Amazing video, i love magic books. Other great books are: - maximum entertainment - the show doctor by jeff mcbride - the art of magic by eugene burger - Magic and showmanship - Fritzkee trilogy - Pure effect by Derren Brown - Close up by David Stone - Mystery school by Jeff Mcbride - Devious standard Jamy ian Swiss - Preserving mysteries Jamy ian swiss And a lot more, great books :-)
Great list, thanks for sharing!!. I would add "Magic of Ascanio Vol. 1 - The Structural Conception of Magic". Ascanio's theory has being the most influential for spanish magicians, including Juan Tamariz . Cheers!!
I have to add Beyond Secrets by Jay Sankey. You can still download a pdf since it has been out of print for years. Then for history but still talking about the art, Hiding the Elephant and Glorious Deceptions.
I know this you left this comment 3 years ago, but he just did a reprint this year but his supporters get first come first serve. So, I think it's sold out still. But a lot of the advice in his blog pertains to the same subject and you can read it for free.
Great video, guys! I would also add Magic By Design (John Carney) and Close-up Presentation (John F. Mendoza). Both are hard to find, but very worth the effort.
Joshua Jay compiled a huge collection of essays (many from out of print books) called Magic in Mind. It's a free download from Vanishing Inc. (Sorry to plug another shop, but this collection is really really good, so you'll understand.)
Yeah that's a great book. It has selections from many of the books Erik mentions. There are samples from the Jamie Ian Swiss, Derren Brown, Darwin Ortiz, and Juan Tamariz books. Erik just went to the original books.
Great list! As are many other in the comments. I would add Magic and Meaning by Bob Neale and Eugene Burger. And the Books of Wonder by Tommy Wonder (though they have tricks in them, so that wouldn't count, but his essays are brilliant) 🎩❤️
I would also recommend The Magical Life of Marshall Brodien. Stories from his years on Bozo’s Circus and innovatively pitching magic tricks on TV that just seem to amazing to be true. But they are :-)
Check out magic and showmanship if i remember correctly. The tricks there are some fairytale tricks. Like masked magician secrets type of magic trick secrets. But nice to teach you to give yourself a character. Another second is being recommended by everyone and it’s cuz it’s acc nice called max entertainment 2.0
I only own 2 books off of this list (Absolute Magic & the original Billion Dollar Bunkos). If I was to add to the list, I would recommend Foundations (Eberhard Riese) & Maximum Entertainment 2.0 (Ken Weber)

Nice list! I love you are all terrible by Harrison greenbaum.
Thank you guys
This video is fantastic!
The Expert at the Kitchen Table sounds exactly what I've been interested in for years. Any idea if Andy will reprint or where to get a copy?

LOL nice recovery Eric... 0:25
(watch closely.......)

I disagree with close up presentation. It’s just an OK book, nothing compared to the other authors here.

Neo Magic Artistry is a great one...definitely on the “5ft shelf “
I love my Neo-Magic 1st edition!
Great list! As are many other in the comments. I would add Magic and Meaning by Bob Neale and Eugene Burger. And the Books of Wonder by Tommy Wonder (though they have tricks in them, so that wouldn't count, but his essays are brilliant) 🎩❤️
Great list of books...definetely I like Casino game protection and art of switching deck..both are in my shelf👌
I would also recommend The Magical Life of Marshall Brodien. Stories from his years on Bozo’s Circus and innovatively pitching magic tricks on TV that just seem to amazing to be true. But they are :-)
It would be nice to include any book about Presentation or Showmanship, such as Transformations or Beyond Deception 📚🎩⭐😉

Lol, Nick's hair does what it wants when it wants! XD
Switching decks is not a trick?? I think it is.
Switching a deck is a "move" NOT a trick!
