Just used this video to practice a combo in training mode then after like an hour I went online and actually pulled it off. Big thanks for making this, I feel like I can actually play a fighting game now!

why did they decide to leave out a mission mode for combos? I used to use that feature to learn a lot about characters, their moves and set ups
It's less that they "decided to leave it out" and more "they literally couldn't finish it in time for release." It's going to be patched in for free down the road.
@@KashKey- this is wrong as they said they'll be adding a combo recording system so you can download other people's combos to practice doing.

Just started playing this game, first 2D fighter like this that I’ve ever played and this combo video has started to get me used to the inputs and get used to combos and such, thank you!! Great vid.

They should all work, I just did them in training myself after picking up Strive on sale for Black Friday. You were making sure to do them on Counter where necessary yeah?

@@alowbudgetharrypotter4068 Check the stamps in the video timeline it mentions whether it needs counter or not. Otherwise just keep a close eye on the opponent to see if it needs counter
@Nightfall the first combo, P, P ,stun edge, I cant get to combo. Any advice on that one? Does it still work? Thx again for the advice on counter hit btw.
@@alowbudgetharrypotter4068 If I remember correctly it's just about timing. You get close enough to hit both P's then input the Quarter Circle during the punch animation

Im new to fighting games and struggling performing the direction button swipes(down to right/left, 180degree angle etc) x.x really want to get these done cz the game looks so much fun
Beginner timing tips for the combo at 4:46:
-After you roman cancel, you input dash and wait until the clock disappears from the enemy to land 5HS.
-to land the last vapor thrust you must wait until the opponent starts spinning (after hitting opponent with the 5HS).
Is the combo still true in the current version? I'm currently attempting it with your advice but not having any luck , unless I am just screwing up the time
@@jtnicholson3483 yes brother, the combo is still true, i wrote the comment after finally getting the combo down consistently today.
Dividing the combo in parts helped me a lot.

You can do S-forward H xx quarter circle back K then K forwardH super it’s good damage
If you add a dire eclat (214S) you can wall splat for even more damage
My problem with hitting a lot of ky kiske combos is doing the dp, I can do it on thumb pad but I prefer thumb stick and it seems near impossible to do on thumbstick I’ve only ever done it on accident

I can't seem to get the vapor thrust out for the RC combo, instead i get the charged special and when I do it is very inconsistent. What am I doing wrong?

For the ender at 5:14 I never get that much damage. I am missing about a centimeter worth.
Is this part of the training mode, where the game sets up the combos and you execute them? Or did you set them up yourself?

I dont like 2D fighting games i tried street fighter but i was garbage. I seen people saying this was easier, i brought and played it i can tell you one thing it is some what complicated but once you figure the complications you can truly enjoy everything about this game. My first 2d game that an really enjoying
SFV has been out for a long time. If you jumped in towards the later end, a lot of the other players are long time players, even in lower rankings. This game is brand new, so everyone is new. Some are still better, but there are a lot more new players who you can compete against.
@@charliericker274 ive played street fighter 2 the old one. Am saying that out of street fighter and this, guilty gear is a lot easier to pick up then street fighter.

Yes, but it also feels that way because a lot of new players are playing, so the level of competition you are facing is more to your skill. A high level player will still wash a newbie.

I think the thing is that most of these are counter hits, they don't all work from neutral

This is my first GG game, I think I like ky as a main, but I enjoyed the small bit of time I played with angie as well as Giovanna, if any GG vets read this comment or someone who had more experience which character should I lean to?
Ky and Giovanni are absolutely solid characters, Giovanni leaning more to a rush play style and ky being a poking and zoning all rounder who is a blast to learn. I personally main ky and he usually does really well against most people I go up against and his combos don’t take ages to learn. Unfortunately I’ve barely played angie so I couldn’ t give you any recommendations on her even if I really wanted to :(

There is a combo recording setting in the Training mode. He recorded these using that, and is displaying them on screen right now.

How do you make Foudre Arc and Crouching HS link? Is it a tight one and I'm just mashing too much?
I think its character dependent. I couldnt hit the stun dipper one or the founde Arc one and then i switched enemy from sol to milla and they both work no problem.
@@exerhominious5084 Can confirm, 2HS -> 214K, as well as 2HS -> 236K work against Millia but not against May f.e.
I might be dumb here, but I am failing to get Foudre Arc to combo into Crouching HS(or anything really) and I've tried a lot of different timings. It just starts a new combo after Arc. Did something change or am I just not getting the right timing?
Note that it says Counter on the first hit

I made these myself using the combo recipe in training mode, unfortunately there's no way to download other people's recipes, at least not yet

Same here, the heavy slash just never combos after I do foudre arc, idk what it is lmao
if your purely missing it, its possible your not spacing something correctly but if its that the combo counter isn’t counting it is because many of these combos rely on counter hit instead of the combo just being true

When i do the Vapor Thrust mid screen into ride the lightning combo the vapor thrust doesnt launch her far up enough for it to connect, even tho I'm exactly doing it like the video, what could i be doing wrong?
It could be that you need to apply shock state at some point before vapor thrust. When an enemy is under shock state, vapor thrust sends them flying higher.

I‘m having mad issues to land a Jumping HS into up-close S. Like every time if I land an JHS my up-close S doesn’t come out ? I know where is proximity normals ( im aware of that ) ~ but it feels so weird to connect has anybody some tipps for me ?
Is your issue that by the time it comes out it’s not a combo or is it that the move just does not come out? If it is the former try doing j.HS a bit later in the hair because hit stun is not that large in this game. If it is the former you need to wait longer than you would think to hit the input, try hitting it shortly after you land.
@@kyleerb9587 Its actually both like i never can land the up-close S after the JHS. It gives me the far Version of S ( which combos on hit ) but i never get the up-close S - i kinda think that its an timing issue which I have ...
@@Zulfikeay jump ins are harder for me in this game than street fighter and took me a bit to get used to. It probably is primarily a timing thing. Even if you are up close in the corner I would recommend forward jumping if you are not because the push back on j.HS could be what is pushing you out of range. Either way I hope you figure it out!
Why can't i combo into stun deeper the second hit is blocked
You have to space the previous move that is canceled into stun dipper. Stun dipper from too close does not have enough frame advantage to combo into the second hit. The first hit has to hit late enough in the active frames that it leaves ky frame positive enough to land the second hit. Essentially your spacing of the first hit of stun dipper is off

Make sure you are trying it as a counter hit, the combo does not work unless it is a counter hit.

@@bestsnowboarderuknow If you're on PC, I think that's a glitch if you play on resolutions higher than 1080p. Or at the very least 4k. I'm not sure if 1440p is affected or not. I assume they're working on a patch for that.

There is no combo trial, I had to make them my own
4:02 after vapor thrust, don't move, just press triangle and circle
Could you explain that with the attack commands, I use a fightstick, which uses the Xbox controllers.
