- Hi! My name is Ashley. Welcome to my channel! :-) I purchased some new recorders, which to properly break in, I should only be playing for shortish amounts of time (at first). I thought, "What would be a fun AND interesting song to work on?" How about a beeboppy jazz standard like... I dunno... "Donna Lee?" What would it sound like on my bass recorder?! 😅

Well, it was a bit more of a challenge than I anticipated, but it got me playing over the full range of the instrument. Them high notes definitely got a work out and the recorder is definitely broken in! 💪😉 Anyway, here is "Donna Lee" on BASS recorder (which I think sounds stinkin' cool). Niiice! Big bebop fan here. If you want something less jumpy to also appreciate the depth of an instrument can recommend something from Parker's with the strings like "Everything happens to me"

Hey im pretty impressed...first for your passion in playing so many instruments. You must be a teacher ...i thought the bass recorder was lower in tone...its an expensive instrument. Do you have any traditional recorder pieces you could play like a four part harmony with recorders??
