The gimmick of a ref who is absolutely unequivocally a heel, but puts himself over as a babyface at all turns is pure nL magic.

I love how nL characters evolve over the story modes. I never expected a Hollywood prankster/influencer to turn into a referee obsessed wrestler who keeps getting into feuds over other wrestlers wives.

The funny thing is in the MyRise that *I* did, I ended up going with a ref gimmick too, *and I even used the Jeff name* 😆I just called him *Jeff Refferson* and gave him nothing but finger pointing taunts lmao

My god that performance center GM tryout match was amazing.
It amazes me how people can play a game straight for nearly 9 hours. That's a lot of mental energy. I mentally check out after 2 hours

I think 22’s my rise was really good especially the female one, I personally liked the stories better. However I just wish the mode didn’t seem like a bunch of side activities over and over again for the most part
It did have potential, just wish it was more engaging
I wish champions would actually rotate, looks like it's either you or the current champ. I get that the mode is called MY rise, but it feels like the WWE universe wouldn't exist without you.
If they planned for 10 different saves then it should be replayable
Eh, it lost its charm pretty quickly when it became clear everything played out through Twitter slapfights. I get that it was a way to do a lot of storylines without spending a lot of time and money animating cutscenes and recording voice lines, but man does it just feel soulless when all the drama is done with my dude just staring blank-faced at his phone in the locker room.
@@NorthStarBlue1 yeah it feels like just continuous side quests. I was surprised that it seemed like the backstage area seemed to regress and lacked any impact when selling but I guess that's new games in general. Only watching NL do it made it enjoyable 😊
I like the concept, but it feels way to much like what Superstar Mode should have been in Universe Mode. Cut out half the one off matches & give me some more backstage segments, and it's golden.
Nice to see you did the Dakota story one. When I played it, I was like, "Jawnny would love this."
It's nice to see JEFdaREF fulfilling his boyhood dream of becoming NXT champion. I saw him at an IWA: Mid South card in a warehouse in 2003. I believe he refed all the matches and mentioned this dream before each match.
Fun Fact: Dave Meltzer would report that almost each match had its finish botched by the referee counting WAAAAAAY too fast.

I'm glad you guys can actually start yours considering everytime I create my wrestler for the Womens I get sent back to the main menu. So much for playing a game mode as intended
Yeah the patches broke the entire creation suite for most players and they never fixed it. After the first few patches i was never able to create or edit anything.
I can still create things normally. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game just to play myrise and it did nothing. Regular creations work fine but god forbid I play a different mode. 2K just gonna keep pulling the "next year" shit.
@@yellerfeller5077 It really sucks because i couldn't create titles or superstars so i had to go back to the launch version and that unpatched version crashes on week 15 of GM mode every single time. Just hoping they fixed all these post patch glitches for 23.

I feel ya. Not the exact same thing, but I tried playing through MyRise, and finished all the NXT Stories and half the Raw ones, only to get stuck with an infinite loading screen when I tried to load my save file. Totally soured the game mode for me and I never went back.

Finally, I've been waiting since the game came out.
7:59:00 I remember before 2k22 there was more stuff to do (OMG Moments mostly), but navigating the area was a pain in the ass. You had to walk through that annoyingly narrow hallway until you could reach the more open area with the concessions table & the truck. It looked like the backstage area from the TV shows, but most of the areas were pretty cramped.
An alternate name for Jeff the Ref could've been: The Jefferee.

I could see a former ref gimmick being done well. Like I imagine it executed like Eddie Guerrero, since they know all the rules know how a ref acts they know how to bend and manipulate things to distract a ref and cheat to get wins. Or win by dq.
It’s cause those superstars where in movies/tv before wrestling. Stone cold and the rock and honestly Cena were not in movies till after wwe.
