After 6 games of the 2020/21 season AC Milan sit at the top of Serie A. The Italian league was tipped to be wide open this year, with Pirlo’s transition at Juventus, Conte’s rise at Inter, entertaining Atalanta, Napoli’s strong start to the season and Lazio securing a Champions League spot last time out. But it is Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan who is leading the pack.
What’s different about Milan this time out? What convinced the club to give their interim manager more time? How are they utilising 39 year old Ibrahimovic?
    Alex Stewart finds out.

Dear Tifo, it is a dream come true that you've made a video about Pioli's Milan. I am a big fan of both your Channel and AC Milan, and waking up to see this in my notifications was like a child unwrapping his Christmas presents. Like all other videos this channel produces, I loved this video, because its well made and exciting, and the effort you've put into research can clearly be seen in the marvelous details that are in the video; they are also well introduced.
I am a big fan, please keep up the big work ❤ (p.s I've only woken up, and I don't know if I've written anything badly, but it comes as a pure appreciation to your work :))

There was a lot of uncertainty around that time when he was leaving United. Man United weren't sure how much he would be able to offer post knee injury and they parted ways. Ibra knew he could play well again, but was certainly unsure about his future as well. That type of knee injury could end most careers, but he is Zlatan. - "The 12th man": how have the closed doors games affected the sides that usually get huge support from the stands
    - Why (and how) does Bundesliga improve players physically and tactically so much
    - Why is PL the only big league which didn't keep the 5 subs per game formula

Do a video on Ruben Amorim's Sporting CP. They are currently leading in Portugal's Primeira Liga. Undefeated, 6 wins in 7 matches and 19 goals scored to only 4 conceded. How after a catastrophic training ground invasion by a group of masked men which resulted in multiple players resigning/leaving the team, Sporting is finally on the rise again after acquiring Ruben Amorim from Braga for a total of 10 Million euros (now well above 12 M after missing the deadline in payments) one of the highest manager fees ever. Sporting changed their system to a 3-4-3 and with the addition of a few of Primeira Liga's best young players last season they are now at the top of the league for the first time in 4 years.

Thank you! I really enjoyed the video, you took a clear picture of how they act when in possession - this was actually a great intuition by Coach Pioli and what allows the team to create loads of chances. Rotations is also a concept they are increasingly implementing (yesterday against Hellas they did it a lot).
Another aspect that I consider very interesting is linked to forwards' characteristics and also to new signigns, all of them have 1 thing in common - ambidextrous and/or comfortable playing in different areas. It allows the team to create danger to the oppositions in multiple areas and raises unpredictability.

If there is 1 team I fear in Italy just on the basis of their tactical strength and tactical flexibility, it is Stefano Pioli's AC Milan. I feel like Lampard would struggle to beat this team.

in terms of strenght is not too much but in tactical flexibility i agree totally cuz the wingers move every front of attack and some times leao or salaemaekers move to the area to support ibra so calhanoglu moves to left or right to help either calabria or theo . Milan today is a great team

Very good video and analysis, but you didn't talked about the most important player: Kessie.
When the opposite team has the ball Kessie is the one that owns the midfield together with Bennacer, and brings the ball back to AC Milan and is able to protect it and give it to the wings or Chalanoglu. This is the biggest problem for the opponents. Against Lille (where Milan lost 3-0) there was Renato Sanches and a lot of strong midfielders who challenged AC Milan's midfielders and made them suffer for the first time on this season! That wasn't the only reason why they lost, but it contributed.

i think the most notable thing is that most players such as conti, calabria, calhanoglu, kessiè and others were playing so bad before pioli, the club was even considering on selling kessiè and one between conti and calabria but pioli made them milan's permanent starters. idk what he studied during lockdown but it's working

So interesting that this was done using spezia as an example. A team that just showed up a huge flaw in our team set up. Why do we get overwhelmed by the press?

It is an interesting evolution for Pioli, when he managed Chievo and Bologna a decade ago he was mostly known for super boring, safety-first football. Then he went on to manage a host of other clubs and seems to have shifted his perspective with those experiences.
Milan too keep evolving. A year and a half has passed since this video was posted, Kessie will soon be gone while Bennacer, Kjaer and Saelemakers have played less important roles this season. But others have picked up the workload.

I would dig a video on Jim Curtin's Philadelphia Union's tactics this season, as they just won the supporters shield, with young American, Brendon Aaronson as a central piece before he makes his move to RB Salzburg. I think they do some really interesting things their midfield diamond.

Milan fan here and been watching all their games. You picked up a tactic of switching plays, which I did not notice and found interesting. I thought it is common in other teams? Or does this team do it differently, and how so?
Anyway, thank you for this video.

pioli initially tried 4-4-2 and 4-4-1-1, they didn't had much positive results. And pioli went to 4-2-3-1 when he bought saelemakers, KJÆR and gave rebić chance to play every match, Even though they lost to Genoa (2-1), inter (4-2). But all the players made good use of lockdown holidays. That is when Milan's winning streak started.

While I do agree that Pioli has moved the needle of fortunes forward... I do also believe that Zlatan plays a giant role in that moving of fortunes as well simply because he's brought back that winning mentality that Milan is known for.. however Pioli isn't perfect and frankly I felt Rangnick would've been better but that's just me...

Me as a milan fan having been through the banter era, promised after promised, I remember we were going to have promised superstar player like :
    Francesco Acerbi
    Andrea Poli
    Riccardo Saponara
    Bryan Cristante
    Marco Van Ginkel
    Andrea Bertolacci
    Hachim Mastour
    Manuel Locatelli
    Luiz Adriano
    Valter Birsa
    Mattia de Sciglio
    Mbaye Niang
    Jherson Vergara
    Rodrigo Ely
    Andrea Petagna
    Mattia Destro
    Gianluca Lapadula
    Patric Cutrone
    Stephan El Shaarawy
    Andre Silva
    Nikola Kalinic
    Kevin Constant
We were think that we are like Arsenal, producing such a young talent. But today, i have seen such a spirit of play, a strong mentality is coming back again. No matter how you play, good or bad. Since the zlatan effect, with all the young players, we can produce such a promising player again. I hope it become the point of the golden era

Zlatan is beyond incredible but Milan was doing well (expecially at the end of last season) even without him.
With Rebic at striker their play was faster than this year's, then Rebic got injured and Zlatan regained the God status

    • @jaminmambo8303

@@DisagioAbbestia yes they did(do well that is), but playing Rebic as the primary striker he has struggled and he plays his best football coming from the left or playing as the secondary striker. But yes in Zlatans absence Milan did quite well for themselves.
