I grew up in the town just before Homeland. Fort Meade. I had family that lived in Homeland. On the other side of that intersection the a bigger cemetery called the Homeland Cemetery. My grandparents, Aunts and Uncles are buried out there. Loving these roadside videos.
Amazing! Thank you for posting this because I actually live in Homeland! 😂 It’s a very small interesting rural area. Lots of history. If it weren’t for the cars & semi’s trucking through it would be deafening quiet. When I first moved here I was washing dishes, looked out of the kitchen window and saw the neighbors walking their pigs on leashes. Had to do a triple take lol The post office is cute, efficient and an added plus, no waits. Their delivery is FAST! The Orange Blossom Honey locally grown is delicious (And pay by honor system) Also an event to maybe check out would be The Alafia River Rendezvous which happens here in Homeland up on the hill in late January (largest pre-1840s encampment).
The old towns are very interesting, love old architecture and always fascinated that these old , simplistic buildings have lasted so long in this Florida environment. They really knew how to build things to last. Definitely have my vote to keep exploring the old towns, :)
I drove Flatbed 18 wheeler out of Tampa Fl back in the 90's .I ran a 48,500 pound load of sheetrock from Port Tampa to a warehouse in that little town of Homeland ..A Cool little town
I think that is so neat, someone from the mid west taking interest in the old Florida! I was partially raised in Fla. until my folks decided to move back to N.C. A lot of good memories living in Flagler Co.
I love these videos. Being a Central FL resident it gives me ideas of places to go. I've already mapped out where that honey stand is to visit next time I go to Bartow. Keep up the great work.
I really love your Florida Roadside Attractions and Abandoned Places series. I was a little concerned about you wandering out so far on that boardwalk, but when I was your age I was adventurous like that also and would have done the same thing wanting to know where it led to. Keep making videos like this because it is important not to forget the history of these places.
we like your videos and how you present your videos of older towns across fla .... we are not too interested in movie locations but can see why some fans like those ... keep up the good work
Found an old body shop 4 yrs ago on 41 and 52 ..in pasco county it was bought by PAW..inc i explored it today in 2023 its now gone..torn down..at the crossroads they call it.. i love old abandoned gas station s...good exploring in fl and ga..i did bye the old inground lift. At the place this yr..in jan 2023 before the place was torn down..
I love these videos of time forgotten. It's sad to me that they are in such disrepair. But I am thankful that you and others find them and document them. Thank you my friend, and please be safe out there! God bless ❤️ 🙏 ❤️
We live next door to Martin’s Grocery in Homeland, and I think we met you when you were recording! Should have told me, I would have let you into the building lol
Jay, I can’t believe you missed the 38-star flag hanging in the old schoolroom. Nice tour of out-of-the-way places. That would help date that classroom.
Great videos thanks for taking this subtrip to all these florida attractions.. But that boardwalk you're on, they sure have let that go bad. The city ought to be ashamed themselves... Other than that, great videos. Keep up the good work... Thanks for showers around florida..
HEY,... TAMPA JAY & CIRS The Girl. Well Just wanted to say thank you for all the awesome videos I Really appreciate and enjoy your videos of just cruising around on the back roads so Great 👍 OK guys keep The video's coming out take care stay safe and will see you on soon....Yes because there's always so much ahead
I enjoy your roadside attractions series. I get to go to places that I otherwise would not see. I really enjoy Chris the girl too. Keep up the good work!
Be careful out there Jay! That boardwalk through the swamp looks like where that lady had a Florida Panther run past her! Quiet and peaceful but also looks like where they dump the bodies!
Thanks for the memories Jay. Haven't been down that way in 25 years or so. Like someone mentioned I always remember calling it Home-Lin. Great bass fishing in that area. Even remember a lake being called "Million Dollar Lake" (or something like that) because one of the phosphate mines got too close to the peace river and the river filled up the hole. They fined the mine a million dollars which is how it got its name.
Yes! old abandoned Florida and cemetery content is my favorite! My great grandfather was a "Raulerson" and was born in Polk county. I didn't know about this park 👍 very cool!
I like how you randomly found these interesting things and even made a new kitty friend! I never would have thought that huge walkway would be out there too bad the hurricane messed it up some. That was a pretty Church!
As an avid explorer myself, I’m loving your Road Side videos! You’re doing an amazing job. Let me know if you ever wanna visit a cemetery in the middle of no where called Bull Creek Cemetery
I love your blogs, Jay! You’re doing exactly what I’ve always wanted to do. And I’ve done a lot of exploring in my 68 years. Thanks you for these fun videos.
Keep these going, Jay. I hope that as more people become aware of our home State's history, things will get better in the preservation department. The boardwalk is heartbreaking!!!!! When it's wet season, a couple of years ago it was amazing!!! Hopefully Polk County will fix it soon!!!
I love the old towns, the awesome history of the old church. Florida has some beautiful places. I hope you do more of these places. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe..
So many cool things to see in this sweet little town. We love how much reverence you always pay at the small town cemeteries. Also, DJ Kitty for real!! It was too cute watching him follow you on camera!
I am born and raised in Arizona, As a kid in school, we went to that town you were talking about, pioneer village or whatever they call it here for field trips.
I love all your videos. I started watching yours when you and Adam the Woo went to Ray's games. And have been watching them ever since. In fact, you guys have made me a Ray's fan. I'm from Colorado and not a Rockies fan. So can't wait to see Ray's play Rockies here in Denver. Thanks again for your videos!
Wow Jay such a cool video! I love these historic roadside attractions, they show the real Florida. Through your videos I get to see & learn about the hidden gems like this one.
I really enjoy your outings. I was born in Tampa in 1961 and still live here. I recently found out that I am related to Mel Tillis and the Tillis family. He was from Plant city and the original Tillis people lived in central Florida as ranchers and farmers. During the second Seminole war one of the family members was shot by the Seminoles. I’m sure Mary Tillis is a relative. Thanks again for discovering these wonderful places.
Thank you for sharing. I love road trips, however haven't been doing any for a while... hopefully next year I can do some road travel❤!Unbelievable stuff you learn and people you meet when on the road! Old cemeteries, schools, landmarks, abandoned holes, stores and awesome architecture ...
Watched some older videos in the past but subscribed today. enjoy all these videos. My grandson was in school at the IMG academy near Tampa so I live in Sebastian, Fl and have drive through some of those roads. Ted in Sebastian, Fl.
Yes this is the second time I've watched the video and really enjoy it I came to Florida in January of 1972 and I don't like the way things are going is too many people here it's too crowded I can't remember when's the last time I saw an orange growl when I first came there all over the place I'm 73 now and I need to get app and travel right here in Florida is planning to say I'm originally from Connecticut and I could sit upload on my home and I want to be buried here keep app the good work
Hi Jay!🙋 Love history of places. Yes it does look like texas chainsaw house. 😮 Kitty is so adorable. Beautiful buildings. Boardwalk area is beautiful but sad the condition of it. Awesome video. Have a great day.
I've noticed lately that you're adding more music over parts, like in your intro to this one. I like that! It inspires me to keep attempting to do that with mine...It can be frustrating trying so hard to get the right music to invoke the right emotion (while also avoiding copyright claims)...but then seeing videos that don't use music at all & thinking, "Well they're getting views anyway...Maybe I shouldn't bother either?" But the music adds to the experience. Also (& this one is really random) love that you mentioned Mel Tillis. Not long before he passed, he performed for awhile at the theatre I was working at. Brings back some funny memories (...Most of which are...um...probably not PG rated enough to add to this comment)!
I’ve always put music in these types of videos but I’ve been putting them out more lately . I really appreciate you thank you so much it means so much to me
I've never did much traveling my father had gotten sick after my mom died and he didn't want to go anywhere else just to the doctor but now he's gone I'd love to have a traveling companion to see and do something like this...... what a pretty kitty he looks just like a stray that I feed..... March 11 that's my birthday 🎂... I'd be Born on yrs later
I was born in poke county close to where this is. Every year thay have a rendezvous a reenactmentof life before 1842 right there in that town you should check it out. Thank you for takeing me "home" again

I grew up in this town. Loved across the street from the big building by the post office. That use to be a meat market. Thanks for sharing.

The old towns are very interesting, love old architecture and always fascinated that these old , simplistic buildings have lasted so long in this Florida environment. They really knew how to build things to last. Definitely have my vote to keep exploring the old towns, :)
Thank you Elyse!
Loved the Heritage Center and the boardwalk stroll, obviously needing some TLC. Hope the black and white cat had a caregiver there at the park.

In an otherwise booming Polk County,it's cool to find these nearly deserted places.
