- Raul Gonzalez Blanco was one of the best attackers of his generation and one of the best Spanish footballers of all time. A prolific goal-scorer and a highly creative forward, Raul is regarded as one of the greatest and most consistent forwards of the 1990s. Wearing the number 7 jersey for most of his club and international career, he was capable of playing anywhere along the front line, although he was primarily deployed as a center-forward, or as a supporting striker.

Raul the 🐐
Were it not for the Galacticos Raul would have gone down as an even greater player than he already was which was already an all time great. Before the Galactico era he was already the most deadly striker in Europe scoring 30 a season and leading Madrid to league and champions league titles as their best player... Then the Galactico era happened and he sacrificed too much of his own legacy to make that work. All of a sudden he's going from one of Europe's best strikers to playing as a winger or a 10 or anywhere he needed to be keep that circus of a team ticking. And he's gone from scoring thirty a season to ten a season and R9, Figo and Zidane are all taking center stage. And they didn't even win a whole lot 🤣Zidane won one champions league at Madrid and Ronaldo won zero and they won one league title in five years. Had they continued to build around Raul then he'd have for sure been the top scorer in La Liga in the 2000's like he was in the 90's and they'd probably have won more trophies to boot.
