ashley, I heard your talk on LinkedIn Learning and was hoping you could help me. Just wondering what advice you have for true multi-passionates? My friends and other people keep telling me I need to narrow down more but it's easier said than done.
I'm definitely a jack of all trades, but I wished I'd mastered or gone deep in at least one area.
The core skills set I identify most with are Words, Innovation, and Motion. I also identify with analysis up to a certain point, where I prefer a mix of practice and theory.
Core motivators I identify with are health, time, impact, self expression, but if I was being honest time would be the highest priority being a dad with 4 kids.
I normally do casual warehouse jobs but I know I could do so much more. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2018 and thought I'd have more clarity after graduating. I've since bounced around masters courses but never finishing, from accounting to applied finance, and now digital marketing analytics side by side with a master of information management (university librarian).
My goals/dreams I know without a doubt are:
Writing and publishing my own book series, Sci Fi and Fantasy, and non-fiction including self-help books and memoirs.
Training and Fighting, I definitely want to have a few more fights in boxing and MMA before my body gets too gold. We're the same age, and both true 90s kids, so I'm at what's considered the twilight years. But I know if I don't have at least a few more fights I'll regret it for the rest of my life.
Owning my own store and brand of martial arts, training, and fitness products.
    Filmmaking and Acting.
I graduated with a minor in creative writing and screen production.
I've fought a few times already and have close to 15 years of training experience and around 10 years of sparring.
I have been casually selling online since 2007, with closer to full time effort starting 2017 to 2020 before it going back to casual/side hustle again.
I'm soon to be a graded stunt performer, pending final requirements. I've also starred in short films with the lead in a few of them. Also around 3 years of experience working on film sets.
Hoping you see this and have time to reply, and I really appreciate your time if you do.
    Thanks,
    Beowolf

      Hi Beowolf,
Thanks so much for watching my LinkedIn Learning talk and for your question! It sounds like you've really experienced and learned a lot in your career so far. With so many talents and interests, I can see why you're unsure of which direction to head in. And while you may regret not pursuing on thing more deeply, I don't think you need to worry -- reflecting on your wide range of experiences will be beneficial when it comes to figuring out the area you want to focus on more going forward.
You've already begun to piece together your core skill set. Next, I would encourage you to think about your core values and core nature. What are the parts of your personality that make you who you are? How does a room change when you enter it? Asking friends or family members these questions can be particularly helpful, since, as they say, you can't read the label if you're inside the jar. You can access my free guide to help you discover your core values at this link: www.careerclaritylab.com/corevalues24607315
Also, try to get a little more specific about your core motivators. When you do, you may find that you really only prioritize just one or two. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to figure out which ones resonate with you the most:
Impact - What is a cause that means a lot to you?
Self-expression - what medium makes you come most alive?
Time - How does having additional time in your schedule impact what you create and how you thrive?
Health - How does a particular line of work impact the way you feel? And, more importantly, is this what matters most to you? In other words, how does it stack in comparison to other motivators?
Afterward, take out a pen and paper and jot down your core nature, core skill set, and core values. What career path aligns best with all three of these things? Use your core motivators to narrow this down even further. What gets you motivated more than anything else? If you're still having difficulty picking one thing, think about it this way -- what's so important to you that you need to tackle it first?
I hope this helps! If you're looking for more insight, consider checking out my book You Turn. You can listen to the first chapter for free by visiting my podcast here:

@@AshleyStahlCareers Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I'm really sorry I didn't see it sooner, I wasn't expecting a reply as it was more of a hail mary when I wrote that and UA-cam's comment reply notifications are weird. I've also switched accounts so will sub to your channel with my new/main account.
I've already saved what you wrote into my notes, and will take my time reviewing it. I'll definitely buy your book next after I've finished my current reading list.
Thank you so much again! Words can't express how much I appreciate your time and help 🙏
