1.8kWh can also sustain a server, a switch, a webcam and your 4G-router. Just add a few more solar-panels and you can have a mountaintop mini-datacenter 😎
The antenna needs 6W/h so...144 W/day. That battery is simply overkill! Can power the setup for 2 weeks with no stress and without any sunlight. Anyway, I like the setup :)
Charge Controller Tuning: In order to maintain battery health it is important to program your charge controller with the correct system parameters such as maximum voltage, total battery Ah capacity (if applicable), etc.
@@MyPlayHouse Some of the little £10 charge controllers like this one have buttons with a few helpful settings...I onve bought one like that for only £3!!! I guess check out the manual for your charge controller, it doesn't seem to have any buttons but who knows if it can do something special.
I agree with others, good that you're using a box for it, but put all the electronics in there, and put it underground - the deeper the better to normalise thermals for winter.
The only problem using that battery is the cold in winter. Good idea to put it in a hole, but I would have put all of the electricals in to the box as well. You're going to have to do a little something to fix that panel as a storm will take it down. Also hire a small van and go find some pallets that are usually free :) Oh and painters ezale (what you put to paint on) maybe a better option as you can fix the legs in the ground and also adjust it all in one. Will we see a wind turbine at some point too?
I only expect temperatures between -5C and 45C and when it freezes it is like a few hours. I am not putting up a wind turbine,, as there might be that nabo that does not like the look of it.
@@MyPlayHouse I think the battery box in the ground is a great idea! Out of sight and the ground should act as free insulation. Hopefully it will be cooler in the summer being in the ground too which might be more the concent in Portugal.
I would suggest adding a small fuse in line of the battery, if a component of the charger decides to die the worst way at some point those cables are going to melt.
Thats one big battery Morten, you should connect an inline fuse to that battery power lead just in case. A large plastic storage box like used in the garden for tools should be a good option to store the battery up there.

Is the panel facing south to get the most out of it? There is a solar tilt app for android where you put the phone on top of the panel to measure the tilt angle and there are calcs to tell you the best angle for time of year and location. Could be worth experimenting with.
beautiful equipment and a very interesting movie I need such materials someday I will know how to install such a power system thank you for the movie it is very 👍
You need to fix the solar panel far better so the piece of wood doesn't smash through it if it gets windy up there! A proper frame that supports the edges would be pretty easy to build, even for a tech nerd. ;-)
@@MyPlayHouse Just don't forget about water too! I've put solar batteries out for signs and found a vented, insulated box above ground works with non lead/water filled batteries.

Always a pleasure with your quirky wit Morten. Can't wait to see the Receiver video. It will cost you a fortune to run coax down that mountain to your Router. Next weeks video sponsored by The Coax Cable Company Portugal Ltd.😂
Hey Morten! May I just say that I totally envy you for having a summit of your own? What one could do with it! A little observatory! ^^) The downside is that summits attract lightning, and that pole will be the most likely candidate to get struck. I guess it is advisable to get a little metal hut up there to put the electrics and electronics stuff in and make a good low impedance ground connection. How steep is the slope up to the summit? It looks like some 100%/45° in the video. Probably too steep to tackle with any kind of vehicle, right?
That's a very good point. If there's no lightning rod nearby, and that's the highest point, it's likely to get struck by lightning. So, maybe it's a good idea to install a lightning rod up there? At least the connection to the house will be completely wireless, so there shouldn't be any danger to equipment in the house, even if the antenna gets struck.

i was thinking why he needs a nearly 2kwh battery to run a repeater. It makes no financial sense. Even learning in the end he got it for free he can utilize it in much better application.
Battery life tip: place a plank of wood under it to raises it more and to insolate it from the ground better ..the ground tends to drain batterys ..what its sitting on is good but adding wood too will help ..if they sit directly on the ground they go dead alot quicker
Do you base this on the old myth for lead acid batteries? That myth is based in something like the case being of wood that could swell and crack the internal glass containers or made of rubber (if memory serves me) and would start conducting if it got moist. So basically technologies not used for like 100 years, but the myth lives on. :)
This is a old myth from back when batteries was poorly insulated. the plastic that is used today is good enough to be placed on well leading metal (as it is in almost every car) and it want selfdrain.

One of the main things is to not that sort of info. If I shared that there was a iron chain,, then "somebody" would be able to plan for that.
