This is a superb video. You explained architecture in layman terms. I have seen many oracle videos and by far this one is THE BEST. Never knew Oracle architecture would seem so easy to understand. Kudos to you!! Thanks for sharing.
Amazing for the first time I understood anything. You make it really so simple and you use as much as layman terms for anyone to understand. Great work sir Thank you
I have been watching your videos from more than one year. Your way of delivering contents are very simple and easier to understand. I really like it. Thank you very much.

Thanks... Any change in a computer has to be done in memory, for the work in a database (files) , buffer cache is the memory area where the data is brought to read or modify data
The data is not moved... only the change log is maintained in the Log Buffer... DB Buffer Cache contains blocks.. which could have multiple rows in each block...
Checkpoint information is written to Datafiles and COntrolfile headers. THe below two links gives you more information on them from Oracle Documentation.docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e40540/process.htm#BABHFGFF docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e40540/startup.htm#CNCPT89045
Hi dba ji I have doubt here. Suppose I am updating a record so as u said db writer will write into datafile ie dirty buffer. But what is being updated to redolog. Does it have only log that certain data was changed or any data is also present there
Thanks a lot... enjoy the learning... Your feedback is what encourages to create more... Please stay subscribed and you will get notified with the new videos...
Apologies, I don't have a blog.... It's only these videos through which I share my knowledge... There are more than 100 videos on my channel.... ua-cam.com/users/RamkumarSwaminathan they are organised into playlists to help viewers
PGA will be apart from the SGA, its an additional memory created for the Processes to do process specific work... SGA is shared across all processes while PGA is specific to each process....

This is the best explanation I could find. Thak you. But could you please expalin what buffer cache is for, it is a bit unclear for me.
Thanks... Any change in a computer has to be done in memory, for the work in a database (files) , buffer cache is the memory area where the data is brought to read or modify data
Thank you Sir for the quick reply.
Excellent work ....done .......
May I know how the modified data is moved to redo log buffer cache from db buffer cache
The data is not moved... only the change log is maintained in the Log Buffer... DB Buffer Cache contains blocks.. which could have multiple rows in each block...
Sir one doubt, checkpoint ibfo will be written into dsatafiles and redo logs OR datafiles and controlfiles ??
Checkpoint information is written to Datafiles and COntrolfile headers. THe below two links gives you more information on them from Oracle Documentation.docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e40540/process.htm#BABHFGFF

Hi dba ji I have doubt here. Suppose I am updating a record so as u said db writer will write into datafile ie dirty buffer. But what is being updated to redolog. Does it have only log that certain data was changed or any data is also present there
Redo has exact details of which rows were modified, old and new values for updates...
