Such sad news about Olivia's passing. She was only 73 & bravely fought cancer for nearly 3 decades. Olivia had so many great songs such as "I Honestly Love You", "If Not for You", "Let Me Be There", "If You Love Me (Let Me Know)", "Have You Never Been Mellow", "Xanadu", "Hopelessly Devoted To You" etc. She starred with John Travolta in the movie "Grease" in 1978 & they had some great songs together "You're the One That I Want" & "Summer Nights".

Your reaction was superb! How wonderful to see a young man like you seeing and appreciating this beautiful talent performing from 40+ years ago!! I saw this original airing on The Midnight Special tv show in July 1980, I was 20 years old and I absolutely fell in love!! I was already a fan of "Sandy"'s from "Grease" 2 years earlier, but this song put me over the top, head over heals in love! It was from her upcoming movie "Xanadu" where she plays a greek goddess named Kira who comes down from the heavens to make dreams come true. The music from the movie is phenomenal. Listen to the "Xanadu" song sometime, it's amazing. Also, (there are just SO many suggestions, I don't want to overwhelm) but watch the "Twist of Fate" video. From 1983. Just amazing! I am subscribing to you, you are a treat to watch! You truly get it!!

Olivia, Debbie Harry, and Marsha Brady were my first loves as a preteen back in the day. I had little stickers from mail in album companies on my headboard at 8 years old. I knew what I wanted then, and I married my Blondie at 34 and still count myself lucky to have her love to this day.

She was NOT underrated. She was huge. Starting in the 70s thru the 80s. She made bank. The word underrated means someone who should get more credit than they got. She got tons of credit and made tons of money. I lived during those times. Millennials and the younger generation misuse the word “underrated” all the time. Just say she was phenomenal, amazing, wonderful, fabulous, stupendous…tons of more accurate descriptions! Apologize for my rant. Stepping off my soapbox now.

I know what you're saying. I think that all the time but give these newbies some slack. All they know is what's here and now like Beyoncé, who by the way, couldn't even stand in Olivia's shadow

    • @plumeria66

@@SirWrecksy Agree. But also they learn English from their peers on social media so their vocabulary is limited. Giving them slack only lowers the standard which is already at its lowest point in the history of the US.

JB, 5:30 was the perfect pause. Olivia beckons with her smile thru the camera lens ... and 42 intervening years vanish. Unrivaled talent, physical beauty and kindness - she had it all - but here she flashes, in that one look, The Power. It's more than stardom. She playfully takes prisoners with an over-the-shoulder glance, a performer's gift to her audience. Saw it in 1980, and now, again. Rest in peace.

My family first got cable television when I was 8 years old, in 1983. One of the first movies I watched on HBO was Xanadu starring Gene Kelly, Michael Beck, and one Olivia Newton-John. I was immediately enamored, her beauty and her voice instantly imprinting onto my soul. She was my first, and only, celebrity crush. That crush only deepened as the years passed, and I found out more about the person behind the voice and face; Olivia Newton-John was simply an amazing human being, in my opinion. Even though I'm a metalhead at heart, I've never gotten over that initial "wow" of her presence. Imagine a long haired, inked up biker looking fellow in Wal-Mart doing his happy dance after randomly spotting her concert with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra on dvd lol My friends used to hate when I'd make mixtape CDs because one minute you might be jammin' to Cannibal Corpse, the next maybe you're hearing the angelic voice of Olivia Newton-John 😁🤘

So glad to hear that a new generation can appreciate the massive talent that she was, no auto-tune just natural talent! I had the great pleasure of meeting her at a cocktail party 11 years ago. So lovely, so beautiful and so down to earth! RIP to this angel among us, for way too brief a time!!! She sold 100 MILLION albums!

As a little girl she was one of my role models. I agree, she was the complete package; personality, kindness, beauty, talent. Fun fact, John Travolta actually fought with the movie production team to get her casted as Sandy in the movie Grease. They wanted to cast him along side Marie Osmond, Linda Ronstadt, but he he said "No, every guy wants a girlfriend like Oliva, you have to cast ONJ". They went on to make another movie together, however this song "Magic" is from another musical movie that she did, Xanadu. RIP Olivia, your legacy lives on

She's absolutely gorgeous, perfect body, wholesome, angel voice, no tattoos and no attitude. She's the complete package. I loved how you immediately got love struck when you first saw her. Olivia was a beautiful woman inside and out. Apart from her incredible talent she is known for founding the Olivia Newton John Cancer Research and Wellness Centre in Melbourne. The amount of money she raised for research over the years was staggering and she did it up to her last days. She fought breast cancer for 30 years. This song is from her movie Xanadu. It was a flop but I loved it and the soundtrack went global. RIP Livvy fly high with the angels your light will be missed.

I had the Xanadu album and loved the movie. My mom let me stay up to watch it. Grease was my first album though. I liked Grease as a kid but I loved Xanadu. I had the 8 track of totally hot when I was 5 or 6 years old. I played her greatest hits vol 2 and Physical all the time too. Through the years I have rebought the albums and cd's. From what I know, Olivia started out as a singer in the '70s. That's when she did most of her popular songs. She got into movie making in the late '70s, but it wasn't for long. I think she just starred in a couple, "Grease," and "Xanadu." In fact, "Magic" is from "Xanadu."
The music she made in the early '80s, like "Magic," was really her last hurrah. Her most popular song then was "Physical." Her music was very popular in the early '80s, but after that, it fell off a cliff. It may have been because she got married, or got interested in other things, and stopped recording. I lost track of her after that.

Thanks for the reaction man. Nobody had a bad thing to say about her, she was as nice in real life as she seemed on stage. If you are after other songs of hers to react to, "Xanadu" also has her in the prime of her beauty like this one. One that she did much later in her career was a live performance with John Farnham of "please don't ask me".

Does anyone remember the bandana headband from Olivia's hit song "Physical"? It was a fun, sexy song in stylish workout clothes! To this day and I'm talking decades, I still wear a bandana headband from time to time. Have you ever watched the movie " Grease"? All time classic movie definitely worth watching! I never watched the movie Grease but seen little bits and pieces of it. I not a fan of musical movies. Only know Olivia Newton-John through her music played on radio when I was a little kid and many interviews on tv over the decades. This song is from her movie Xanadu which didn't do good in the box office but it was actually a very enjoyable movie so if you want to see her in it she was great you should watch it

Livvy started off singing back in the 60s. She started seeing international fame in the mid-1970s. She was placed in the country genre in the 70s because of the country feel (arrangements) of the songs that she was doing at the time. By the end of the 70s and early eighties, she successfully crossed over into pop. She was featured in the film "Grease" in 1978 along with John Travolta. Her next foray into acting was the movie musical, "Xanadu", circa 1980. The film bombed at the box office, but the soundtrack burned up the charts. It featured ONJ and ELO. The songs composed by Jeff Lynne and other members of ELO garnered both popular and critical success. The song "Magic" was the first major release from the movie soundtrack. ONJ would also release more music during this period. She would also go onto Star in another film with John Travolta, "Two of A Kind" in 1983. It bombed at the box office as well, but a hit song came out of it.."Twist of Fate." I was a huge fan of ONJ back in the day, but I am so sad that she's gone.

Olivia and Karen Carpenter were best friends. Both were extremely talented singers with heavenly voices.

It was with anticipation to see the internet photo turned around. Now imagine that photo on a 12"x12" double vinyl record sleeve for Grease. It was crush at first sight.

RIP DEAR OLIVIA 🙏 hard pill to swallow losing her. My 1st concert when I was 12. And that guy she dated for 9 yrs to fake his own death leaving ONJ wondering where he went. What a jerk of a man. Patrick Kim. I fell in love with when I was 5. She's about to be 74 in September. I can't stop hurting world is a bit darker. Her and Betty White two caring women. ❤ 😥

This is not a single. But from her other movie.Xanadu. In it she plays Kira One of the 9 Greek muses. The reference to We are magic. The Greek gods would send her and her 8 sisters into the world to inspire artistic persons to higher levels and archive their dreams.
