One of the most underrated bands ever. Check out 2x4, and Galaxie, especially the live versions from the "intimate and Interactive" play set.. just amazing. Drive is another great one. Tones of Home... Soup...Soul One....
I love this song. It's so refreshing to watch a reaction by Blind Melon that's not "No Rain". Thank you. A few more great ones by them are "Mother" "Soul One" and "Mouthful of Cavities".
The band only released two albums with Shannon Hoon (RIP). They did go on to release an album in 2008 with Travis Warren as lead singer. While no one could replace Hoon’s, Warren and the album are surprisingly good. They are still active with a loyal fan base and have released a few new singles from an upcoming 4th album. They also released a compilation album called Nico (named for Hoon’s daughter) with some unreleased tracks. Another really good song from this album is Tones of Home. Cheers!
I was very fortunate to see Blind Mellon at the Palladium theater in Hollywood not long before Shannon Hoon passed RIP!! Very fun band!!👌! Shannon had a great voice, inflection, and stage presence!!!😎✌
:) Great song! I used to put this and No Rain on repeat. The mandolin sounds so good in this song. Mandolin & Harmonica ~ I can't deny my love for their beauty. :)
Skinned , now that’s a dark song with a feel good rhythm, so about the real leather face Ed Gein! Such a twisted but another great example of taken some thing ugly and turning into something beautiful!
He was an addict and fought that battle until the day he died! He put out some of the most powerful heartfelt music and lyrics that have helped me through some tuff times! There music is so amazing it’s usually dark lyrics with feel good music! I love there sound and love every one of there songs! Jerry Cantrell said it best “ we take something that is ugly, and turn it into something beautiful “ both of these bands did that better than most in my opinion! Mad Season was another great band with layne as the frontman
Your Patreon has good taste. The entire BM debut album is excellent. Try “Holy Man,” perhaps my favorite. I didn’t think their sophomore album was up to the same quality.
Soup was definitely harder for me to get into than the first album, but as I’ve listened to it over the years, I’ve come to realize the genius behind the album. It was deeply personal to Hoon who was fighting a losing battle with his demons. Toes Across the Floor, and Mouth Full of Cavities were brilliant, and Walk can often make me emotional: “And I can’t believe that I have to bang my head against this wall again, “But the blows they have just a little more space in between them “Gonna take a breath and try, try again.” For many listener, a message of hope and determination in the middle of a shitty situation, but made bittersweet when you realize Shannon didn’t win his fight.
The first album is brilliant from start to finish. But Deserted into Sleepyhouse is a really powerful section of music. When the would do Deserted Live, sometimes Shannon and the band would tease Under Pressure as they would begin the song. Still hurts all these years later.
I saw him at Woodstock I new when he died a lot of music did I think rock would be king if all these guys lived. He wrote this as a kid before leaving home
check Toes Across The Floor off the album Soup. Dude I wish you the best and if you can react to that track by Blind Melon, that would make the hardcore fans happy I'm sure. Forgive my grammar ha
Their whole debut album is awesome and it's unfortunate that most people see them as a one-hit wonder band because of "No Rain" because most of that album is as good if not better than that song, and they have other great songs in their second album and the third one that was released after Shannon Hoon passed away.
I think he was reacting to the first few lines of lyrics. It does have a grungy vibe, but these guys are much more in the ‘dope smoking jam band’ vibe, like the Black Crowes, Sublime, Blues Traveller etc.
Mouthful of Cavities!
His voice is so unique and so expressive. Miss this dude!
I'll second that.
@@PartDistribution i'll third that 2 years too late

Don't forget the album "Nico". Shannon did 3 albums and some singles. All Great.
They also have a bunch of unreleased stuff they never put on cd that you can find here on UA-cam, and there live stuff is great!
Tones of home blind melon

I listened to this cassette over and over till it shredded itself.
Southern rock vibe 👍

This song touched me so much when I first heard it, didn’t know Blind Melon, but they quickly become one of my fav bands
Seed to a Tree. One of my favorites off of this album. Great album.
First listen. An enjoyable acoustic song. Reminds me a bit of The Black Crowes...She Talks to Angels//Hard to Handle/Remedy.
Toes Across the Floor and 2x4
WHAAAAT! One of my favorite bands! You should try dissecting their song Skinned. Also their cover of candy says is a great song

You should hear the change woodstock version . Walk is my favorite blind melon song.
If you enjoyed no rain and change, you should definitely check out Sleepyhouse!!
Shannon wrote this song when he was 17.
Good job
wanted to comment a couple things...
1st insant like and subscribe when you broke out the guitar and started playing no rain

Didn’t have the quality from start to finish like the first album, but there are great songs on Soup. Galaxie still crushes me every time I hear it.

Probably the best overall album of the 90s... at leats in my opinion. Certain the most underrated band of the 90s.
I saw him at Woodstock I new when he died a lot of music did I think rock would be king if all these guys lived. He wrote this as a kid before leaving home
Great reaction, thank you. Please check out Soul One by Blind Melon, beautiful song. Thanks again.
Definitely not grunge... I was a teenager when this came out and copied the cassette from a friend who wouldn't dare listen to grunge...
More blind melon!!!
Very very very good reaction
I would love to hear Tones of Home as your next Blind Melon reaction.
Blues!
Love the vids bro you got a new subscriber
So good and sad😂❤😢😮😮😊😅

Check out The Garden by Rush last song of last album kinda there swansong.
Do Fugazi. Waiting Room. If you haven't heard it..
at 03:16 ish you said "definitely grunge"...can you explain why you said that??

I think the way you review is great. Play the whole song out. Everyone else stops and starts
Ck out live videos
You kind of look like shannon

This is not Grunge. It is a masterpiece of a debut album. Not Grunge. No.
never ever
defiantly non grunge...
no grunge
again not grunge
Imma cut it off here, it's not grunge. You can react with your people
Bye, thanks for watching:)
Blind Melon were NOT Grunge. They were more psychedelic southern rock, blues, and just a very all around talented band.
