I just loved your video regarding USMLE journey and resources, I came to your videos regarding Kaplan, as I have less time to prepare for my exams and I was searching for the best resources in a less time. I saw couple of recommended videos regarding resources; in between I couldn't resist myself to pause and comment. I really felt your video was like customized for me. Very impressed and felt motivated with it. I am a beginner.
Sarangi thank you for taking the time to comment, you honestly made my day! I hope I can continue to make videos that you will find useful. Good luck on your exam, I am rooting for you 🤞
You're very welcome. It's very easy to get overwhelmed I know. My advise would be to keep it simple and whatever you do use, know it 1000%. You got this 👍
I started studying for step 1 for the past 43 day I’m going to take the exam in January/February 2022 My resources are : Video lectures: -Board and beyond -pathoma -sketchy Qbank: -Amboss -uworld Flashcards Zanki step 1 Best of luck
Thanks for letting me know it was useful. Make sure you do lots of research, but remember the best study plan is one you stick to, and stay consistent! Good luck on your preparation, I wish you luck on your journey 🌱
Please make a video about how to get research paper published for USMLE. How I can I start . Where I can get published easily. If you have done any talk about that also.
I can't really talk about that because honestly that is something I don't have much experience with, but I will be trying to get some publications this year - Ill post a video if I manage to make it happen!
Thank you so much for this videos! What do you recommend for beginning, pre-dedicated, material studying source other than UW, Pathos and such. is B&B is better then USMLE-Rx?
Thanks so much, I appreciate that a lot! I really relate, biochem is a huge weakness of mine. My current plan is to watch boards and beyond biochem and just smash practise questions on Uworld and hope something sticks haha! Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Hey bro, you're welcome, I hope it was useful. I think bnb is great if you have a weak base knowledge. I only used it to shore up my weaker areas, rather than watching every video.
Thank you so so much I really needed this and I will be starting internship now and was thinking about also beginning preparations for step 1. I am just curious that is it okay to read these 4 resources or do we need to thoroughly read our basic books again
Sir .I'm in 1st year...and 3 month passed my session has started so...fr for how long I meant month should I take subscribtion fr pathoma , sketchy, bnb, n anking
Hi Cheragh, pathoma is a video lecture series that only covers pathology. Although I personally believe that it sets you up well for those other subjects, it certainly does not have the detail to answer more in depth biochemistry, or physiology questions.
When you say start UWORLD asap do you mean along side studying from the resources we do qbank same time? I want to do this but I am not sure if you mean use qbank asap when you start preparing for USMLE or few months after starting preparing for USMLE Wouldn’t we run out of questions and memorise the answer? I would really appreciate your reply since your video is the only video that has made sense so far 💙
First of all thank you for commenting, I really appreciate it ❤️ regarding your question, I believe it depends where you are in your journey. If youre a third year you should start questions when you start preparing for USMLE. If youre earlier you probably dont have enough knowledge yet to do a qbank so I would study for your medical school exams using first aid/anki. Never worry about running out of practise questions! There are a tonne of qbanks (uworld, amboss) which are almost impossible to finish in the time you have, so just start right now, even if its 1 question a day 😊
hey I'm a first year student from India.. here in the first year our subjects are anatomy, physio and biochem.... would you recommend getting any material to start the prep in first year itself? If not when should I start and with what specific resource... thank you!
If you want something to start out with, Kaplan is a good idea. Don't make the mistake of studying for Step 1 too early in your medical journey. Get a solid foundation in the basics first!
It depends! I actually switched from zanki to anking a few months ago and I do not regret it! The anking made a great video on how to update your anki, you should check that out.
I used them a bit while studying for my Uni exams, but I didnt like them for step. Much prefer a good video resource like BnB + an easy qbank like USMLE rx to start with.
Kaplan is quite popular, but personally I really like boards and beyond. If you can combine that and use an easy qbank like USMLE Rx to learn the content you will do really well. Graduate to Uworld once you get through Rx.
@@ChrisQuelch Kaplan is good but wayyy too detailed, I’d only recommend it for those that reallyyy need to start from ground 0. Since he said it was someone who barely has any base knowledge, that’s why I said Kaplan. I’ll be starting B&B next month so until then, I’ve heard good things about it but yet to use it myself
I know plenty of good pharm textbooks, but honestly for Step 1 you should stick to the high yield. Do sketchy pharm and know it like the back of your hand. Support with Uworld questions.
IMO First year is very early to start focusing on high yield, make sure you build a solid base physiology, pharmacology, microbiology etc. before you consider that stuff. You will save time in the long run if you have SOLID fundamentals.
There are many like us! I would love to be able to bring together a community of IMGs with these videos, so we can help and support each other. Even though we are from all corners of the globe, we all have the same dream, so we should work together 😃 I wish us both luck for January! 🤞
Isn't obvious that resources by the people who author the USMLE should be number one if not exclusive resource to prepare for Step 1? NBME writes USMLE and common sense would dictate the NBMEs resources are fundamentally important.
Hey man, I see where youre coming from, but everyone I have heard talk about the exam says that the Uworld qbank most accurately represents the test. Youre right though, I haven't emphasised the importance of self assessments in my videos, I will make sure to do so in the future!
legit best video for anyone feeling lost and not knowing how to start
Thanks Hamzeh! I really appreciate you going out of your way to let me know 😊 Hoping to give back more USMLE study tips soon so stay tuned!
@@ChrisQuelch please do!
Also if you have any tips on balancing USMLE studying and clinical studying that would be great 😋
@@ChrisQuelch did you pass the step 1?
This is the most explained video I have seen, since I started gathering info for usmle 🥺. Thank you ❤️
