I'm touching my toes to the bottom of the deep end of the pool with my daughter for the first time. While we're down there, my son jumps in. We see him, all smiles and covered in bubbles. This is the song playing in my head. And when I die, I will live in that moment so much I won't be able to remember if it was real, or I just dreamt it. And it wont matter. None of it mattered, and all of it mattered. And the big ship sails on. Thank you for narrating existence, Brian.
Thank you...
😭😭❤️❤️
I often debate myself on which Eno piece I want to hear if I have the gift of choice as I lay dying. This is at the top of the list and always beats Beethoven’s 9th Choral-am I utterly mad?
Woaw
Beautiful.
It is approaching 50 years since I first heard The Big Ship (wearing those oversized headphones so common long ago.) These days, whenever I travel over international waters, after the dinner has been served and its remains collected, when everyone has visited the bathroom, the lighting has dimmed, and almost everyone has fallen asleep, knowing that should this aircraft suddenly drop into the water (meaning there is absolutely no chance of recovery of life) this is the song I play. If I am going down (a la 2014's Malaysia 370,) I am going out calm, satisfied with my life, content with my years. I thank Brian Eno for putting all things in perspective. The Big Ship: every living person in this world should have the opportunity to listen to this masterpiece at least once before passing on.
I too enjoy Eno on 1st Class International flights. I recently summered in
Baden-Baden with my partner Crispin , and one evening after a rigorous round of dwarf tossing, I thought back to my early days in the meat hat industry and how far we’ve come. All the while those visions danced in my head, this was the very soundtrack.
I spent the first few months listening to this song, crying the kind of tears that make you feel like your entire soul is going to burst out of your chest. Not happy tears, nor sad. Just a deep feeling of connection to the universe, and a reminder that this is just our journey home. Life is the curriculum and our bodies are the vessels.
I want to share this song with everyone I love. Play it aloud as each member of my family holds hands, connected along the shoreline.
I swear this kind of music could heal the all the diseases of the world. I wish I could gift people even a sliver of what this song makes me feel ❤
If this makes you cry, listen to The Kiss by Judie Sill on Old Grey Whistle Test. She was a giant of music, only that the majority of people didn't know it. A tragic life.
@@michelletonks2270beautiful song, thanks for sharing. ❤️
Hearing this song is like seeing God, or falling in love all over again. Better still, watching your own life resolve itself in the end. A peaceful resolve into the unknown where things will be better...
When I die and my life is flashing before my eyes, I want this song to be the soundtrack.
Seamas Ceallaigh May eternity itself be composed of music such as this.
I can't stop listening to it, it's that enjoyable.
They made a movie with some of this music and some of "Here Come the Warm Jets" in the movie it was "The Lovely Bones" an excellent movie the star was dead in that movie.
Its just that long long slow build up. I will ask her to buy us a selfie stick, come to Treaseach I will say to her.
Lady Stardust.
This is on top of my "best songs that are too short"
good things are always too short.
I don't usually complain about that but the original version is absurdly short. I mean what were they thinking.
Eno Bowie musicalement un massacre magnifique 👍👍👍
Then you'll love 'The Big Loop'

It's 10 hours long and yes I've listened all the way through multiple times while studying
Listen explosions in the sky your hand in mine (sound the same)
one of those rare songs that fits every momentous and mundane event in your life.
Insightful
sorry i think I accidentally clicked a down thumb
Not many songs can make me tear up but damn... Another Green world is a masterpiece. Despite all the heavy effects and electronic synthesizers, it one of the most human albums I’ve ever heard
yes this album is a masterpiece.
ACandyColoredClown
Wholeheartedly agree. When I first heard Here Come the Warm Jets album in 1974, I thought it was amazing & couldn't be bettered. But damn, only a year later, he releases Another Green World & goes to a different level. Absolutely astounding album & this track mesmerising.
Ohm Sweet Ohm by Kraftwerk is the same. Synthesized but with real human depth and emotional interlaced in the performance. A truly powerful song that and this composition are.
Like good Kraftwerk.
Very True.
"As you come into this world, something else is also born. You begin your life, and it begins a journey towards you. It moves slowly, but it never stops. Wherever you go, whatever path you take, it will follow. Never faster, never slower. Always coming. You will run, it will walk. You will rest, it will not. One day, you will linger in the same place too long. You will sit too still or sleep too deep. And when, too late, you rise to go, you will notice a second shadow next to yours. Your life will then be over." - The Doctor
+Andrew Spud Mr Spud Sir. A minute of your time please. Do you know a man who goes by the name of" Donald..... Sindon".... I was told I could find him here, by the way I like the cut of your jib.
Wow that is deep thinking
Doctor Who?
Dr Who ?
@@chrisdsc8099Yes, Dr. Who
This is one of the most powerful, most beautiful pieces of music that I will ever hear.
My life in a Bush of Goast the best album ever crafted wil never be surpassed by any human being
My best friend died in a car accident 40 years ago.
It took me half a year and THIS song to cry for the loss of him.
It released the numbness in a Pure magical way. Ever so thankful to Brian Eno
When I first saw Brian on TOTP's performing with Roxy Music, I knew he was a star in the making. I've followed him ever since & I think he is an amazing musician. Keeps reinventing himself. No other musician even comes close to his innovative music. Simply a genius.
you are absolutely right.
Very well put.
I don't know which is best in this flawless piece of art: the avant-garde/timeless sounds, the mesmerizing chord changes, the feeling of your soul floating over your body... Could listen to it for hours. Brian Eno is a genius.
yes you are right,I love this song since the late 70s.
I could listen to this composition by Brian Eno over and over forever. It strikes very deeply to my core in a wordless way. His song, "Everything Merges with the Night" does the same thing but with music AND words. So very emotionally beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Yes truly well described. Ive loved Eno for close to 5 decades and those 2 songs are towering monuments amongst Eno's greatest and most beautiful songs/music pieces he has ever written. I love the first 4 albums from Warm Jets through to Science.
🖤
we're sharing emotions. i feel you out there.
+ingranaggiefarfalle lol...we r all just scrolling through the comments...crying
Ah dunno, i just smell girls.
Thank you...
True art. Fits sadness and elation. Truth made melody. Infinite gratitude to the makers.
"Fits sadness and elation". Oh, I love that.
melancholy...heart racing, mind reaching, touching bottom and very tip top at the same time. Such an intense wave of emotions.
Perfectly Said
when i listen to this song, i think of all the curve balls life has thrown me and how i still hit a home run. I think of how perfect my life is and how i am here to this day.
what a curve ball is? :)
@@rafamonteroyuste2895 A curve bill is an expression for when you are given a challenge, an especially tricky challenge. It comes from the sport of baseball where the pitcher has skill to throw a ball to the batter that will not travel in a straight line, making it difficult for the batter to hit the ball. Hope this is helpful.
Me, and Earl and the Dying Girl.
What an amazing film!
When I listen to this song, I feel so happy, transcendent, elated, like I can do anything. Yet simultaneously, i feel in my hearts of hearts, wrapped around the happiness, I feel sad. Melancholy. Lost. Painful memories. Longing for something but it remaining always out of my grasp. But I rejoice, this is a beautiful song. That will fill me with longing for something I want, yet fill me up with happiness. God bless you guys.
+Flavio Orozco I've just watched it, and now I feel so lonely, with a big hole in my chest, I want to cry but I can't, it's really weird. This film shocked me...
+Flavio Orozco i love you
'the end of the tour' brought me here, but i think it resonated because of 'me, earl & the dying girl' which i watched a few weeks ago.
+SpreadsFire stop spreading fire ._. people die, you know
+DeformedsTV : lol, when i created my UA-cam account, oh so many years ago, i wanted represent my old passion with my current obsession..... widespread panic and burning man, respectively.
This song awakens an utter appreciation to be alive within me. I have gone through my own personal Hell, then back. This song makes me look forward to the dawn of a new day. Makes me love the light of the sun, the light of the moon. It makes me think "Wow! There is so much more to life than video games, movies, and sitting in my room being mopey. I need to get out there and EXPERIENCE it." Listening to this makes me feel so... real. Someone in this moment section, Savteer Sandhu, summed it up perfectly. They said it makes them feel human. That's how I feel... human.
Brian Eno is a God of Sound
It's hauntingly beautiful and incomparable. You can't help but to get lost in this song and see where it takes you.
The most beautiful song in the world, sounds like life
"Neither of us knows where our life's going to go.
It smells like chew and tobacco, soda and smoke.
and the conversation is the best one I have ever had.
David thought books existed to stop you from being lonely.
If I could I would say to David that living those days with him reminded me of what life is like,
instead of being a relief from it.
And I'd tell him it maybe feel much less alone"
+Ahmad Usafzai where is this from?
"the end of the tour"
movie about David foster Wallace. you should watch it
Ahmad Usafzai I will. Thank you very much
YES
That is so beautiful. Thank you for shrng. Just finished watching the movie "The End of the Tour."
This song makes me feel… human. It's weird but it's the only way i can describe it.
+Satveer Sandhu i sweeeear thats wat i feel like too, its just soo wierd
+Satveer Sandhu btw dude i think u should watch me earl and the dying girl(its a movie) cuz they use this song in an amazing way at the end, am in love with it
Same here. :)
Thank you
Remember that Eno created a whole music that was not comparable to anything else. Emotions are a patina of everything that makes music lively and lovely. There are emotions from some musics that are utterly unlike anything else. Eno is a master at finding those spaces.
this is a farewell song
He did that on Here Come The Warm Jets too had a farewell song.
Yes. Farewell to the world left behind. I want this playing at my funeral. (In case anyone turns up.)
I never want to be without this song.
The End Of The Tour is incredibly underrated, fantastic script, direction and performances.
Magic atmospheric piece, one of the most wonderful moments on Another Green World. I dig this album for almost 35 years of my life.
Stunningly beautiful, no other words to describe it
I just saw Me and Earl and The Dying Girl not too long ago. And that scene in the hospital where they watch the video was so powerful and emotional. No words. Just this song playing, and I'll admit, I bawled my eyes out. So glad I saw that movie. Funny and emotional at the same time.
Thanks for the recommendation Bassist1996. I watched it last night and had the same reaction. That movie is a gem.
I have followed Brian forever. How one composition can hold so much emotion and power is beyond words. It's the genius of BE. Human kind owes a debt to this man and his prophetic wisdom.
I don't want this to end, like ever
ikr? :)

One of my favorites. I love it when he builds and layers songs throughout. Makes me feel.
Brian has said that he doesn’t believe in God, but when he makes music this beautiful, I’m feeling like God believes in him. ♥️
yes you are right.
I feel the same! 🌠
might be the most appropriate comment I've seen yet
"God" is the pinnacle of every hierarchy in Nature! I've never understood how an "atheist" can so clumsily fail LOGIC! If you're going to hang your hat on logic you're obliged to recognize its operation! Failing in that obligation is self-destructive...
Always listening.
This song has a very majestic/mesmeric quality. I love how it seems to keep building on itself. Beautiful! THANKS Mister E!!
First time I heard this song was in Me Earl and the Dying Girl and I was FLOORED!! The whole hospital scene with the video, the music, the girl and 'Me' was outstanding and blew me away emotionally. Music can truly play with one's emotions. I've listened to this song over and over again since. Awesome instrumental piece!!
When I hear 'The Big Ship' I picture my mother being welcomed into heaven by Mary and the saints as she rides in, all smiles and tears, on a slow-moving flower-covered caravan -- finally at home. Don aka Fiasco
❤
A very talented man, producer to the stars; long may he reign!
Still the only song I have ever listened to that can reduce me to tears.
My best friend is dying in hospital right now. I gave him the link to the song so he could drift away with the angels.
@Kaiser Edward Incredible comment
this is wonderful
i think this song represent our life with all up and down , hopes and disappointment it’s not sad nor happy it’s both and sometimes crowded even annoying and that’s i guess literally our lives but still what i really like that the rhythm won’t stop as we also don’t. We all just carry on until the moment that slowly music go down and we just leave.
I think it is the voyage of life that is described in this song.
@@MD-ru5vs 😂😂😂 yeah i just now thought about the name of it 😂😂 after great effort i explained that water is water 😂😂😂
Me and Earl and the dying girl. I cried a lot.
You should also watch Brooklyn Bizarre, strong and beautiful movie with this music!
You would with "The Lovely Bones" too.
Once, almost forty years ago, I was in Spain with good friends, lying near a swimming pool. I had took some acid and had the imagine to be in a submarine, inside the pool, looking outside the light blu water from his circular window. There were people diving and swimming and I could see only their legs moving underwater and the streams of bubbles of their bodies going deep and big tropical fishes going around. This music was played or, perhaps was only in my mind, lasting for more and more than his 3, 30 minutes.
best version ever
best song ever , I will. give this to my family 😥😞😢

I absolutely adore this extended remix. Well done, Duston.
Thanks for uploading the extended version once more :)
Was waiting for it !
Odd that this song was rolled in the credits of the last 2 movies I watched. Really gets down to them feels, don't it? Would not have guessed it was Eno. I thought maybe Siggur Ros or Mogwai. It's so simple, yet so good... Pretty magical.
I was a teen wen it was on r telly arts show. Arena
The scene Where This Song Is Played In The Movie (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) Is So Powerful, Pure Emotion Captured. Just Wow.
Genius is too kind with Brian.
The lovely bones for me!
All aboard! I don’t know where this Big Ship is headed but atleast we will all be together! Let’s set sail into the clouds! 🛳 ⛅️

BEAUTY.....GOOSEBUMPS ALL OVER ME!!!!!
Eno has my soul
I caught the end of ME and EARL AND THE DYING GIRL on TV one night, I was so moved by this music that I shazamed it.
As time went on and In the evenings, I used to walk my amazingly calm and placid dog, Luther, a white lurcher, whilst listening to the DOTS extended edit on YT.
Around the beginning of January 2020 he developed an aggressive cancerous tumour and We had to say goodbye to him the very same day it was diagnosed so as to save him any suffering.
I was, and still am heartbroken and I well up tears as I type this comment. Perhaps to me it’s even more poignant due to the ultimate ending in the film.
I can see myself from afar, Luther and I slowly walking the long road as I listen to this piece of music, perfect and so much the stuff scenes are made of....thank you Brian Eno and duston thestylus 🐶
RIP Luther, I will always love you and I will always miss you 😢
I know how difficult it is to lose a beloved dog. Luther will always live in your heart. This beautiful music simply helps that to happen. Warmest regards to you.

I've had Another Green World since about 1975, after reading a Circus magazine review. I was just blown away and still am.
Superb edit!

goosebumps..........and i never saw it any movie and dont care to!!! stunning and joyous.
you should watch Lovely Bones, it is an amazing film.
love the song and so glad I found this longer version. Nice Work!
Eno, Fripp !!! Quelle merveilleuse puissance d'évocation...
This really needs a 10h youtube video!
There is. It's called "The Big Loop".
In my opinion this artist is eccentric as we all are. I never listened to him till lately. I perceive my loss now. The music grabs you and pulls you in. Amazingly creative. What else have i missed?..
