- I am just starting out on Fusion so I have NO IDEA what I am doing, but this Guide might help someone else out that is also just starting.
Dave's Fusion 15 Tracking Steps:
From Resolve just click on the track you want as the background and then click the Fusion Tab
You should have the background and the output connected starting out from Resolve
Bring in your graphic or use Text+ and put that new object above the background box
Add Planar Tracker (shift + spacebar)
Connect the background and right click and connect to tracker and select “Background (region to track)”
Put on the first frame
From tracker pulldown select HybridPoint/Area
Draw around the object to track
If you are not at frame 0 then click the Set Reference button on the 1st Track page.
Track forward
Connect the text or graphic, right click the output and place inside the tracker box and select “Corner Pin 1” (If you don’t see it, click on the right dot below tracker.)
In the dropdown and select corner pin
Align the corners

great job. this is nice having someone that understand that newbies will look the video and explains all the things to do.
I love the honesty , I do the same thing to remember.
Thanks David, I have a lot to learn when it comes to Fusion.
best fusion tutorial i've found so far
Well done Dave. Great stuff. Very helpful.
I love this.. thank you, Dave!
Love this. Just what I needed for today. THANKS!
You are so welcome!
thank you. I have been looking on a tutorial like this forever
This video is a masterpiece. Thank you so much
The best tutorial
Thank you, you are great!! Very useful 👌🏻
you are welcome, glad i could help
Thank you very much very useful. Great solution
thanks for sharing Dave :)
Awesome. Thanks!
Great! What does the fusion effect look like on the edit screen? If it had it's own box then one could just pull in the corner fade handles.
If someone wants to add image without corner pins functionality to the Planar Transform, do the "Background" Node + MediaIn Node (your image) into → Merge Node → Transform Node (to reposition the image) → Planar Transform.
Good video thanks a lot. I think you don’t need to key frame anything; just overlay the fusion clip over the original one and do a cross dissolve transition to the overlay and it’ll do the trick easily.
Hello Dave, can you do surface tracking with Fusion? I mean, can you have it anchor with a lot of dots to a flexing surface?
the opacity thing, right at the beginning and ending of you clip in your edit page there is a white bar for opacity :)

You rock bro
Hey Dave , unrelated but related: how has your optimized media been in 15? I noticed other people reported in, and after thinking about it, I realized that it might have been happening to me too. Of course there are workarounds, like proxies - and relinking them, but I was curious if you've run into that
I have not been using Optimized media, my workflow on clips that have issues like GoPro 4k/60 HEVC is to turn on Node Caching just for that clip and it works great.
Really want to learn Resolve+Fusion to have a viable alternative to Adobe. I love the Creative Cloud products and owe a lot to them but the performance gains in both playback and rendering that I get from Resolve is amazing...After Effects still gives me around 20% CPU usage and single digit GPU usage. I know Adobe is slowly adding GPU acceleration and third party plugins like "Render Garden" can give you 100% CPU usage but Resolve is already there...
how they do it that swimmer cross the logo? another tracker on him?
HELP! When i change track to corner pin, one of my image's corner's goes straight to a place I can't reach with my mouse... I can't edit it.
How do i resize the image if it doesnt fit perfectly?
How do you add effects to the object? Like say some noise to blend it a bit
You could do that in the color page by adding a node.
why its moving with me all the video? any suggestions
I freakin wish there was a way to change zoom to just + and - there literally isn't
Hi Dave, you should adjust left side of your banner. Perspective is not perfect. You need to follow blue lines in the deep and not black/white/red floats.
Hey good idea, I will give that a try.
how do you open the help @ 1:51 ?
a simple document in word / writer and alt + tabbing 😉
you need to be kinder to your keyboard!!!
sorry keyboard. :)
