1:41 straight out of a movie! Those colours are amazing. I find the Petzval combination way too much. Maybe nice to try with a Helios 44-2 or 40-2 for a sharper image and less pronounced swirl effect. So, the final result becomes more balanced.
Beautiful 😍! Mathieu, you know about it probably but the gh4, gh5, they can shot in anamorphic crop mode : you can use the full 4k sensor or 6k for gh5, in ratio 1.1, like that, when you unsquize you dont loose too much image on borders
I mean I’m dreaming of adapting a Mamiya 80mm f1.9 medium format on my future A7Siii with a focal reducer and thinking that this would produce some great looking shots, but, if anything, following your channel for years now, I know your stuff is waaaaaay too next level. You are a true inspiration, Mathieu...
Center composition with all the distortion is such a lovely visual. Would love to have such a lens in my collection and try it with stills, maybe some day video as well.
Great video Mathieu, I loved the mossy trees in the forest, amazing ! But you mentioned that by using a UV filter the anamorphic flares will be stronger, did you use a simple unmodified UV filter or one with a fishing line or such ?
1:43 what planet is this? insanely beautiful! could you please explane how you frame and monitor your image on the external monitor so it fits the standart ratio? thanks!
Beautiful work. I have the same Kowa anamorphic adapter and it’s by far the best affordable adapter IMO. The flares at the end of the video are its’ staple! Overall a solid investment.
Hey Mathieu how are you clamping down the Kowa on the smallrig lens support. I looked three times to compare the product between the image of the support in your video and it looks different to my eye what you are using. As if there is a clamp holding down the Kowa at the base of it.
@@MathieuStern I found the mounting ring you are using - but can you please tell me what you are using to attach it to the rods to slide it? I want to replicate your system it’s much more efficient than having a bunch of step up / step down rings.

Hey Mat, thanks for all your videos. I have a question about the focal length of anamorphic lenses and what they look like on faces compared to the focal lengths on aspherical lenses? E.g. a 24mm focal length on the face close up will distort the face because it's wider, making the nose more prominent and the ears seem further away. Compared to an 85mm, the faces will look more proportionate. How does the anamorphic lenses stack up to this type of comparison? For example an anamorphic 50mm will still give the same focal length facial dimension as an aspherical 50mm? Or since it desqueezes on the width, does it affect the perception of the faces?
With a DIY solution you can't go wider than 40mm, so a 24mm is totally impossible to use in an anamorphic 2X scenario. the face in close up will be deformed because you will need a diopter and that will change the squeeze ratio to 1.8X for my Kowa 16H. but i would not worry too much about that.
These shots in the mossy forest blew my mind

I LOVED that effect! Yes, it was too much, but it was sooo dreamy, it transported me somewhere else!
Those some very nice shots!
DIY anamorphic is a pain in the >insert random body part<
And yeah the shots in the forest are amazing
Lol Merci mec
Yes it's a Pain for sure

Amazing shots ❤️
Thank you so much 😀
what product do you use to clamp the anamorphic lens to the rails?
Amazing lens and Amazing video work! ⚡🔥
2:05 was beautiful
Hey, awesome rig, just curious, I know it's the small rig rods and rails, but what part is attached to the rear of the anamorphic adapter?
It’s a zhiyun clamp made for the crane 2 but it fits perfectly
Thank you for making these videos. It difficult to find someone here on UA-cam with such passion for unique lenses.
I appreciate that!

1:41 The mossy trees are excellent.
This is really, really cool. Thank you for opening our eyes a little farther.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow the footage really engorged the eyes especially the 90mm and Petzval captures. Great work as always.
Glad you like them!
Details of the anamorphic lens support that you use with the rails ??
That is really awesome, Thanks for showing the rig.
No problem 👍
This video is INSANE. Too good. You are awesome. ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, thank you!
Gorgeous stuff!
Many thanks!
C'est vraiment très beau. Hors de l'ordinaire. Ça fait du bien de votre autant de créativité et de technique a la fois

just a simple basic UV filter
@@MathieuStern Thank you, I'll try that :)

Merci Jules
This is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing :)
You are very nice :)
Don't go chacing waterfalls... Unless you're shooting it in anamorphic! Love the vid!
That set up looks amazing. Great content as always !
Thanks for watching
I have that same lens. What mount/clamp are you using to lock down the 16-H lens? Keep up the amazing work!
Did u figure out what mount/clamp that was?
Wow but what is the location with those amazing green threes?
Its in France, Jura region
What front clamp is that at 5:43? Which brand?
WOW great ... I have two 2X 16mm Anamorphic lenses.
Jaw dropped !
C'est de toute beauté !
Merci mec !
@@MathieuStern sérieux ça a dû être un sacré kiff, surtout en cette période.
Ah, yes, the elusive waterfall. Shy and almost extinct from hunting, this gracious animal is only seldom encountered in nature.

Totally agree!
The 45mm is really a gem of a lens :)
Where is the mossy forest? Amazing video!
Omg ure so lucky ! this incredible forest is unreal
Люблю твои видео! Всегда качественная картинка и потрясающее музыкальное сопровождение 👍
Amazing!! Love your videos! Merci (:
Wow where is this?!
Oh, the new video! Great!
Hope you enjoyed it!
I need to find a mossy forest like that here in America! What an amazing location for a horror style shoot!
Amazing, dude! I won't even try to repeat that XD
Thanks a lot !
Which adapter did You use? Also isn't it a problem for the adapter to have a gap in between the lens

it's not a clamp, it's a part of a gimbal from a zyiun crane.

Very cool video and nice and interessting footage. However very complicated and not very sharp. I'd prefer the sirui 🤔
the Sirui is not wide enough at 1.33 although this GREEN enchanted forest would look great with any lens
like in a dream
thats cool

c'est un Macro ring pour sony, mais depuis je consaillerais plutot de faire un adapteur en impression 3D
You are amazing! When can we see a feature film directed (and shot) by you? I would pay to stream that...
Well, that would be awesome, but i need to practice a lil more

nice the lens is very sharp, some shots were a little off but i see you simply just put it in front, not clamps! i guess that works

With 8K cameras emerging maybe anamorphic lenses thankfully won’t be needed anymore.

sur ebay avec beaucoup de chance.

too advanced for me... hahaha but that forest shot is impressive.
I don’t get it but good job
well i made many videos about anamorphic lenses, to help you get it :) check them out
dont go chasing waterfalls...
