Never fails, you go to any metal show and someone always yells slayer. I heard people yell that when I saw alice in chains and pearl jam back in 91. funny stuff. love slayer
point of triggers is that when your kicks start getting to a really high speed, they start losing power so what the trigger does is it takes each stroke on the bass drum and plays a midi sound so that all the kicks are at equal volume
yeah, this guy definetly has pretty natural volume, he could get some pretty good sound out of the drums without any triggers, unlike many metal drummers.
there are several reasons to use triggers. one can be that a drummer wants a certain sound. another is that at super high speeds without triggers it would just sound like noise and the samples that are used with the triggers help define each note which is really important for recording and everything. consistency is another reason triggers are used. derek roddy has a really good explanation about triggers
@DreamTheater4life I could be wrong, but I believe that Hannes only did the samples for Epitaph. I believe that both Necrophagist albums have had programmed drums.
@eddief60 and by the way. haanes grossman did the drums for epitaph. marco has never recorded with them. romain will be recording their next record most likely
@DreamTheater4life...those videos are both different this is a song they both know VERY well marco prolly made the drum beats 4 the song so he would have had no trouble with this song aswell...as for the other video it was improv so he was just having fun getting into it, so its no comparison show me a romain solo and then well see whos better
@ liquidknowledge He's probably listening to some self help tapes or audio books, he doesn't even have to concentrate on what he's playing. He's had those phones for ages, some say they have magical properties..........
but remember one thing... trigger got nothing to do with speed. speed depend on how fast the drummer could go, trigger juz level up the volume level...
ok so im not tryin to bash goulon at all, cause obviously hes a top notch drummer to say the least. but i gotta say i enjoyed watching hannes play with necrophagist more than both romain and marco. anyone feel the same way? maybe im crazy
Yeah man, chill out, he was only pointing something. I find double-foot blast more precise and usefull and not so agressive to stamina, althoug it takes more time to improve it, but hey its my opinion, so its normal that people comment about it. Go, Romain, excellent subtitute for Minnemann or Hannes.
obviously your not a drummer, yes trigg only regulate the volume of the hit, but when you just have to "kiss" the head with the hammer, your technique will slowy change to be very different, triggs and no triggs are two different techniques, trigg user at faster speed will mostly strike with their ankle giving them lots of speed and its the most technical way IMO but lots of drummer just use their legs to hit harder, no triggs, obviously this demands more endurance but feels more organic and raw
Yes, im glad someone understand I hate how all these people dont understand what triggers are. Im currently arguing with someone on a different video because he thinks you only play half of the beats when you use triggers LOL.
Sorry I was just generalizing my comment about that issue, I would have used your name if I was directing right at ya. Just so many people stuck on that mentality it sets me off. Its all good not I wasn't attacking you.
Hahaha, "wanna be death metal"?! hahaha you gotta be fucking kidding me, Necrophagist are probably the most technical, and one of the best Death metal bands, man. You dindt saw them live, cmon. That, or you just like U2.
This guy is an absolute machine, note perfect
this song called "Cell Phone"
Wkwkwkwkwkw
Jajajaja
One of the best extreme metaldrummers to date!
Damn impressive!!!

This put such a huge smile on my face
Necrophagist is one of the best Death Metal bands out there, awesome band!. And romain is an awesome drummer! Great job!
he put his sticks down at the end like they were too hot to hold...
they probably were close to burning
it is so sick..best drummer in the world
As far as I've heard, Romain has pointed out that the headphones he's using is for the bass drums, so that he can hear them clearly.

exactly right, and also at his speeds most acoustic drums wind up being a big wall of bass instead of defined notes.
suicmez sounds so badass, both in growl and in regular speaking voice
Romain at his best
STTAAAAAAAAAAABBWOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNDD!!!
This band was absolutely fucking ridiculous!
AWESOME!!! Congratulations for your work my friend!

@DreamTheater4life
I could be wrong, but I believe that Hannes only did the samples for Epitaph. I believe that both Necrophagist albums have had programmed drums.

the song is called stabwound
@eddief60 and by the way. haanes grossman did the drums for epitaph. marco has never recorded with them. romain will be recording their next record most likely

Screaming "SLAYER" at a Necrophagist should be illegal

is this guy better then tim yeoung and lord marco?
What the snare of romain g use?
He should have been the main actor in " I, robot "...
dude gotz madd skillz....U sure his Name isnt Roland? LOL cause he has got the damn time of a drum machine.
@ElementStorms yea that makes more sense, they're like at the same skill level i think.
and keeps every note consistent if you set it up thaat way or changes the sound of the bass drum
@torlent Yeaaa, i agree, and it also makes the sound tighter, and that is not cheating, its good that there are people who agree on this =)
@ liquidknowledge
He's probably listening to some self help tapes or audio books, he doesn't even have to concentrate on what he's playing.
He's had those phones for ages, some say they have magical properties..........
@ElementStorms yea.... romain wins.... like, alot.
you can hear the metronome
but remember one thing... trigger got nothing to do with speed. speed depend on how fast the drummer could go, trigger juz level up the volume level...
ok so im not tryin to bash goulon at all, cause obviously hes a top notch drummer to say the least. but i gotta say i enjoyed watching hannes play with necrophagist more than both romain and marco. anyone feel the same way? maybe im crazy
i agree but marco and romain are both amazing but yes i agree with that
Travis barker left the Group...
@eddief60 a groovy solo from romain: watch?v=UDDFKu9Y8mc
a metal solo from romain: watch?v=_tVauJHLESg
hahaha :)
im not sure, but i think he has like a metronome sound going.
what's real death metal then so I can check it out?
That's what I said.
For the bass drums...
Fastest stabwound ive ever heard..... is $35 really worth seeing them live in florida tho?
300.
Yeah i'd say so.
His style is alot like Krimhs
Yeah man, chill out, he was only pointing something. not even sweating.....when i did have speed, i would lay down in michael jacksons oxigen tank.....
midi trigger, thats not his actual bass drum sound

No.
his timing is perfect ...this guy shits on Roddy IMO
marco minneman is a better overall drummer buh romain goulon is better in death metal.
Hahaha, "wanna be death metal"?! hahaha you gotta be fucking kidding me, Necrophagist are probably the most technical, and one of the best Death metal bands, man. You dindt saw them live, cmon. That, or you just like U2.
dude...don't like the band=don't watch the video+don't comment the video+don't insult the band.
fool
marco minneman is better and hes the old drummer b4 this guy
