Are you a new subscriber? Because his actual personality reveal was back in 2013 when he started doing QnA's, and at that time, there was no character. He started this serious type character in 2019 that changed everything as that increased his channel growth tremendously as people liked that especially and mostly the newbies, and he became way more popular due to which he kept on doing it and embraced it as his on screen persona. He was at 3 mill+ subs at the time, so by no means he wasn't a small youtuber, but this really boosted his channel and career a lot. Plus, he did a personality reveal video in 2021 for the new subs as he hit 9 mill subs, but us real OG's know. Hopefully, this gave you more insight. Honestly, I miss his earlier personality as he was a bit more cheerful and joyful then, but I do love his real personality coming out here and then, and I wish he does it even more.
Ignore the stronzos! I'm a guitar player of 43 years, I'm 50 in a couple of months and you actually inspired me to teach myself how to slap the bass. Your humour has actually got me through some difficult times and I've had very serious health problems for the last few years. Keep doing what you were enjoying doing brother. Love and respect. God bless. Carlo, Liverpool, UK
@@mzinns I assume its probably do to with pacing, because speaking is hard and the pacing when speaking may not be consistent. Like if someone falls back on filler words like "uh" or "um" a lot, it can slow down the pace and/or make it more annoying to listen to. Speaking to a crowd/camera, even with a script, is hard lol
Imagine the amount of editing time that goes into this. If he doesn't have some automated micro editing tool to help with this, it could be that this video was recorded many years ago and by now he is an old guy, just done editing 😊
I honestly think you have one of the best sense of humor in the entire UA-cam. And thats why i watch you. Never slaped a bASS before and I'm not planning to, I just really like your personality, content and sense of humor. Keep on and SLAP the haters.
I can't imagine not wanting to listen to Davie talk, he's so funny and enjoyable to listen to. Just for those people who want him to get to the BASS, I hope he makes a video where he puts the audio for the bass track over the footage of him talking and puts the audio of him talking over the bass playing.
My favourite videos of yours are Ukulele Bass and the "Impossible" Deadmau5 Bass videos. I love when you make jokes and speak in your vids Davie, keep doing so please! You're a funny person :)
I remember when my mates and I discovered you back in 2018, and I loved it. It got to the point where I had a habit of slapping like on all your videos before you could have a chance to say "Why haven't you slapped like on this video yet, Slap like now!" Six years later, I'm now studying at jazz school looking to pursue a career in music. Thank you Davie504 for making videos, slapping the bass, and giving me the best instructional video on how to make a pizza!!
It was summer 2021 when i stumbled upon on of your videos when i was looking for guitar tutorials. It was the video where you covered The Lesson by Victor Wooten. I was playing guitar for 2 months on that day and when i heard you play, i got my first bass the next day and never touched a guitar again. Not because the guitar is a forbidden instrument, but because of the sound you created with those 4 thick strings just got me hooked. A couple of months later i got my first MusicMan, because i loved the sound of it, and especially your sound. I had ups and downs in my playing routine and practice but i kept sticking to it because of you. You introduced me to Flea and many others. You had a big impact on my life because you made me pick up the bass and because of it my life got filled with many great memories and i hope there are more to come. I understand that criticism can hurt, and there will always be haters. But you enrich many lifes out there with what you are doing, including mine. My life would not be the same if it wasn't for you. And i want to thank you for that. Stay funky Bro
I found you few years back on shorts and even though I never played bass, I instantly fell in love with your dry, unique humor... Watched your videos ever since and really like balance between music and comedy videos. Thank you for your hard work on the channel. Wishing you the best.
I don't play bass, I don't watch any other musician youtuber, a lot of people here are the same, we've stayed for you, your humor and because of you now for the BASS
Even though I like your bass videos, I watch you BECAUSE you talk. You have this dry sense of humor and you deliver with this deadpan expression...it's a trademark in my opinion. You make the videos YOU want to make and I think ppl will watch no matter what. I like the bass videos, collab videos, sketch videos, family videos...they're all cool. Love to you; don't listen to the haters; and stay funky bro.

The thing is I actually started watching your videos because of the skits, jokes and speaking parts. The Bass playing/music part of it was just an awesome bonus for me so I love your content.
The primary reason I subscribed to your channel years ago was due to your incredible sense of humor! The bass was just an added bonus. Please don't ever stop speaking!!
Really enjoy your style of conversation and bass playing and cooparating with other musicians all over the world from beginners to professionals. It just depresses me as a musician, never become as good as all the people in your videos. But I still try my best. ALL THE BEST FOR YOU!
The constant jumping frames of the "not edited" video is even funnier than talking about not talking! They must have spent even more time editing this than a normal video. What a wonderful, funky sense of humor!
I really liked this long-form video with minimal cuts. So much more pure and real than usual. Much respect for the raw unedited take you gave us here. Thank you for showing us what bass is actually all about.
You have a great mix. I enjoy the comments esp "Checkmate", "Slap like now", "Epico" etc and when you say "YOU!" you have catch phrases perhaps without even knowing it.
when i first saw one of your videos, it killed me! i was laughing like crazy, yes i do feel this kind of entertainment speaks probably more to musicians (beginners and intermediate as one), but yeah the receptivity of the jokes is definitely part of the joke i agree. i enjoyed the reactions and the bass battles. but probably i haven't watched enough bass solo. i just think you're awesome and keep it up, u always make me laugh! and by the way i do think that it's a very unique kind of humor and you're not like anyone else I've seen! and yes it's probably difficult to come up with new ideas (and actually make them)! but you already nailed it so many times that I'm not worried!
I love your deadpan grandiose villain humour. Love it so much. You make the best hilarious suspenseful fun story arcs. When ViolinChan came back I couldn’t stop talking to my family and friends about it - I was so excited, and the livestream was epic. And I love your bass solos for how much soul is in them - some days I’ll just play your bass solo videos over and over.
Your contribution is worldwide admired. You have made a guitarist in Greece (who thought bassists are half musicians) to actually start playing bass. Thank you for that. You changed my point of view, and now I can appreciate music more!
Please don't quit, Davide. I can see in your face that you're struggling with the negativity you're receiving. You have millions of fans, and we're all on your side. Your deadpan delivery is just the best.
Your personality seems dope as heck, I'm quite an introverted person and seeing someone who isn't always loud and stuff is such a relief on here. Please never change. ❤️
Keep fighting the good fight, Davie. I'm an older musician who remembers what life was like before social media and the internet took hold of our daily lives. I discovered your channel about 6 months ago and love what you do! Your deadpan humor always makes me laugh and your musicianship and passion for bass is something that all of us musicians out there can connect with. Thank you for making the world a brighter, funnier, more inspiring place to live in!
I love your content, and I'm always happy to see more. For things I'd like to see, I'd love to see your take on the fact that metal bands are more and more stepping into Bass' territory with 7 and 8 string guitars with downtuning.
Man! Because of you I started playing bass and tomorrow is my 3 years of bass anniversary! Changed my life! Keep doing your thing and inspire others too! I think I watched every one of your videos like 100 times! Love from Romania!!! ❤
You set a very high standard for other UA-camrs to follow. Promoting other bassists is awesome, too. Keep it going, Davide. Most of us can't get enough of your videos.
I just found you a week ago and it’s great. I love your humor and think you are doing an important thing by showcasing young bassists. Keep doing what you’re doing
Davie, for every negative comment, there's a 1000 (or more) positive ones over here. Here in the Netherlands we say 'high trees catch a lot of wind'. When you get bigger, you catch more wind. Both good and bad. You have 13,5 million (!) subscribers. Even if only 1% of these are haters, it's still 135.000 people. An entire city full of people. That's the downside of being this huge. Just keep in mind that for every city of haters, there's an entire country that absolutely loves you. Keep up the amazing work. Keep entertaining. And above all: keep talking.
might think that, but i think the jokes, the reverb when saying catchphrases, the creepy look on the camera and the unique bass style you perform either on covers, or in original songs, (the blues scale is amazing).. is the character we all loved and still, (since 2018 myself). might not impress everybody, but there are thounsands who've been and still, Great journey Davie
I remember from my Italian course there was a proverb like "asiugato una lacrima" because man I watch musicians and I watch shittalking channels and then I found you doing both and loved it. people will always crap their butt out about everything and I hope you see every positive comment as a 1000x more important. never stop being you and doing whatever you want to do, you made me laugh at times I didn't think I can laugh anymore and having left those times behind you're part of what got me through or made it better at least. much love
Hey Davie :) Last year when I started my job as a software engineer I remember telling my coworkers about my hobbies (bass obviously) and one of them brought YOU up. We all started making monotone voices saying things like "epico" and "slap" etc etc. My point is, many people respect and appreciate what you do. You're very funny and skilled individual. The people who dislike your content are not the majority, but a vocal minority. I can see you're uploading more recently and have been watching most of them when I have the time. I feel as if you never left. I started watching when I was at the start of college, but a few years later and I am still watching you. Anyways my suggestions are: More videos with your wife (the bass duets are always welcome, especially the last one), more slapp, and take breaks from videos when needed. I also see a trend of "X in the style of Y" videos that I would like the see you do (if youre interested).
I discovered you when I watched your short in 8th grade (2021), that it's about a toy plant. But then I became interested in your videos with you talking in it. It was quite peaceful and also when you put in the therapy time, I'm really happy. Also because of you, I became fascinated with bass and right now im actually studying hehe but I suck at it but i still try. Anyway, what I wanted to say is thank you because of you and your videos really help me a lot with my life especially when I was having a hard time. Love from Philippines

this should be the biggest video of the youtube music community of the year, this is insane. but also i genuinley feel where he is coming from and i just want to say that i support you davie
I believe that instrument is called six-string short scale bass over here.
I love all your videos. From a 60 year old ex-heavy metal bass player down in Australia.
I really did appreciate the "I won't cut the video that much" joke :))
cut literally every sentence XD
The micro edits are used way too much by many different creators. I don’t really understand its purpose.
@@mzinns I think one of the reasons is to cut when they inhale and exhale
Never slaped a bASS before and I'm not planning to,
I just really like your personality, content and sense of humor.
Keep on and SLAP the haters.
*sense
Yeeee
@@starsandnightvision You are right
This. Love this channel, always brings a smile to my face. Keep doing you!
I can't imagine not wanting to listen to Davie talk, he's so funny and enjoyable to listen to. Just for those people who want him to get to the BASS, I hope he makes a video where he puts the audio for the bass track over the footage of him talking and puts the audio of him talking over the bass playing.
epico
Very good idea👏👏👏
Brilliant! Meta that subversion!
OMG
I found you few years back on shorts and even though I never played bass, I instantly fell in love with your dry, unique humor... Watched your videos ever since and really like balance between music and comedy videos. Thank you for your hard work on the channel. Wishing you the best.
Honest confidence and humility is a nice blend and that's why you have so dang many subscribers everyone is proud of you
80% your sense of humor / 20% the bass. Slap on, Davie.
It's 50/50 don't underestimate his baseline 😖
May be an unpopular opinion, but it’s 69% bass and 69% humor.
Don't change a thing! Ignore haters. We enjoy your videos.
He should change clothes, at least once a day.
@@AngryKittens nah
I don't play bass, I don't watch any other musician youtuber, a lot of people here are the same, we've stayed for you, your humor and because of you now for the BASS
💯
Same
I don’t understand people leaving negative comments. If you don’t like it, there are millions of other videos on the internet. Go somewhere else.
Your jokes make my day. Your bass playing makes my musical day. Loved the duet with your wife too. Very sweet
Agree. I’m here for the faux aggressive humor.
Bass videos are ok sometimes too
I completely agree! The reason I subscribed was the variety of content that I love.
Hey Davie, Don't listen to the haters.. probably guitar players. Your content and delivery is EPIC!! Do not change man..I am currently learning Bass at 53...and I love watching you play and hearing you react to other Bass players.
All hate comments are just ppl with a life that’s so boring they have to trash on someone else’s
nah they dont have a real life lmao
@@EleanorQuestionMarkI’m basically a shut-in, with no life & I don’t insult or abuse creators. I find it really depressing to see. I’ve never understood the headspace of being jealous, cruel, constantly angry or writing out whatever comes to mind. 99.999% of the time, I’m not going to write a comment I wouldn’t say to a person’s face.
That’s also a hate comment. Don’t hate haters
I resent that. I have absolutely no life and I've never bullied Davie.
@davie504 pin this
Spongebob hanging on the door lever in the background convinced me to finally subscribe. SHLAP!
0:52 HE LAUGHED!!!! HE DID IT! I’M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!
never stop making videos davie! do whatever makes you happy. u are the reason i started to make youtube videos over 10 years ago. we need another collab with Rob scallon and more BASS Battle challenges :D i enjoy those the most. i enjoy any type of video you create.
Never stop Davie, I enjoy all your videos.
The thing is I actually started watching your videos because of the skits, jokes and speaking parts. The Bass playing/music part of it was just an awesome bonus for me so I love your content.
Ti seguo da diversi anni e non l’avrei mai fatto se non fosse stato per la tua simpatia, sei un grande ❤
You know it's serious when the video isn't 4:20
And when there's no SLAP at the end...
Especially when today is 4/20 day also...
Happy 4/20 🔥💨
Crud, I didn't think of that. You are so right.
when there's no "water" pooring down the screen when he talks about something sad
The primary reason I subscribed to your channel years ago was due to your incredible sense of humor! The bass was just an added bonus. Please don't ever stop speaking!!
"Not gonna cut this video too much". I have been bamboozled.
there is like a cut after everything he says.
@@LordPenguinVR Thanks. I didn't notice.
I love your comment ❤
_THERAPY TIME_
My favorite part of your older videos (and a more recent one)!
Always a fan, thanks for being yourself! ❤
We need therapy time back 😭 i've always looked forward to that part
yesss I miss therapy time so much
"I'm not going to cut this video too much", proceeds to cut the video at 180bpm
Love the clean channel. Music is life. Never stop playing. Keep going with your channel.
Your contribution is worldwide admired. You have made a guitarist in Greece (who thought bassists are half musicians) to actually start playing bass. Thank you for that. You changed my point of view, and now I can appreciate music more!
I really like when he laughs. I love his "serious" personality in the videos, but it's also very wholesome to see him smile.
Please don't quit, Davide. I can see in your face that you're struggling with the negativity you're receiving. You have millions of fans, and we're all on your side. Your deadpan delivery is just the best.
Davie, como um fã brasileiro de seu conteúdo: continue esse trabalho magnífico que você faz. Abraços e BASS sempre.
Your personality seems dope as heck, I'm quite an introverted person and seeing someone who isn't always loud and stuff is such a relief on here. Please never change. ❤️
I found you during covid epidemic, on your "Real personality reveal". I was moved, and I watch you ever since. Please keep doing what you do.
I’ve just posted this exact same thing. Kudos.
@@jackseph03 cheers, bro!
You set a very high standard for other UA-camrs to follow. Promoting other bassists is awesome, too. Keep it going, Davide. Most of us can't get enough of your videos.
It was definitely your humor that got me to subscribe. Like, the music is amazing, but your reactions and humor are great.
Well said! 👏👏🤘🤘
That's a brilliant saying 👍
Truth be told, I rather enjoy listening to Davie504 than many of the politicians ramble about their hollow public service promises and thoughts.
Epic comment
@@rugboy thanks my dude!
Love to see more travel videos or even reactions to other than bass. You make people smile. Do what you like man.
might think that, but i think the jokes, the reverb when saying catchphrases, the creepy look on the camera and the unique bass style you perform either on covers, or in original songs, (the blues scale is amazing).. is the character we all loved and still, (since 2018 myself). might not impress everybody, but there are thounsands who've been and still, Great journey Davie
Bro this guy doesn’t deserved to be hated he deserves to be love❤️🔥
You are doing a good job as the Top Bass Vlog and put a lot of smiles on our funky souls, even we hardly see you smiling.
I remember from my Italian course there was a proverb like "asiugato una lacrima" because man I watch musicians and I watch shittalking channels and then I found you doing both and loved it. people will always crap their butt out about everything and I hope you see every positive comment as a 1000x more important. never stop being you and doing whatever you want to do, you made me laugh at times I didn't think I can laugh anymore and having left those times behind you're part of what got me through or made it better at least. much love
You be you. I love your deadpan delivery & humour on top of your wicked bass. Ever since YT recommended me, I’ve been hooked. Keep on rockin’ dude 🤩🤩🤩
My dad introduced me to you, and if i get children i will introduce them to you too.
*CHECKMATE HATERS*
Dude! I subscribed to your channel coz of all your reactions and funny face expressions!
Not forgetting your SDAIAY intro!
I love your delivery when you are "in character". Don't change that.
Because of you I started playing bass again. And italian 😂. Much love ragazzo! 🤘😎🎸
Davie your voice is so calming, its angelic, it makes me at peace when in my darkest hour, thank you for talking.
Hey Davie :)
Last year when I started my job as a software engineer I remember telling my coworkers about my hobbies (bass obviously) and one of them brought YOU up.
Solid ideas!!!
You are the best. Love the humor and the Bass playing...you make me laugh and I really enjoy the music.
