One thing I like about this is that it almost sounds like an organic lifeform wailing in horror. The Combine is basically one enormous super-organism with integrated species acting as its executive functions and a near omniscient AI (Overwatch) to regulate its autonomic functions. It calls rebellious/non-compliant components "malignant" and to be "amputated". All this means that the mere sight of Gordan Freeman inspires terror, as he is an entity too small to keep perfect track of, too fearless to intimidate, and has existed external to the Combine machine for his entire life up until now, and so is the only person who is not part of the collective of humanity seen and counted after the 7-hour war and thus is the only person who essentially isn't from the same world as everyone else. He is creative, intelligent, motivated, fearless, and is willing to sacrifice himself to kill the Combine, so is in a sense irrational in a way that the Combine doesn't know how to cure. He is, unlike the citizens, referred to as "individual". As silly as it sounds, the Combine fear the One Free Man because as a super-organism, they can't comprehend him. The CPs might see him as a man in an orange suit, but the Combine views him as an incomprehensible terror that can dodge every means of coercion that worked on his fellow human, and can often-times fight the Combine on their soil, but always on HIS terms. That is why the Combine can defeat a collective of billions but can't face one individual.

oh yeah but thing is the black mesa event already happened, which already killed like 2 billion. The portal storms and stuff. And then this? 6 billion dead all together. Less than 1 billion humans left alive 250 million+ converted into combine workers
The continuation of the human species rests in the hands of the Universal Union, it is up to us to maintain the bonds that hold us together, do your part in taking our species to the stars

Reminder that we didn't truly defeat the Combine. Yes we closed the portal, yes there is now a limited number of Combine on Earth. But what we have seen is not even the tip of the iceberg. To call what forces we see as the tip is a terrible understatement. The Combine is called the Universal Union for a reason, cause they have conquered entire universes. They have enslaved and harnessed countless races. The Advisors, at least in lore made by former Half Life devs, are not the Masters of the Combine. They are simply another race they have captured, brainwashed and experimented on to turn them into mindless drones. The Striders, the Gunships, the Dropships, all once creatures the Combine captured and turned into weapons with no free will. The forces we see on Earth are nothing compared to the Combines full might. Remember the Combine is the one the Nihilanth in the first game was running from. It wasn't invading Earth cause it was truly evil, it was doing it so it could hide from the Combine. And we saw how powerful the Nihilanth was, it could control teleportation at will, and all kinds of things. And even it's entire species was probably captured and enslaved, maybe even just killed off, and the one we face is the last of his kind. Remember one of his lines is "their slaves...we are their slaves..." So yeah the Combine is terrifying. They are implied to control countless universes, to have conquered countless races and worlds. Which only makes it all the more impressive that Gordon did what he did. He was the catalyst that brought down the Citadel. But he did not defeat the Combine. They are still out there on their homeworld, and even if we somehow destroy their world there is likely countless other worlds they completely control. And also we have no seen the true face of the Combine. We still have no idea who or what started the Combine, we know nothing about the Masters so to say. Just that whoever they are they are powerful. And even they know of the G-Man. For one Breen in Half Life 2 alludes to the G-Man when you are in his office at the end of the game. Implying that the Combine know about him, and of course Half Life: Alyx straight up tells us that the Combine know of G-Man Spoilers for those that haven't seen or played the game. But at end of Alyx we discover that the one the Combine have imprisoned in the Vault, is G-Man. And the fact that they were able to imprison him at all is terrifying, still there is implication that the G-Man let himself be captured. Either way the Combine is to he feared. Cause if the portal to their world should ever be opened again they will likely show no mercy. They will likely unleash everything they have, or maybe even just drop a weapon on Earth that can kill everyone on it. So yeah, fear the Combine.
@@Espartanica it is. I think ive already answered you in an other thread but in one of his speech, dr Breen states "The Universal Union that small minds calls the Combine"
@@Zaher74 It's not. The term wasn't even capitalized. It's never used anywhere else. The writers forgot they even used the term. It's calling the Combine a Universal Union in the same way as someone would call the USA a Country. Doesn't mean the USA is CALLED country.

that's really a nightmare just imagine everyone thought it was China fighting us but seven hours later you just hear that and then realize your entire home planet was captured and overthrown by the combine, you'd also feel the air holding onto you feeling like some invisible force was just holding you like a hug, as you see soldiers on the ground dead 4 billion humans dead and the anthem kept playing as its the combines victory, you see robotic machines and that's it, you just sit to think why over and over.
oh yeah but thing is the black mesa event already happened, which already killed like 2 billion. The portal storms and stuff. And then this? 6 billion dead all together. Less than 1 billion humans left alive 250 million+ converted into combine workers

GLORY TO THE UNION RAHHHH 🙋
Glad to see the Combine recognize themselves as the bad guys with the anthem
Whole world: oooh noooo
Bahamas and Antarctica:
antarctica probably melted from the combine's intensive harvesting of ressources, the earth probably doesn't even look like that anymore
Remember one of his lines is "their slaves...we are their slaves..."
So yeah the Combine is terrifying.
Implying that the Combine know about him, and of course Half Life: Alyx straight up tells us that the Combine know of G-Man
Spoilers for those that haven't seen or played the game.
So yeah, fear the Combine.
you are right
But what if we use all of the earth’s resources to clone *the individual Gordon Freeman* multiple times
