Geography lesson 101: Singapore ≠ China. But hey, at least they didn’t ask if TikTok is made in Japan!

The ship at 3:08 is the Chinese navy replenishment ship Gaoyouhu (966). I see the image is from 2016 RIMPAC as it was coming into Pearl Harbor. I'm curious as to why it would be flying the U.S. Flag as well?

Great observation! During RIMPAC exercises, it’s customary for ships entering Pearl Harbor to fly the U.S. flag as a gesture of respect and protocol, especially when participating in joint exercises. It signifies collaboration and goodwill among participating nations. Thanks for pointing out the specific details about the Gaoyouhu!

I was in the Navy from 69-75. Got stationed aboard a sub tender at Holy Loch, Scotland. Loved the job and duty station. Diplomacy should be first concerning Chinas outreach. I doubt if they are capable of much of a chance against our Navy. We definately dont want another war.

Thank you for your service! Holy Loch must have been an incredible experience. I completely agree-diplomacy should always be the first approach. While our Navy's strength is unparalleled, avoiding conflict is the ultimate victory.

@@navyproductions yes sir it was an incredible experience and place to be. Luckily for me there are many videos of the area while it was a base and after it closed in 92. Well worth a look at!

Diplomacy would be preferable if The Chinese are inclined to be diplomatic which I doubt is their end game. Unfortunately.

You make a fair point. Diplomacy is ideal, but it does take both sides being genuinely committed to it. Let’s hope for peaceful resolutions, even if the odds feel uncertain.
