- Sky News host Rita Panahi has mocked a vegan protester for putting his feet in a cement block.
In the video shared by sarcastic.simon on Instagram, the protesters are shown expressing their outrage over Starbucks charging customers more for soy and almond milk.
One protester can be heard saying, “save the planet, save the cows, end the vegan upcharge now”.
Another man was holding a sign telling Starbucks to end the “vegan upcharge”.
“Did you catch the dude at the end? He was drinking real milk with a sign saying ‘soy milk sucks’. Bless,” Ms Panahi said.
With their feet in blocks like that, they can now run just as fast as they can think.

Vegan 'upcharge'? It's not an upcharge, honey. It's pure economics: soy milk has to be manufactured in a specialised facility; dairy milk comes out of a cow.

That and basic supply and demand lol not many drink soy milk, so thus it's more likely to be expensive
Both get too much done to them before getting to the consumer, unless you get your milk straight from the cow. Pasturization, homigenation, antibiotics, etc. No thanks.

Starbucks has to pay more for the soy and almond milks so, like any other business, when they have to pay more for supplies they'll pass that charge on to the customers.
So why don't they charge less for black coffee, they are happy to take that saving off the customer.

Had a friend in high school who was obsessed with pirates and after we graduated he disappeared for over 20 years. At my HS 25 year reunion he walked in dressed as a pirate and had a peg leg, a hook for one arm and an eye patch. We all asked him about his peg leg and he said he lost it from a cannon ball, but the ship's medical officer fixed him right up with this peg leg. Asked him about his hand and he said he lost it in a sword fight with another pirate, but again the medical officer fixed him up with this hook. Then we asked him about his eye and he said he was out on the poop deck when a bird flew over and pooped right in his eye. So we asked you lost your eye over bird poop and he said no, he just forgot about the hook.

Sweetie, we have a lot of milk cows in our country, and in most dairies, the poor “abused” cows walk into the milking parlor, on their own, twice a day. They do this because they’re very smart, and have learned where to get a nice under carriage wash, some grub, and relief from their heavy, milk-filled udders. Kind of like spa time for the girls.
They blame Starbucks for being unreasonably expensive on their alternative milks, when soy and almond milks are between 50-100% more expensive to produce and package, than cow’s milk. Soy is generally the least expensive of the alternative milks, followed closely by almond…at least for now.
California almond farmers have experienced substantial acreage losses, in the last 2 years. This is a loss they had not seen in almost 30 years! Those losses have been partially attributed to lack of water, and an invasive Australian beetle. That does not factor in the problems they are facing from their local honeybee shortage. In fact, they’re having to import bees to meet pollination needs. That costs them money! If you’ve never watched the docuseries, “Rotten” on Netflix, you should check out the almond industry episode. It was recorded prior to the past 2 year’s issues.
Other milks like Oat, coconut, rice, & cashew, are, naturally, more expensive to produce than the soy and almond! Milks of hemp, flax, pea, hazelnut, and walnut are even more expensive than all the others!
I don’t expect the concrete people to understand, but I’d also love to ask one of them how to milk a soybean, or almond..

Upcharge? Almonds have to have pollinators [honeybees]. And since vegans are all into cheap veggies too, pesticides are used to prevent crop damage. In doing so, this is causing honeybee populations to drop significantly. Therefore the Almonds either do not get the pollination they need, or the orchards have to hire beekeepers to bring in honeybee hives to supplement pollination. This added step is expensive but at least they can keep up with your consumption. If not it would be twice as much or more due to demand being higher than production. Plus... thanks to the energy crisis created by the Biden Administration, transportation costs are much higher than before their turn at bat. Complaining isn't the answer. Voting-out those who have been running things in the world is. The politicians have been running things for decades [lawyers] are the biggest problem. Let's vote-um-out and get leaders in charge instead.
Almonds are also water water guzzlers. 377 gallons...1,427 litres of water required for 1 pound of almonds.
90 gallons...340 litres is required for 1 litre of milk.

Once a cow is bred and has birthed they seem to enjoy getting milked a couple, few times a day as opposed to their udders exploding. Almonds, oats and other nondairy coffee additives are about 95% water, some half rotted grains, nuts and even legumes with a whole bunch of artificial flavoring.
