What a super rare operating locomotive. Thank you to all the wonderful people who spent their time getting this ole girl running again. FYI PIKO just came out with a Whitcomb 65 in HO scale.
She´s quite a good smokebox if you have fish or meat to being seasoned, that only railfans would love that particular flavor.... Thanks for that video and excellent volunters works. Good description even if more on that particular loco would have been great.
I remember in the late 80's adding shingles to the roof of that trolley barn with old man Bill, William Brandt Sr, William Brandt Jr, and assorted other volunteers.
It's so awesome to see both of these rare finds at the museum! I'm not terribly familiar with Whitcombs; are they supposed to smoke that much? I mean, not even an ALCO puts out that much! 😅
In Europe the locomotive cab has switches for the ETCS European Positive train control German and Austrian Punktförmige Zugbeeinflussung Dutch ATB Automatische Treinbeïnvloeding Italian SCMT RS4 if Main Line certified.
Many were built for the U.S. Army for use in Europe both during and after the 2ed world war. Some stayed in Europe others were brought back state side. But for the most part many were also sold as export to Europe too.

One of the engines seems a bit smokey....?

Classic beauty of a machine but, of course, environmental activist would likely have a hissy-fit seeing the amount of exhaust she's emitting.
