Giltery is now my go to word to describe shiny covers for cases now! I've seen this around my local CEX store the odd time, will have to pick it up next time i see it! It does look pretty cool! I didn't even know it was a shooter! Love how you say that if the incorporate Dirge of Cerberus into the third game in the remake they'll be forced to play it, you make it sound as if it's a horrfing experience!
There's surprisingly not too much jank to this. It is a square-enix title after all. The camera has its fair share of PS2isms but its a pretty polished affair! -Bendez
The bit about old UI design really hit for me. They're not gone gone, but you don't get just simple, speedy, "clicky" menus much in big releases. Everything is an art piece for better or worse.
I never could do anything with the EX Missions growing up. I picked it up again recently and managed to beat the first one, so next time I jump in I'm gonna want to fly though those. The strategy guide said there are missions that have you playing as Cait Sith against each of the Tsviets and Vincet vs all 4 Tsviets at once. Pure Nightmare fuel
@@BackOfTheRack it just feels intimidating. I'm almost too scared to look up gameplay of it. I do really enjoy listening/watching. Especially how genuine both of your thoughts on the games are.
For me the best way to describe Dirge of Cerberus as an FF7 fan is "it's very hard to force yourself to enjoy and like this game" I tried so hard. If only the developers of Gears of War or something made this game. I just hated the shooting gameplay and environments were soooo bland and boring. They should have just made a Devil May Cry 3 game but with Vincent for Dirge and that would have been soooo much better. Heck Nomura should have used the KH2 engine and just put in Vincent for Dirge of Cerberus' gameplay. It would be a beloved classic if that happened. The graphics and music were good, CG cutscenes were nice. But the gameplay and environments.... yeah made me sad. EDIT: 1:21:20 you both agreed it should have been a DMC3 clone what a coincidence 😄
is it because its so different from ff7 or because of the story? I do agree with you especially because KH2 came out the same year. They really could've made this a really fun spin off JRPG. -sondi
@@BackOfTheRack I think it was mostly the gameplay. The combat itself needed more time. It could have been a really fun spinoff game that everyone would look back on as a hidden gem. The one complaint I always hear is the combat needed to be better. I never really had a problem with the story some Ff7 fans didn't like that it retconned some events in the timeline but I always viewed it as a spinoff. I feel like the game would have been great as a run and gun shooter more in a Vanquish style or as an action game like Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry.
My hope is that during this ff7 remake saga, they'll redo Dirge in the remake system with some more love given to Shelke and Shalua. then I think that will make a lot of people rethink their opinion on Dirge

aint nothing worse than that hold to confirm for a simple selection
The "high gothic tech" here is minimal and functional while still being super stylistic
