Not at all, we almost never would use the collar for correction only.

I wish this podcast came out 4 months ago! Top quality content as per usual. I'm definitely guilty of your third example of 'she comes when called off the lead'. Everything was great until she bumped a rabbit. Any advise for those of us where e-collars are now illegal?

On a side note I've started collar conditioning with a cheap vibration collar which are still legal.

Ecollar I think not illegal or atleast can use in EU but all thinks nowasays that it is use for dog torture. I've never used it but it could be good for sometimes. Just enough to get the chasing out. It's better for the dog to be safe when shooting.

@@matthewwagner4042 Wales, moved to England and they're banning then completely as of Feb 2024. Funnily enough since they banned them in Wales there's been more dogs shot or destroyed for livestock and aggression than before the ban.

Some second rate University in England published a paper saying how harmful they are, and how they're not as effective as positive only training. Try offering a dog a treat when they're chasing something....

    I have just got a 6mo rescue.
How long should I wait to start collar training please

We always recommend laying the foundation first with positive reinforcement for recall before introducing an e-collar. Especially with a rescue not necessarily knowing their background, you will want to make sure that you take plenty of time for them to feel comfortable with you and their new environment and working for meals through clicker training sessions will be a great way to get started with that. Thank you for replying 😊. He's such a good boy considering he came to me at 6 months with zero training including toilet training.
His new pack love him to bits.
