Crazy how much better I found this to be in-game than on the mini preview, lol. Others seem to share the same sentiments too. I already talked about this theme on my long comment, so I'll keep this brief. I wish this played more in-game, but it does very well where it plays, being... (SPOILERS) The battle against Kevin on his own route. It's the first time he uses both his Stigmas at once, and he gets a great S-Craft utilising them both after this as well. The normal battle theme for Kevin's final dungeon. Reminds me of how older Falcom games such as SC, Zero and Azure would change the battle theme for the final dungeon, really brings the hype.
Overall, it's a really cool song, an exciting melody with plenty of neat flourishes throughout that help maintain the thrill and excitement Just a shame there is no motif usage and honestly, I wish Koguchi would at least make some significant attempt to improve the guitar lead after 5 osts but oh well
is it really that bad though? the only time i found it grating is in ysx's ride on mana (to the point i thought it was singa lmao) but people dont comment on that, which is weird.
@@di-gun5791It's not terrible but look at what Unisuga did between Ys IX and Hajimari. While his programming of H7S in Ys IX is still really good, the improvement found in Like a Whirlwind is spectacular, I would love koguchi to achieve something similar yet every year it's either a step to the side or even a step back with his use of H7S
I... don't know, honestly. It's not bad or anything and it probably works better in-game, but I still find Koguchi's rock arrangements fairly weak and I'm really missing some kind of callback to 3rd in this one. People saying they get 3rd or Takeshita vibes but I really don't hear it.
go listen to cry for your eternity followed by this. the homage is pretty obvious when you compare the neopolitian chord resolution at 0:40 vs 0:35 in cry for your eternity. the instrumentation and drumming patterns are all also borrowed from cry for your eternity
@@YourVinished Hmm, now that you mention it I can hear it in the percussion, yeah. I guess it's just Takeshita's sound is so unique and iconic in about every aspect that it doesn't really register as that similar to me, and I meant more of a melodic callback as well. Anyway, it's still good (especially for post-Unisuga Falcom).
the bridge in the middle is so cool to listen to
might be my favourite part of this song unironically
The organ... The bass... Thank you Koguchi.

The preview version already kind of had it, but damn this song gives mega Sky the 3rd vibes
thank you koguchi
He apparently got into composing from hearing "Overdosing Heavenly Bliss" from that game
The Overdosing Heavenly Bliss fan returns
Kevin Graham Theme is really awesome gives me Sky Inspired theme vibes.
GOD this is even better on its full version
KOGUCHI, I CAN'T STOP KNEELING!!! 😭😭😭
Kevin is back! And this ost is cool too
"KEVIN GRAHAM"
You start names with a capital letter cos they are important, but onion boi is so important that every letter is a capital
I hold in my hand a chalice of copium
Thank you Koguchi sama
KOGUCHIII😭😭😭
It’s like Takeshita never left! Good shit, Koguchi!
I liked when they made this the normal battle theme of Kevin’s route. Kind of wish each route had a unique battle theme
I CAME
Hi oomf
certified banger
Reminds me of Takeshita at points, 0:40 especially. Not my favorite Koguchi battle theme overall, but it's still cool.
banger
the verse is pretty cool
Kinguchi
Kevin saved this game

Maybe that's just not his strong suit. Not everyone is good at the same thing.
@@someguy3263 His event themes are much better but the sound team really has nobody else suited to compose normal battle themes at this point.
空の軌跡3rd感あって好きな曲だな^_^
no motif but damn this is GOOD FOOD.
No motif but it does sound like something from trails 3rd. Immense soul I say.
@@di-gun5791 The intro resembles ''Overdosing Heavenly Bliss'' but it can be a strech that i want to believe lol.
feels like something that would play in Crosscode
1:24

文句無しの神曲だとは思うけどケビンルート③で急に雰囲気ガン無視で流れてきたときは吹き出しちゃった

@@PositronCannon yeah, i think it needed Cry For Eternity's chorus playing as the piano counter melody in the chorus to tie it all together
It's like the composer is trying to ape the vibes of 3rd, but doesn't understand what makes it good
