I have had my Ruby Sport Chief for a month now, I also own the 2022 FTR. The Sport Chief is just so premium it isn't even fair. My girlfriend LOVES riding with me on it vs the FTR & my old Ducati, I got the passenger seat upgrade ofc, the stock seat might look like it can seat a passenger, but it won't. I know the investment is even larger for you in Australia since it's an import, but it is just so nice I can't recommend it more, & Indian is making such great machines these days they are who I want to support going forward.
A good idea for Indian. The bike that shows the most positive response will give Indian a possible direction to go for future projects..... OR to give them ideas for making aftermarket products to sell.
I picked up my spirit blue sport chief last week. It has over its break in miles currently and I have been enjoying my time with it, ripping up and down the coast
I actually completely agree with you on all points and then some. I think we have to see the bike as a unique and wonderful work of art. Designed as something we will immediately recognize as something rare and precious. For everything else, the factory Indian Sport Chief is preferable.
After watching custom motorcycle builders on reality TV a decade or so ago I'm not a big fan of throwing tons of money at overly stylised bikes that lose most if not all of their functionality. Throw in movie or TV stars and I'll give it pass. Thornton Hundred does a pretty good job balancing style and performance but he is drifting into style over function too. These guys start off okay but efforts to top their last project always leads into the outrageous zone.
I have been following this custom build series and was looking forward to seeing the first bike revealed. My chin nearly hit the floor when I first saw it! What a disappointment! In my humble opinion I think he has ruined a brilliant bike. Indian need to be careful if they promote their bikes being ‘customised ‘ to this woeful standard.

glad to see a fellow sport chief owner having a blast

You nailed it!
Good for brand exposure, I imagine. Harleys get customized all the time, so hurray for Indian.
Good idea, not wild about specific choices, either. I think id just want mini apes and the most comfortable seat available.
I'm also curious about the Buel super cruiser. I won't be able to afford that bike when it comes out but another nice bike.
its cool however that being said it should not be employed in the mfg process at all.
